00:00they bang they brawl and they're on a collision course to see who will become
00:09the heavyweight of the featherweight division
00:12England's flashy undefeated WBO champion Prince Nassim Hamid is out to show the
00:18world why he should be crowned king of the featherweights
00:22watch out just watch out however hard-working Tom Boom Boom Johnson has
00:27plans of his own to bang bang his way to the top of the 126 pound division looking
00:32at the best featherweight champion in the world but before they meet to see who
00:36will be boxing's biggest little man they must defend their titles tonight
00:40it's Prince Nassim Hamid versus two-time world champion Manuel Medina for the WBO
00:46featherweight championship and Tom Boom Boom Johnson makes his 11th title defense
00:51of the IVF featherweight championship against Venezuela's Ramon Guzman
00:56in addition to this featherweight showcase we'll feature a champion who fights at
01:01the heavier end of the scale as 190 pound title holder Nate Miller defends his WBA
01:06cruiserweight belt against James Heath from the point theater in Dublin Ireland
01:11it's showtime championship boxing
01:30Ireland's dramatic cliffs pristine meadows and mist shrouded hills have for centuries served as an
01:37inspiration for its celebrated collection of immortal writers
01:43nestled on the island's eastern shore is the 1000 year old capital city of Dublin
01:49famous the world over for its impressive architecture and stately monuments
01:56but tonight the city showcases two men anxious to create history not with their words but with their fists
02:07and welcome to the point theater in Dublin Ireland the point dates back to Victorian times it was built
02:13in 1878 at a then huge sum of 200 000 pounds its strategic location at the point where the rivers
02:20lippy and daughter flow into the iris sea meant that it functioned for over 80 years as a warehouse for the
02:26traffic using the busy port of Dublin today it's a busy theater and major entertainment site stars like
02:32Luciano Pavarotti Frank Sinatra the rock group U2 and the Bolshoi Ballet have played the packed
02:38houses at the point now one of Europe's most versatile and successful venues it's also home to such big-time
02:44musicals as cats and Les Miserables tonight it's big-time boxing as the point plays host to a world championship triple header
02:55hello again everybody i'm steve albert and this evening we come to you from Ireland a country that's so immersed in the
03:01tradition of boxing that a section in Dublin named Donnybrook has entered the lexicon the heritage of
03:08Irish boxing can be traced from the great John L Sullivan to current WBO super middleweight champion Irish
03:14Steve Collins tonight our primary focus centers around two featherweight champions on a collision course
03:20WBO featherweight champ Prince Nassim Hamed is one of the most electrifying and intriguing fighters to come out of Europe this decade
03:27decade he's a charismatic taunting brass young power puncher from Sheffield England there is no middle ground
03:33with Hamed either you love him or you hate him in dramatic contrast Tom Boom Boom Johnson fighting out
03:39of Detroit Michigan has quietly yet skillfully held his IVF featherweight belt for over three years the
03:44likable Johnson one of the sport's longest reigning champions is also one of boxing's best kept secrets
03:50both Hamed and Johnson are headed in the same direction and could soon meet to unify their featherweight
03:56titles on that note let me bring on my partners at ringside first the fight doctor Ferdi Pacheco and
04:01Ferdi whether people like him or not Prince Nassim Hamed has certainly brought excitement to the
04:05featherweight division yeah he's brought a lot of thunder and lightning to it like Ali he started out
04:10with a lot of noise a lot of things but you know like Ali he's beginning to produce in the ring that's
04:15all that thunder and lightning's good but when the bell rings you got to produce in the ring this kid
04:19is now producing in every fight this is an important fight night tonight he's got to produce tonight
04:24well the question is will we actually see a Hamed versus Johnson showdown of the near future and what
04:30about other possible future matchups for Hamed with champions from 122 to 130 pounds as we welcome
04:36in Bobby Chez Bobby let's get your thoughts well I think certainly first and foremost Steve the fight with
04:40Boom Boom Johnson is the fight in the featherweight division but you also have Alfredo Vasquez and
04:45Louie Espinosa two other great champions that would make great unification bouts in the featherweight
04:49division but if not Ahmed Ahmed wants to really test his greatness if he really wants to see how good
04:53he is 130 pounds just a few pounds away is the ultimate road warrior the old professor azuma nelson
04:59that would legitimize him as being great automatically all right Bobby so we are eagerly anticipating tonight's
05:06featured champions in separate bouts it'll be undefeated French Nassim Ahmed defending his WBO featherweight
05:12title for the third time and Tom Boom Boom Johnson making his 11th defense of the IVF featherweight
05:17championship it's all coming up later here on Showtime championship boxing
05:25but first here at the point theater in Dublin Ireland we take a giant step up and wait as the
05:30cruiserweights grab the spotlight our opening bout the WBA cruiserweight championship
05:35featuring Nate Mr. Miller against James the boss man Heath
05:42and let's take a look at the challenger James Heath a refreshingly classy and genuinely nice person but
05:47with a questionable record Heath is only nine and three with two draws seven KOs although he claims to
05:53have won eight more fights seven by knockout he's a former NAVF cruiserweight champion but lost his first
05:59world title attempt to Orlan Norris in 94 comes off a TKO loss to Brian LaSpada
06:04he's a soft-spoken 36 year old father of eight from Monroe North Carolina he's a former golden
06:11gloves and police athletic league champ who made it to the quarterfinals of the 84
06:16Olympic trials so that is James the boss man Heath we are awaiting the ring walk of Nate
06:24and now Mr. Miller we understand Miller had a little trouble in the dressing room with his gloves
06:31his hands were too big and he couldn't close the gloves they fitted the weigh-in
06:38but apparently they've been able to rectify the situation and there he is
06:45the champion Nate Mr. Miller originally from Germantown Pennsylvania a suburb of Philadelphia
06:52the 33 year old Miller is 28 and 4 with 24 knockouts and tonight his third defense at the WBA
06:59cruiserweight title Miller won the title in July of 95 with an eighth round knockout over Moreland
07:03Norris in London and Bobby you'll recall Miller took control in round six into the eighth he put
07:08Norris flat on his back for the title in impressive fashion well rumor had it that Norris had to lose
07:1230 pounds in 30 days but all that aside Miller did what he had to do he saw the opportunity he
07:17seized it and knocked out Norris in spectacular fashion he deserves to be here all right let's
07:23size them up Bobby as we check out the tail of the tape this fight of the 30 something variety Miller
07:2833 three years younger than Heath at 62 Miller with the four inch height advantage only two pounds
07:33separating the two and Miller with the three inch reach advantage and of the WBA rules for this world
07:38title fight scoring is by the 10 point must system three judges will score there's no standing eight count
07:43the three knockdown rule is in effect only the referee can stop the fight a fighter cannot be
07:48saved by the bell except in the last round if an accidental foul occurs before the end of the fourth
07:52round the fighters rule the technical draw if it happens after the completion of the fourth they go to
07:57the scorecards so here at the point theater in Dublin Ireland we're closing in on our first bout the WBA
08:04Cruiserweight Championship Nate Miller versus James Heath and we are just about ready for the introductions
08:12we're going to send it over to our ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. in just a moment as this fight
08:19closes in between Nate Mr. Miller and James the boss man Heath for the World Boxing Association

11:03and once again a referee in charge Carlos Ben Rocal now instructions
11:07ok remember the distinction good try and good luck
11:16ok remember the distinction good try and good luck
11:18ok

11:26ok
11:28ok
11:30ok
11:32ok
11:33ok
11:34ok
11:35ok
11:36well will Nate Miller traditionally a slow starter live up to his
11:41free fight words to us and think Keith out early and in all due respect to
11:45heath you have to question how a 9 3 and 2 fighter gets the green light for a world title
11:50shot
11:51once again
11:53reason is overruled if anything he should be loose if he loses
11:57well it's expected if he wins it's an upset and he is the champs
12:02and this is his second world title shot although i'll tell you
12:04He said that Orlin Norris as well
12:06as Robert Daniels the former
12:08Cruiserweight champion who I beat
12:09for my title both said he had the
12:11hardest hand and hit him harder
12:12than anyone ever.
12:14But we'll see.
12:16You may not have the opportunity
12:17to hit him with hard shots if he
12:19doesn't get started a little bit
12:21better than that.
12:22Well when we asked Miller what he
12:23knew about Heath that could work
12:25to his advantage tonight he said
12:27very little but that he planned to
12:29go in for a knockout as soon as
12:32possible.
12:33James Heath the challenger
12:34is in the all-black front.
12:37Nate Miller the champion is in
12:40what looks to be purple trunks
12:42with gold trim.
12:44Nate's working the right hand to
12:45the body reaching around the
12:46elbow of Heath he's banging him
12:47good he's starting to bother Heath
12:49a little bit because he keeps
12:49holding on.
12:52Well he told us he feels that
12:54Miller is his most vulnerable to
12:56the right hand of the left hook
12:57which just about covers it all
12:59again.
12:59He says he needs to step to his
13:01own right and hit Miller with his
13:03right hand to be successful
13:05tonight.
13:06Well he's not working he's up but
13:08one thing that's obvious almost
13:09to me is the great condition of the
13:11champion Nate Miller and sort of
13:13the sloppy condition of boss man.
13:15See a little roll of fat Bobby
13:16around his trunks there.
13:18You know I don't I've learned to
13:19not always tell by that because
13:21guys like Buster Mathers come in
13:23and throw punches for 12 rounds
13:24and they have a lot of it there
13:25appears to be in when you get a
13:26bigger weight sometimes you can't
13:28lean that body out as much.
13:29Yeah well you picked the heck of
13:31oh.
13:32Oh brother and the boss man on the
13:35cabbage.
13:37I don't think he's in trouble.
13:39It was more of a slip down but he did
13:40get hit with a punch.
13:41He walked into a nice left hook he
13:43got hit with a combination and a
13:44hook turned right in.
13:45So our first knockdown it came with
13:47about a minute remaining in round one
13:49and Nate Miller goes right back to
13:52the body and of a head as he tries
13:56to square up and regain his
13:58composure Miller again boring into
14:01the body with rights abusing the
14:03body that right hand right over
14:06that roll of fat and pounding in
14:08those ribs.
14:10You know Nate's normally a slow
14:11start and I was teasing with the
14:12interviews saying that you know
14:14you always have that poker face
14:15you never seem to be in a hurry
14:16never even seem to get upset he
14:17said that's just part of my
14:18personality does take him a while
14:21to get heated up sometimes five
14:23to seven rounds but he's certainly
14:24having his way here with James
14:26he had no trouble getting started
14:29in this way you know he's not
14:30even really working behind the
14:32jab he's just letting he walk to
14:34him and banging that right hand
14:35to the body and tearing left
14:36hook up inside.
14:39There's the bell to win round one.
14:48Keep going.
14:49Keep going.
14:50Keep going.
14:51Keep going.
14:52Keep going.
14:53Keep going.
14:54Give me the best thing on my
14:55hand.
14:56Okay.
14:57Thanks y'all.
14:58Talk to me.
14:59Okay.
15:00You're listening.
15:01You're just not throwing the
15:02jab.
15:03Uh-huh.
15:04Settle in.
15:05You're doing fine.
15:06Don't worry about that.
15:07He looks very slow.
15:08He doesn't look like he wants to go
15:09far.
15:10You just get to yourself up.
15:11Get to yourself up.
15:12And start jabbing.
15:13Move to the right and try to get it
15:16in.
15:17Don't leave with the right hand
15:18dead cold like you were doing with
15:19leaving with the foot.
15:20Let's take a look at that knock
15:21down again.
15:22It wasn't a very big knock down but
15:24it certainly was a genuine knock
15:26down there.
15:27He walked into that left.
15:29Whoops.
15:30His feet went out from under.
15:31What big.
15:32Yeah.
15:33You can see he's turning that right
15:34hand.
15:35Nate is behind the back there under
15:36the arm.
15:37And he turns.
15:38Rips an uppercut.
15:39Bang.
15:40Turns right in with that hook.
15:41Right on the button.
15:42Bob Miller in the corner of James
15:44Heath talking slow and low.
15:46Very calming influence telling the
15:48boss man not to worry about what
15:50happened.
15:51We'll see if it affects him heading
15:52into round number two scheduled
15:54for 12.
15:56But by the looks of things that
15:58would be most surprised if it
16:00went that far.
16:03Heath has been boxing for nearly
16:0420 years as far as the assistant
16:06police chief of the Monroe
16:07Police Department pushed his
16:09son to box.
16:10Okay.
16:11Police athletically.
16:12I'm off.
16:15Heath strainer said no he said
16:17use that jab working behind the
16:19jab.
16:20He said doesn't look like Nate
16:21wants to be here a long time.
16:22He's a little bit of a hurry.
16:23Take your time.
16:24Well he may take his time.
16:25He's got to fight back.
16:26Yeah.
16:27It's not good news that he's not
16:28much of a.
16:29I mean doesn't want to be here
16:30long.
16:31That just means he wants you to
16:32get knocked out fast.
16:33And so that's not good.
16:34Okay.
16:35Miller usually fights from the
16:36outside.
16:37Doesn't look to mix it up on the
16:38inside.
16:39Fights in spurts.
16:40Bursts of energy does not normally
16:44apply consistent pressure not
16:47what you call a high octane
16:48fighter seems to turn it on when
16:50he gets mad.
16:55I'll tell you one thing he does
16:56not forget the body.
16:57He does not neglect the body.
17:00So far James Heath the
17:02challenger being clearly over
17:03matched but there is a poking
17:05left jab by Pete but then he
17:07lets himself open for the
17:09counter by Miller.
17:10And a left hook that tags
17:12Miller on the face.
17:13You know he got his attention
17:14with that a little bit.
17:15You can see that he has
17:16comparably heavy hands but he's
17:17not throwing those punches.
17:18He's not turning in not
17:19generating any good speed with
17:20him for the power that he
17:21wants.
17:22He seems much slower and a
17:24different quality fighter than
17:26Miller off this first round
17:28and a half.
17:29He seems much slower and a
17:31different quality fighter than
17:32Miller off this first round
17:34and a half.
17:35About a minute left in round
17:38number two for the WBA
17:40Cruiserweight Championship.
17:44Nate Miller on the right.
17:45James Heath on the left.
17:47Another the champion.
17:49Okay.
17:50Miller twenty eight and four with
17:51twenty four knockouts his
17:52third title defense.
17:54He's just nine three and two
17:55with seven KOs and tonight
17:57believe it or not with that
17:58record his second world title
17:59shot.
18:01That is in itself amazing.
18:02Well it's a it's a good
18:05description of what's
18:06happening in your former
18:07division head and the
18:08cruiserweights it is a desert
18:09down there.
18:10There's just nothing going on
18:11there.
18:12It is dry.
18:13Less than 30 seconds round
18:14two.
18:15It's the wasteland before the
18:16promised land the heavyweight
18:17division.
18:18It's the wasteland before you
18:19put on the wasteland and get
18:20up to the heavyweight.
18:21Okay.
18:22Okay.
18:23Rick.
18:24No more.
18:30James Heath's problem could be
18:31his waistline.
18:32Yeah.
18:37Final seconds of the second
18:38round.
18:39I'm going to make more money.
18:52Stop moving that left hand.
18:53Stop moving that left hand.
18:54You're wearing him down good
18:55with the right hand.
18:57You're wearing him down good
18:58with the right hand.
18:59Okay.
19:00You're wearing him down good
19:01with the right hand but you
19:02need some more left hand.
19:04Okay.
19:05You need to bend the knees.
19:06You're walking in too tall.
19:08Let's get some combinations on the one-two punching the man is ready to go
19:13But you ain't making him go out of here. He's staying there because you're one-two punch
19:18Let's put together some combinations. We need the left hand to show up the left hand is in being his sleep
19:23Let's wake the left hand up
19:38Round three scheduled for 12 for the WBA Cruiserweight Championship. He comes out
19:50Okay, Bruce swinging wailing away, but having no effect on Nate Miller who was right back to the parties
19:55He's just throwing wildly trying to land
19:58No, he does at least putting himself in play putting himself in a position to connect and possibly win
20:03And that's that's about all you could ask him right now. He seems to be a lot of class but trying
20:08Yeah, he's got to go toe-to-toe Bob. He's got to he's got to get some if he has got that power that they say
20:12Then he's got to bring it to bear because even box Miller that in a million years, you know, I box this guy
20:19He's got it. You got to get into a fight with him and take his chance
20:22Okay, but certainly hadn't shown in the first two rounds that he was deserving of this shot
20:29Trying to show a little more pop in the third, okay
20:38And Nate Miller's corner told me use the left hand make it up sleep
20:43Wake it up use it more put it together with the combinations that he's ready to go and Nate is still
20:49Somewhat in that poker face. Moe. He's just a great time as he always does
20:55But he had to use it a little bit more Bobby because he's jabbing and hooking off the jab
20:58Which he wasn't done before you know get some work in
21:01He was down to 158 of round number one incidentally conspicuous by their absence in the VIP section there
21:13They're waiting for the French
21:15not seeing my met quite
21:17and so
21:19Many of those seats have yet to be filled as Nate Miller
21:23Unleashed a bit of a barrage there and continues to have his way against JMP's just spinning him around at will
21:29You know Nate threw a nice combination under and over down the middle and he connected with all of them
21:33And he was in my opinion in a little bit of trouble and ready for the floor
21:37But again, he's just taking his time. He never gets in a big hurry
21:40I think he could have stepped it up and hurried a little bit in that position. I agree with Bobby
21:44I think this guy's ready for the day. He's wearing out. He's wearing down certainly that body attack of those first two rounds and what looks like a guy not in
21:51Great shape is doing his job. I mean that's that's
21:59And he's getting it on the left side of the face from a straight right by Nate Miller
22:07Miller looks to be toying with Heath who telegraphs his punches
22:11Miller easily able to get out of the way defensively and there's a hard left hook to the head by miller
22:19Well, he's just walking into many punches
22:21No, this isn't the type of fight that made miller wants to go long
22:27Not because it would jeopardize him winning but marquee value a fighter like james he comes in and takes him deep
22:33It's going to be difficult for him to get bigger payday based on that type of performance
22:37Final seconds of round number three another round for the champion miller
22:42Come on sit down
22:48Okay
22:50You got it
22:52You know
22:58Look at me
23:00Let me ask you a question
23:06Do you want this thing?
23:07Yeah, I want
23:08Well, settle down and start working the jab and it's double jab bing bing bing bing
23:13You got me then the rest works, okay? You get that working hit the break point fake the body hit the body hit the head
23:19Get that left hand work and you're looking like you're on rubber legs out there in beautiful shape shame on you
23:24Okay, come on. We've got those kids
23:26Take care. This is my joke. Okay, this is it. There's no more
23:32Swallow water you get it
23:35Let's take a look at how miller is working so relentless. It's beautiful uppercut hook across
23:42Jab right right? I mean straight left
23:45Absolutely nicely done now bob miller who is the trainer in the corner of james heath
23:50Heath
23:52Exhorting his man he thought
23:55Using all kinds of strategies saying hey remember the kids
24:00He has eight children and he promises kids that he'd bring the wba cruiserweight belt back home to monroe north carolina
24:06where he's also
24:07A worker on the docks appropriately tonight's venue located down on the docks here
24:12in dublin and this place might
24:15Be reminiscent of a site that date miller is accustomed to fighting at the old blue horizon and oh right uppercut water ride
24:24That was a well-timed uppercut nature's hung inside he laid for him uses leverage and tore right up the middle
24:30And these credit he took it well
24:32He did
24:35He's showing a
24:37Pretty good chin. That was a solid uppercut by nate miller
24:41Miller undefeated in his hometown of philadelphia gets what he want to know when they see knockouts
24:47Here on the intimate
24:49Surroundings of
24:53The point theater in dublin ireland and once again nate miller going to the body and then to the head
24:59He's training kept telling him he's got a jab single jab double jab
25:02Can set up some of this combination
25:03But he's just coming in with his hands up trying to block the big bombs that miller's unloading and trying to counter
25:08But he's not doing it effectively
25:10Well, he's fighting more of a defensive fight than an offensive that's taking it to him with both hands
25:15And so therefore he's getting belated
25:18The other guys much faster is nate miller
25:21Miller won the title in 95 with an eighth round knockout of orland norris
25:28In nearby london only about an hour away from dublin here
25:33And you remember that fight he sort of bored you to death at the beginning you've done
25:36Well, what's this guy when's he ever gonna start fighting when he did he won
25:39He finally started to come on in the sixth round and if you'll recall
25:44Norris suffered from dehydration was on his back for several minutes at the end of the fight
25:49The rumor had it that he had to lose those 30 pounds in just 30 days
25:53That it was a fight that he didn't want to necessarily take right away
25:55But the opportunity presented itself nate very patient took his time saw the opportunity when it came he lowered the hammer
26:02To his credit did the right thing. Oh, it was miller's second world title shot
26:06Having lost to al cole for the ibf cruiserweight belt be a decision in 94 cole recently vacated the saddle to move up
26:16Again miller with a mini mirage to the head of heath
26:19Heath looking to unload less than 30 seconds in round four
26:24A game at least james heath standing in there but getting punched and there's another short crisp right hook by miller that landed
26:30Now he's just hanging on but
26:38Want to get in the corner with miller and yell out of you want to be here all night or look can we go home now, please?
26:43Let's finish this thing
26:46That was the stand williams in the corner of nate miller
26:49And appear because you look like the frankenstein monster with one hand
27:00I ain't seen a combination yet, baby
27:03I'm winning, but I ain't seen a combination yet
27:06I keep seeing that left hand hanging down just like it was in the gym hanging down to your side
27:11That's all I see and I see the man running around that way
27:15Being able to get hit by three four triple hooks give me some grease gino please
27:20You're making this a tough fight. It's an easy fight
27:24You're making it tough because you're fighting it with one hand you're fighting it with a right hand
27:28Let's use some jabs binion you watch miller's throwing the combinations ripping the punches up inside
27:34But again, he has opportunities to follow up even further
27:38Well here you see he's trying to step around but there's that uppercut
27:42Again, they feel it'll be very patient. He waits. Sometimes he waits just a little too much
27:46He doesn't seem to have that fire that you need to follow up a good shot
27:50I mean get a good shot follow it up with a great combination. He does
27:55Well round five nate mr. Miller as we mentioned and admitted slow stutter and though he he did drop heath in round one
28:03he is now entering the rounds when he's
28:05He's the most dangerous
28:07We'll see if he follows through against the challenger james hate
28:14And I agree with bobby it impacts on his uh
28:17What he can demand for himself you can't put a guy away like this and his demand
28:22The man of paying big money is not there
28:24Okay, no, that's a show exciting. You gotta show something for the public to want to see it
28:28Well, this is uh
28:32Emblematic of the way nate miller fights although now he's starting to pick it up
28:36This might give you incentive to come back to cruiserweight. I'd have to probably cut off the thigh though
28:41I'd really rather fight with both legs
28:43I'm happy where I'm at for now
28:45And we only have about a year and a half or two and we're out
28:48Okay
28:50And beside still that wasteland because now there's pretty much only nate miller al cole's even gone
28:56There's some names there that i've never even heard of and I follow the game
28:59It's a very difficult division to succeed and make money
29:03And succeeding is difficult enough as it is ralph broca giotti household name
29:08What cello dominguez household name exactly those are the other cruiserweight champions folks
29:16And in the meantime this grinds on in in a sort of
29:20Restless kind of fashion because neither one is taking real control of trying to put the other one out
29:26Whereas the champion nate miller should
29:29Then the other guy can't avoid it one knocked down in the first round as he went down he has been down and out before
29:36Nothing new to him Miller knocked down once
29:40By James Waring back in 1990. He has never been knocked out
29:52But even though Miller is outclassing Heath here
29:57He is not able to put him away
30:00Twisting right uppercut by Miller but having little or no effect on Heath
30:03Now a combination by younger backing heath into the uh, throats
30:08Okay, you know sometimes when you have a talent like nate miller defending against someone who appears to not even be
30:14On the page to play that he doesn't totally train for a hard
30:18Fast pace long fight it sometimes yes can serve as energy out of necessity
30:24Not being there emotional
30:25It might be emotional but he looks like he looks like he's got it there
30:31He's a slow starter and we said it and he's showing it to us
30:38Heath comes back with a left hook but a counter shot by nate miller
30:42Heath all of a sudden comes alive but miller backing up unleashed a right uppercut that connect
30:48Heath landed a couple of pretty decent shots one left hook and one right hand
30:51It's certainly got miller's attention now the first kind of good thing that you've seen him do
31:00Give me the n12
31:02This won't give me what do you want?
31:06I got a cut
31:09Listen to me. He just finally started the fight to the left the last 10 seconds
31:14His legs are going he's getting tired another good sequence by nate miller here as the champion continues
31:20His pounding of the half cross man and no matter how you look at all of those are landing
31:25He just doesn't run across and follow it up
31:28and that's
31:30That's part of the problem you see him he lands those punches here later in the round
31:34He digs something he's still got that right hand
31:36He's digging around to the side every chance he gets
31:38And now he's coming over the top with it and eventually turns off and throw the hook the uppercut down in the middle
31:43And he's connecting but when he gets he
31:45Seemingly in trouble that's when he should just really tear off and unload he doesn't seem to do
31:55Round number six scheduled for 12 for the wba
31:58Cruiserweight championship another factor now to take into account although the cut is under the eye of the boss band
32:05It was a straight right by miller and then miller gets tagged he opens himself up from a right hand by heat
32:12That was a driving good right hand stood up
32:15Champion nate miller's pulling straight up. I'll tell you what they saw he's trying to counter there again with the right hand
32:20There's another left hook and right hand he's fighting back now
32:23He's making the street fight out of it. That's what he should do. That's what he should do exactly what he should do
32:28He's just looking to open this thing up
32:32And wailing away
32:35That Nate miller
32:38Continues his disinterested way doesn't look like he's involved in this
32:43That was a good charge
32:45First good one. Well, we keep hearing that he is a hard puncher
32:49He certainly needs that now here in round number six
32:53That's the best flurry of the night by the challenger james a but back comes nate miller looks like he has already
32:59run out of gas after that flurry
33:01You know something else you have to take into consideration it no more over the first five rounds
33:06the heat and boss boss man he has taken all the punishment the absorption factor will be
33:11Taking its toll if not now shortly the accumulation of punches by nate miller
33:16Miller perhaps taking its toll
33:20Miller who won 18 of his first 19 fights then went up against James Waring for the nabf cruiserweight title
33:27Miller experiencing his first and only knocked down on the first Brown
33:31And then five months later he lost another close decision to Al Cole
33:37Again for the nabf crown
33:40He would lose the decision to call again six fights later for the ivf cruiserweight title before
33:44knocking out Orland Norris last summer for the wba bill
33:50In between his two losses to Cole
33:52He retired two-time world champ white car we by a ten round decision
33:56Great right hand by nate miller and a right uppercut but a grazing goal by miller you see right now he's
34:02Showing you the signs of fatigue showing you the signs being hit too much and getting hurt head is snapping back more frequently
34:09And he's just not bouncing back but even just just throwing punches and trying at least every round beginning he came out swinging now he's fading
34:19Apparently they did find new gloves for nate mr. Miller after experiencing
34:24some problems with the size of the gloves before the fight in the dressing room
34:31We approach 20 seconds left in round six
34:43Again this is usually the area of the fight where miller starts coming up well he snapped beats okay back with that up
34:49As we head for the bell
35:03and swell
35:06i got it
35:07it's low
35:08can you breathe through here all right yeah all right listen to me look at me
35:18you're giving it away but i want to tell you something that's happening in there that you don't even
35:21know that's it he's dying you think you're tired you should see his legs okay so it goes to the strong
35:28okay so get smart get smart okay get smart get smart and be smart okay and what does smart say
35:35stop diving in stop pulling straight back and get your damn jab going and the rest will come
35:41here's another good sequence by miller he's had his moments here he really has
35:45but he hasn't been able to put away this dogged uh boss man he just stays there
35:51good combination finishing off with the right hand reset again and still nothing with boss man he's still
35:57standing upright right in front of him soft spoken but dramatic words by he's
36:02trainer bob miller okay okay for a minute in round six it looked like he could throw some decent punches but halfway through
36:11he hasn't won a round in our estimation
36:15round number seven scheduled for 12 for the wba cruiserweight championship
36:19nate miller has the gold strike and because of the knock down the uh initial round he's already
36:24passed the point of no return by winning a decision so he's really got to be desperate and get that
36:30oh well nate miller up until the orland norris fight the last july never had a knockout after
36:36seven rounds so the feeling among opponents perhaps was get miller into the later rounds
36:42but lately in two of his last three fights he's had an eighth round knockout over norris and a ninth round
36:48tko over brian lesbada so that theory may not apply anymore we'll see right uppercut by nate miller to
36:55the chin of the boss man boy i have never seen a guy land so many hard uppercuts without a very
37:02hard punch to take i mean it and he's landed a great actor miller loves going to the head although
37:10earlier in the fight we saw him going to the body he hasn't completely abandoned that body shot but
37:17right now he appears to be a little tired of himself when he's wrestling he's not in any danger of
37:21moving around fighting when he wants to fight and certainly right now that's all to his advantage
37:30okay come on come on a third man in the ring carlos veracal
37:34good shots by nate miller a heavy right combination by miller but again he stays up
37:47but there you saw miller follow up with a second set of combinations looking to do some damage and
37:52maybe taking the man out something i think he's done a little earlier maybe two or three rounds
37:55ago may have very well done it yeah he's waited a little long time and his punches haven't got that
38:01scheme that they had at the very beginning either he's been punching away to no effect rick you
38:08know having been a champion i haven't had many fights sometimes when you step down to fight a guy
38:12who doesn't really appear to be a serious threat a little piece of music going an extra mile
38:20maybe that's the case here with nate he's not being pressed so he's not pressing back now miller
38:24on the chase had heat the backpedaling i would think when you're fighting a man who is
38:30obviously of lesser quality than you there's a tendency to let down and lose concentration
38:35oh down he goes with a straight left heat is on the canvas
38:41right on the button and you've got an intent to fit out
38:47he gets up on eight and it is way dark yeah that he his legs went under that's a good call
38:54no sense of getting any further abuse and punishment it was the second time he went down in the fight
39:00and he continues to be in eight days james look at all the blood his face has been bloody that last
39:06punch seemed to have popped open that building cut that was under there and unfortunately that one last
39:12cut in the day so nate miller defends his wba cruiserweight title
39:19leading from start to finish and he ends it by putting james heath on the canvas makes his third
39:30successful defense of the wba cruiserweight title the 33 year old nate mr miller from germantown
39:37pennsylvania up his record to 29 and four now and he also has 25 victories by knockout a win over james he
39:49he came around seven unofficially 254
40:06if i'll tell you what you're looking he worked him where he's worked him in started throwing the
40:10combinations turn that hook in actually switched so much to south or reach with the right left hand down
40:15the pipe you'll see it again he comes in he's working that right hand so here's he switch to south
40:20off and he lets that left hand go right down the pipe he just reaches with the right and throws that
40:25left down the pipe he goes let's go to jimmy landing two minutes 54 seconds of round number seven
40:34our referee in charge carlos berro carl stops the contest the winner by way of technical knockout
40:41and still the wba cruiserweight champion of the world nate mr miller
40:52nate mr miller tko round seven 254 retaining his wba cruiserweight championship why james heath was here
41:02in the first place is still a major question mark and it was his second shot at a world title he's now
41:08nine four and two now there is the championship belt a belt that uh won robert chez is quite
41:19familiar with oh sure that used to be my old belt uh before i vacated and norris norris got it and now
41:25miller okay it's around the uh waste these days of nate miller coming up next here at the point
41:31theater in dublin ireland the ibf featherweight championship featuring tom boom boom johnson
41:37versus ramon guzma the veteran johnson using this fight as a tune-up for an anticipated showdown
41:44with unbeaten prince nasim hamed for title unification
41:56so it's johnson versus guzman coming up for the ibf featherweight championship
42:03and bobby chez the cruiserweight division as we look back at the last fight between nate miller
42:09and james heath seems to be a vast wasteland and i don't know if this has done anything to
42:15improve the status of the cruiserweight division in any event let's take a look at nate miller in
42:19action well see there you see him again he was working his way in and just stepped and almost assumed the
42:24southpaw stance jab with the right hand and threw a straight left down the pipe right on the button
42:29i believe it uh not only opened the cut further but created another one that maybe no made uh heath's
42:34nosebleed but it left him down there all right let's go up to the white doctor bobby ferdy pacheco
42:41in the ring that was a perfect punch it knocked him out but it took you a long time to get there
42:45i like to thank jesus christ for giving me the opportunity and strength to prevail uh you know
42:51i had to figure these guys out i never seen film on him or nothing so i had to find out what strategy i
42:57would use to uh you know to sue him with well you worked the body so well in those first two or three
43:02rounds i thought he was going to cave in on the first two or three and then you kind of gave up
43:05on the body did you get uh a little tired of hitting him on the body uh not really i had to utilize
43:10other tools that i had you know jab uppercuts left hooks uh anything a fight like this does you any
43:16good i mean both at the box office both as you as a boxer you didn't learn anything it was just like
43:20a night at the office no everybody know what nate mr miller represent uh not to be taken for granted
43:26or lightly because you know i'm still one of the hardest punches in the cruiserweight division uh
43:31what did exactly did you hit him with that this is the first knockout what's this uh look you tell
43:38me oh you know i had to set him up first first round and whatever i seen open and i had to use
43:43use that to my advantage see if he came right into your hook like you were doing he left that open
43:49now here's the end of the fight and this one was no question one punch i mean this is clean yeah go to
43:53show you i'm one of the most devastating punches in this cruiserweight division and folks can't take it
43:59for granted either hand well that was one punch that finished well thank you very much it was a
44:04long dreary fight but you finished it well and let's go back to steve albert and bobby ches at ringside
44:11thank you
