Meet the winner of Mum of the Year at Worthing Community Awards 2025

00:00This award celebrates extraordinary mothers who exhibit unwavering love, strength and dedication to their families.

00:12This incredible mum has shown remarkable strength and resilience after losing her partner to cancer in 2023.

00:22Balancing the challenges of raising twins who are preparing for their GCSEs

00:28and a younger daughter starting secondary school all whilst working to support her family has been no easy feat.

00:37In addition to her parenting duties she ran the half marathon raising funds for St Barnabas Hospice

00:44and all her nominations that she said this is an amazing woman and an incredible mother who continues to inspire those around her.

00:53So let's meet her, the winner of the 2025 Mum of the Year award, Georgie Canard!

00:59Brian, what time did you get?

01:01Ummm, three hours?

01:03That's brilliant, that's good. I can tell you. Are you going to drive for two hours and thirty next year?

01:08I think I'm going to go.

01:10Go on, you want to get into it?

01:11Yeah.

01:12Excellent! So I started training already?

01:14No.

01:15Well when you're Mum of the Year you've got enough going on in your house as well haven't you?

01:19Raising a lot of money as well.

01:21It must have been great to do that, to get out there and to do some running and to have a bit of time for yourself?

01:26Yeah, it's going to be nice and obviously raising money for St Barnabas to be able to talk to my partner

01:32because I'm a kid's dad.

01:33So yeah, it's important.

01:34Alright, that's important to you, that's important to us that you're Mum of the Year this year.
