00:00You came to the Giro somehow for GC. What's the feeling of winning a stage and what does it mean
00:06for you for your career? Yeah I mean it's been mentally and I guess physically challenging Giro.
00:13I came for GC and yeah I was feeling good in the first week and then unfortunately I got I got sick
00:19on the on the second rest day and and yeah I wasn't feeling my best in the second week and
00:24and sort of slipped off of GC and then then it was all about trying to recover and see if I could
00:30could get a stage. The GC goes to your former teammates Simon Yates? Yeah I mean I don't know
00:36what I'm happy about winning the stage or seeing Yates win pink he's he's an awesome guy and yeah
00:44I had the pleasure of riding with him for for a couple seasons and and doing a lot of racing with
00:49him and I mean I don't think anyone deserves the pink jersey more than him. Congratulations. Thank
00:55you. You look pretty relaxed this morning. Is it the attitude that enabled you to do that? Oh maybe
01:05but uh yeah I mean I think uh when the the uh the route the parkour was released I uh you know I always
01:14had in the back of the mind to you know try and do something here and uh close the chapter let's say
01:19and uh yeah I just uh still a bit speechless really to to know uh that I was able to do it. On the road
01:28what were your feelings your legs your body? Uh yeah yeah I felt good and uh as well as the whole race I
01:36felt good but uh uh I just felt like I uh yeah I never had the the right moment really to uh to show
01:46really what I could do and uh yeah I found the the opportunity today and uh I was uh trying to get
01:53away a little bit uh from the other two guys uh Richie and uh and Isaac just because uh yeah I knew once I
01:59could ride my own pace I knew I was really strong and uh that's what I managed to do. And you knew there was
02:04uh what Van Aert waiting for you. Yeah I mean uh the whole team have been fantastic the entire race and uh
02:12that was just the the cherry cherry on the cake because uh yeah without without him in the valley
02:17and the rest of the team the entire day uh yeah it wouldn't have been possible. I uh I also yeah I
02:24made me look relaxed but uh I also had doubts uh this morning if I could really do something but
02:29uh yeah the guys uh yeah they encouraged me and believed in me so uh yeah thanks to them.
02:36And now Rome awaits you tomorrow. Yeah unbelievable to be honest I uh yeah yeah I'm trying to search for
02:45some words but I uh I don't have much for you right now sorry. You had the words on the bike. Well done Simon.
02:52Yeah I guess yeah. Thank you. Isaac here you are with the white jersey. It means uh you will go out
03:00of the Giro with something and something big but what is your state of mind now? Ah obviously I am super
03:07happy to finish second. I need to be mature with this and of course a lot of people are surprised that I
03:14can be at this level now. For my team it's not a big surprise it's just a question of time. I want
03:22to believe it. This is the main problem for me and personally but these weeks I show like I can be
03:29top rider and top contender and I cannot be more proud and happy to be honest. For sure it's always
03:35disappointing to lose the last day uh the leader jersey you know but actually as a team we cannot be
03:42more together and more happy about the performance that we did. We cannot manage the victory but sometimes
03:49it's like this and it's cycling and that's why we love it. Take us through what happened uh from your
03:54point of view in the Colle des Finestres when Carapaz attacked, Yates dropped you off? Yeah yeah in the
04:02beginning they started crazy like one climb of 10 minutes and at the end he just started to attack and
04:10stop and stop and stop and stop and for sure you don't want to just start attacking because it's one
04:16hour one hour climb no and when Simon comes for sure I knew he will just wait the best moment to start
04:24to attack and prove and of course if I'm first and he second and Simon is third Richard need to follow
04:33follow no and then he don't want to follow he just want to maybe try to drop me during the whole climb
04:40but yeah then of course he can't I tried to work with him in the last part of the climb because
04:46the gap the Simon has has almost affect my GC you know and and he didn't want and at the end I said okay
04:55no stress we go he went full gas I went in the decent to help him a little bit of Bali I give one
05:02change and he told me no no we don't go and at the end I said I mean it's okay but I cannot put you in
05:08the last climb I mean me and Pink for sure with the time trying to catch Simon and you with 40 seconds in my
05:16win no but it's like this we wait for the team we manage the best that we can and yeah the route the
05:24route the part of the cycling gracias Isaac disfruta de Roma mañana claro que sí todos los caminos llegan ahí
