00:00All right, girls, who's ready to lift some weights?
00:08Up, up, up.
00:14But it's one movement.
00:15We're going to lighten it up.
00:16Try it.
00:17Say, sissy, you can do it.
00:18Sissy, you can do it.
00:21Toss.
00:22Go.
00:22Boom.
00:23Ha!
00:25There it is.
00:27See?
00:28Bow.
00:29High five.
00:31Harper, your turn.
00:32You had my Harper pumping iron?
00:34Mm-hmm.
00:37Go down, bend with your knees.
00:38Bring it in the air.
00:40Say, ah!
00:42No?
00:44Okay.
00:44Ah!
00:47Yeah!
00:48Yeah!
00:51Sex and chocolate.
00:52Working with your spouse is never boring.
00:56Whether we're finding the fixer-upper of your dreams
00:58or unlocking your home's potential.
01:01You got $89,000 worth of equity.
01:04Mike and I are obsessed with finding value in homes.
01:08And sometimes, you find the most value in the ugliest ones.
01:12Oh!
01:13Oh, my God!
01:14Mike, stop it!
01:15I just can't wait to see my friends' faces.
01:17They're going to be so jealous!
01:20And while we're kicking up sawdust,
01:22we're trying to manage our family.
01:24I want Kendall home.
01:28Life gets messy.
01:29Oh, my hearing!
01:31But getting into your dream home shouldn't be.
01:34Let's do this.
01:36I haven't been in Chamblee in a while.
01:43I know.
01:44Very nice neighborhood, though.
01:45About two years ago, we had a design project out here.
01:48But we haven't really worked together on townhomes too much.
01:51No.
01:51So, Ray and Lily, that's who we're going to meet.
01:53They've been married for 24 years
01:55and have two sons in their 20s.
01:57The whole family loves living in Chamblee
01:59because it has a great sense of community.
02:01They also love the ease of townhome living
02:03and do not want to move.
02:05Originally, when Ray called me,
02:06it was to redo their floors.
02:08But once all the furniture was out,
02:09they realized they really wanted to do a full renovation
02:12so that they can make this a home base
02:14for their family for years to come.
02:16So, that's why I'm bringing you to meet with them.
02:18So, what names again?
02:19Ray and Lily.
02:20Yeah.
02:24Hi.
02:24Hey, what's going on, Ray?
02:26What's going on, buddy?
02:27Nothing much.
02:27Hi, TJ.
02:28How are you?
02:29Hi, I'm Lily.
02:30Hi, Lily.
02:31Nice to meet you.
02:31Nice to meet you.
02:32Come on in.
02:32Come on in.
02:33It's a nice home.
02:35We've been married for 24 years.
02:36We have two boys.
02:38I work in sales.
02:39I'm a butterfly catcher.
02:41That was jokes.
02:44That was jokes.
02:46Hey, we can live here, so it works.
02:48It works.
02:50I'm an attorney.
02:51When we bought this home back in 2019,
02:54loved the space, loved townhome living.
02:56It was built in 2002,
02:58so we'd love the opportunity to kind of update it
03:01with modern finishes, modern look.
03:04We have a son with special needs,
03:06and we want to make sure that the home gives enough space
03:09for us to live through our retirement years
03:12to help our parents if we need to
03:14and also still be a place where he can call home.
03:18We love the opportunity of creating a primary
03:20on the main floor.
03:21We want to update the kitchen and the owner's suite.
03:24Right now, we share that closet,
03:26and there's just not enough room.
03:27I want to have just a nicer bathroom.
03:30I want to feel luxurious in there,
03:32so that's what I'm looking forward to.
03:34I feel very strongly that Egypt and Mike
03:37can update this for us
03:38and make it what we need it to be.
03:40Can you show us the room?
03:41Yes, let's take the room.
03:42Okay, so this is...
03:43Technically, our formal dining room.
03:45We've also used it as a bedroom,
03:47depending on what the needs are.
03:48What we've not used it as is a formal dining room.
03:51We have not.
03:52Okay.
03:53A lot of people don't use the dining room
03:55as a dining room anymore.
03:56We've got offices, playrooms, et cetera.
03:58So what would you like to see this space be?
04:01We'd love for it to be a bedroom.
04:03Oh.
04:03We care for our elderly parents from time to time,
04:06and we are anticipating the potential need
04:10to have one of them move in and stay with us.
04:12Gotcha.
04:13And how many bedrooms does the house have currently?
04:15Three.
04:15So it would be a four-four.
04:18Yes.
04:18Essentially.
04:19Yes.
04:19This doorway leads to our butler's pantry,
04:22and that leads right into the kitchen.
04:24So when we bought the house,
04:26we didn't know what a butler's pantry was.
04:28Because you don't have a butler.
04:29Right.
04:30I wasn't going to admit that.
04:33We figured out some uses for it.
04:35This was kind of a dry bar.
04:36That's our pantry.
04:38But essentially, it's not used for our family.
04:41So we'd love to repurpose this space.
04:43So you said there was a half bath.
04:44Yeah, there was a half bath.
04:45Yes.
04:46Mike, what do you think?
04:47So a half bath's right there.
04:48I mean, you could really just go through the wall,
04:50make a larger bathroom,
04:52and then we could make it a closet.
04:53We kind of split the difference here?
04:54Yeah.
04:55Yeah.
04:55So bedroom, wall is soft, put a door.
04:57This part is easy.
04:58You're not alone.
04:59A lot of families are doing that,
05:01trying to incorporate generational living into their homes.
05:05Wow, I really do think this is a huge kitchen.
05:07So what are we doing in here?
05:09This island is the bane of my existence.
05:11I would like a countertop island, not a two-level island.
05:16This is a lot of space that we could be utilizing,
05:19maybe give you a bit of a deeper island as well.
05:22Yes.
05:22You know?
05:23So what else doesn't work for you in here?
05:25One issue is this vent hood.
05:28So can I tell you something?
05:29Please.
05:29It's not plugged in.
05:31I'm just messing with you.
05:32Oh.
05:33Oh, that was good.
05:35That was good, because I was...
05:36My face was on the floor.
05:38I mean, I'm not a handyman,
05:39but if it wasn't plugged in, I would have felt bad.
05:41Nah, we check that.
05:43We check that.
05:44All right.
05:45Show us more.
05:45Okay, and obviously, we're walking on all the flooring.
05:48We'd love to refinish it.
05:51What about this room?
05:52So we would want to freshen this up,
05:55update, obviously, the built-ins and the fireplace.
05:57Okay.
05:58Built-ins add value.
06:00I don't like to take them out
06:01unless they're really, really dated.
06:04These are in good shape.
06:05I think there's a way to modernize the aesthetic.
06:08Like, babe, could you pop these off?
06:10You know, all the extra moldings and scrolls
06:13and change the hardware
06:15and maybe reface the fireplace.
06:17Yeah, that might be nice.
06:19That would be very nice.
06:20And is this it, or are we going upstairs?
06:22There's more upstairs.
06:24Okay, I'll follow you.
06:25This is a nice-sized bedroom.
06:28I mean, you've got the tray ceilings,
06:30big windows.
06:32What's not working up here for you?
06:33Lack of storage.
06:34Lack of storage.
06:35Oh, because there's no closets anywhere.
06:37Not in here.
06:38I saw a little room right here.
06:39What is this?
06:40That is our laundry room.
06:42Oh, my goodness.
06:43Ole moly.
06:44This laundry room just goes on.
06:47That is the bump-out you see in the bedroom.
06:49Yes.
06:50So imagine if we, hmm, uh-oh.
06:54What?
06:54I was going to say, come all the way down,
06:56but we run right into the window, Mike.
06:57Uh-huh.
06:58Nope.
06:59Nope, nope, nope, nope.
07:01Okay.
07:01We could build out a closet here
07:03that doesn't affect the window
07:04and steal from that giant laundry room,
07:07and you'd have all that as closet space.
07:09I love that.
07:10Yes.
07:11Can I see the bathroom?
07:12Please, let's go this way.
07:14This is the pan.
07:15What doesn't work in here, Phil?
07:17Everything.
07:17Well, wait.
07:18Let's start with what does work.
07:19What I love.
07:20I love the tub.
07:21The garden tub.
07:22Okay.
07:22Yes, it is my tub.
07:24I don't have a problem with the shower.
07:25Raymond?
07:26Yeah, the shower needs to go.
07:28I need more space.
07:29I need jets and the Smurf vanity.
07:34Super low to the ground.
07:35It is.
07:36So ideally, we would love to get a full-size vanity.
07:40This is the perfect height for me.
07:42Stop it.
07:42I had a chair.
07:43I could sit right here.
07:44We are full-grown.
07:44We need full-grown.
07:45Let's test it.
07:47Lily, show me how you brush your teeth.
07:48Okay.
07:49I just, you know, bend over and I'm good.
07:52That's too much of a hunch.
07:53That's too much of a hunch.
07:56We're going to take it out.
07:58We got to take it out.
07:59Okay, and this is the one closet that you share.
08:02The one closet, please.
08:04So we've been sharing this closet space.
08:07Uh-huh.
08:07Got it.
08:08But it's a nice-sized closet.
08:10If it was for one person.
08:11What I see is an opportunity.
08:13So on the first floor, you have a dining room, half bath, and butler's pantry that you want
08:18to turn into a guest bedroom with a full bath and closet.
08:21And then update the whole kitchen, living room, and sunroom.
08:24On the second floor, we'll take some space from the laundry to create Ray's closet so you
08:30can have your own closet with this one, Lily.
08:32And then we update the entire primary bath.
08:35Meanwhile, you'll all be living downstairs in the basement until it's finished, which
08:38may take a few months to do.
08:40Are you guys sure you're okay with this?
08:42If we're going to get everything, you know, and you're going to put your magic on it, we
08:47can make that work.
08:48But first, what is our all-in budget?
08:51$150,000.
08:52So, babe, what are we looking at?
08:54Floors, kitchen, bathroom?
08:56More like $170,000.
08:58Okay.
08:59Okay.
08:59To me, that's close.
09:00That's to me, you're at $150,000, he's at $170,000.
09:03It just means that something's got to give as far as what our finishes are.
09:08And I can give you that look for less, by all means.
09:12That's fine.
09:12Okay?
09:13Do you trust that?
09:13Yes.
09:14So we're very close.
09:15We'll work on numbers for your house.
09:16Okay.
09:16Because we know what the task is here.
09:18And it's very doable.
09:19And I, honestly, we'd be excited to do it.
09:22All right, guys.
09:23It makes full sense what they want to accomplish with the house.
09:27Of course.
09:27It's just, you know, this will be the first time we're doing a renovation of this extent
09:32in a townhome.
09:33Mm-hmm.
09:33This is true.
09:34This job is going to require a lot of smart choices and smart options and smart moves.
09:39And smart wives.
09:39All across the body.
09:40Yeah.
09:41Smart what?
09:42Wives.
09:43Oh.
09:44Yeah, that's true.
09:44Hi.
09:53Hello.
09:53How are you?
09:54Good.
09:54How are you?
09:55Good.
09:56Good.
09:56How are you feeling?
09:57Good.
09:57Are you ready for this?
09:58Yes.
09:59You're ready?
09:59Yeah?
09:59We're ready.
10:00Very, very ready.
10:00Okay.
10:01My team and I have come up with some slam dunk options that I think are going to work great
10:05and really fit into their budget.
10:07We're going very clean and transitional in this home.
10:10We want something that's going to stand the test of time, won't feel trendy, but, you
10:13know, I'm still going to put my little flair on it.
10:16Okay, where do you want to start?
10:18The kitchen.
10:18Yes, kitchen.
10:19Good choice.
10:21So, in budget, we can definitely get prefab white cabinets, but I wanted to propose something
10:27a little bit different to you.
10:29An off-white perimeter cabinet.
10:31I'm probably more, uh, yeah, I prefer the off-white than the white.
10:35So, what that would call for is us actually getting it painted, a factory finish, but
10:41the factory finish costs about $4,000 to do the whole kitchen.
10:44So, as we make some decisions, let's keep that in mind that we have to make cost-effective
10:49decisions that'll allow for us to still be able to do this.
10:51We've got to paint the picture a little bit more.
10:54We'll start by staining your floor as a weathered oak.
10:56Then the kitchen will be anchored by a designer hood on your focal wall with custom-painted
11:02off-white cabinets.
11:03We'll have satin porcelain counters and a backsplash that'll really come to life with
11:07this entire millwork element.
11:09And we'll continue that on the backside of the new larger island as well to tie it all
11:13together.
11:14And then we'll really contrast it.
11:15You'll have the opposite color stone on the island, like maybe a raven soap stone.
11:20I like this.
11:21So, hopefully this helps you.
11:23It does help.
11:24Indeterminatively.
11:25I love it against that.
11:25You love it against that.
11:26So, we go with this floor.
11:27Yes.
11:27Look at, see?
11:28Works with me.
11:29It's magic.
11:30Works with me.
11:30Okay, so let's go on upstairs then, because we've got to make some decisions about the
11:35bathroom.
11:35Okay.
11:36So, I know you love the blue.
11:37The entire back wall can be the tile, or we could do a money saver and bring in wallpaper
11:46instead, which allows us to paint the kitchen cabinets.
11:48So, we bring in the grass cloth here.
11:50I like the idea of offsetting costs so that we can have the cabinets painted.
11:56I would rather have the tile in the bathroom.
11:59So, if that means that we lose the painting of the cabinets and we just have to go with
12:05a more just standard white, I would rather do that.
12:08I would rather have the tile in the bathroom.
12:16So, if that means that we just have to go with a more just standard white cabinet.
12:20Or come up with a couple of thousand extra dollars.
12:22So, we're not coming up with an extra couple of thousand, so I'm fine having the white cabinets.
12:27I have desires if you prefer the tile.
12:31I like the shiny, too.
12:33One is a lot larger than the other, so it takes a lot more of this.
12:37And, to be honest with you, the larger tile is still a bit more cost effective, while still
12:42giving you an elevated look.
12:44You know?
12:45That makes sense.
12:46Now, we could do that, and that would save us some money.
12:48Okay.
12:48I like that idea.
12:49I like the bigger one, yes.
12:50Okay.
12:51We can go with the bigger.
12:52Okay.
12:53Well, then, now we just have to decide how we want to feel in this shower.
12:57So, this is a large format tile.
13:00Now, there is another money saver.
13:01That might roll back to $2,500 to also help us towards painting the kitchen.
13:08I think it's a good compromise.
13:09And, then, if we did that, then she could still get her kitchen painted.
13:14Yes.
13:15Just as I thought, they are not traditional in design.
13:19I threw a few things out just to see.
13:21Mm-hmm.
13:22Definitely transitional, leaning toward modern, and they bit.
13:25So, I'm going to go with my gut.
13:26If that's what she wants, I'm fine with that.
13:28Well, you got your tile.
13:29Yeah, you did.
13:30I got my tile?
13:32Wow.
13:32Okay.
13:33I got my tile.
13:34I think you've made the right decision.
13:36So, where your old shower and tiny vanity were, we'll now have this beautiful tile wall over your oak double vanity with a quartz countertop.
13:45Then, on the other wall, it'll be your spacious new shower.
13:48We'll just call that thing a car wash.
13:50And, then, we'll carry it over to the countertop.
13:53Look, with the large format porcelain tile on the walls, it'll all match, giving you a luxe for less feel and helping you save over $3,000 instead of using solid piece slabs.
14:02Then, the final piece will be a big, beautiful, 63-inch soaking tub to give you everything you want within your budget.
14:09Awesome.
14:10Fair?
14:10Yeah.
14:11It's very dramatic.
14:12Yes.
14:12You like that idea?
14:13I do.
14:14Oh, boy.
14:14All right.
14:15Well, let me walk you out.
14:16I feel fantastic.
14:18We have direction.
14:19You can sleep at night.
14:20Yes.
14:21Yes.
14:21Yes.
14:21Good sleep.
14:22Good sleep.
14:23Good sleep.
14:23It's all cleared out, man.
14:36It's ready to go.
14:37It's going to be a good one.
14:39All right.
14:39Design is done, and we are getting ready to get in here and get to work.
14:42But, I got a little bit of extra help with me, because we have two floors.
14:45We're going to get in here and knock this kitchen out.
14:47Complete gut.
14:53You clear?
15:13It's good work.
15:18We have 15 weeks for this project, but there's a monkey ridge with it.
15:21Lily and Ray are staying in the basement with their son.
15:24So, you know, staying in a confined space while demo is going on, that can be a lot.
15:31Renovation itself is a lot.
15:33But when you're staying in a home when it's being renovated to this extent, they're going
15:38to hear it all.
15:38The noise, the hammering, the drilling, and it will work your nerves.
15:43One basement, three people.
15:46Now, I know Lily and Ray say they're up for this challenge.
15:48However, I'm just hoping they can withstand the long construction timeline, because as
15:53we all know, living through any home reno isn't easy.
15:56Thankfully, after two weeks on the renovation, we've gotten quite a bit done.
15:59We've completely gutted the kitchen and owner's suite, and we've framed out the upstairs closet,
16:04as well as the new main level bedroom and bath.
16:06All right.
16:09Let's do it, baby.
16:09Okay.
16:12My own in.
16:13Excited to see.
16:14Oh, y'all been busy.
16:15You can see it as soon as you come in.
16:16Yeah.
16:17All right.
16:17So, you've extended the bathroom.
16:19Extended the bathroom.
16:20We've got our...
16:21Feels good.
16:22So, you walled this off.
16:24Mm-hmm.
16:26Why is this still here?
16:28The railing?
16:29Yeah.
16:30It was always supposed to be there.
16:33No, babe.
16:33This is supposed to come out, and the step cut flush, so the wall from this end can be flush.
16:40No.
16:40Yes.
16:50No, babe.
16:50This is supposed to come out, and the step cut flush, so the wall from this end can be flush.
16:57No.
16:57Yes.
16:58This is what was submitted to the city.
17:00These drawings.
17:01Let me see the drawings.
17:02This is not on the drawings.
17:03Look.
17:03Let me see, babe.
17:05What are you...
17:06I don't remember this saying.
17:08I wouldn't have never left this on...
17:09Look, you got the wall right there.
17:11Let me see.
17:13What are you doing?
17:14Oh, you can't zoom in.
17:21I'm sitting here zooming in on his own.
17:24I'm like, let me see the plan.
17:26Let me see...
17:27The wall's there.
17:28Uh-huh.
17:28And you got the railings right there.
17:30No, baby.
17:30That's not what that indicated.
17:32Is that what you thought of it?
17:33That very much well indicates.
17:34Oh, well, then...
17:35I don't know where the breakdown happened.
17:37So this has to come out.
17:39This cut flush.
17:40I agree.
17:41So that the entire wall is flush.
17:42So I'll call him and let him know, but that's got to come out, love.
17:45I agree.
17:45Okay, perfect.
17:55Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
17:57Come on, don't like that candle.
17:58Why not?
17:59It just makes the whole office smell bad.
18:00All right, what is the problem?
18:01It's like too strong, too sweet, too something.
18:04We're not arguing about lighting a candle.
18:06She don't like the smell of it.
18:07Why does that have to be an argument?
18:08It was just a request.
18:09Okay, that's an argument to me.
18:11What's wrong with the smell of it?
18:12I didn't...
18:12I didn't...
18:13Baby.
18:13What's wrong with the smell?
18:14You know, I love candles.
18:16Yeah.
18:16So we had that candle.
18:17We burned it one time and it had the whole office just rank.
18:21So I was asking him not to light the candle.
18:23That's it.
18:24Have you ever made a candle?
18:25They have places where you can, you know, make them.
18:27Yeah.
18:27Particular sense.
18:28I made them before.
18:29No, I'm saying, you and I, we could go on a date day and you can do an indigo candle.
18:34You know what?
18:35That's not a bad idea when I have some time.
18:37You know what?
18:37I'll just put it in my office.
18:38I'm just going to make it disappear so we don't have to have this argument.
18:42Niece of mine, niece, niece.
18:43You're looking great today.
18:45You look really fantastic.
18:49Four weeks into our 15-week schedule, the crew has started drywalling.
18:57And they covered the old walkway from the dining room to the kitchen.
19:01All right.
19:01So let's talk about the fireplace.
19:03I know we had to take those other boxes out because they just started falling apart when
19:06we tried to modify them.
19:07But I really like the idea of them still having storage.
19:11You know, storage is good.
19:12So we're going to put boxes back in here with the modern front, float shelves.
19:18Okay.
19:19So the kitchen is the off-white perimeter with the black island.
19:23Right.
19:23So I can bring the off-white over here and then do a black porcelain bookmatch or the opposite,
19:31black on both sides of the shelves and a white or off-white invert.
19:36If you do the dark on the inside, because the shelves will be lighter, and then you've got
19:40the light out here, the colors will play well.
19:44Light sofa, darker banquette, dark island.
19:48Yes.
19:48You see what I'm saying?
19:49Yeah.
19:50Yeah, we're good.
19:50So let's knock out that wall upstairs.
19:52This is not you.
19:55This is not the team.
19:56It's just something that I'm kind of feeling.
19:58So Lily and Ray wanted this great big closet here.
20:02I always had a bit of a concern about how much space we were taking away from this corner
20:07because it also blocks a bit of the sunlight there.
20:10So where are you going with this?
20:12I would love it if you found it in your heart to possibly squeeze this wall back 12 inches.
20:22No.
20:22I got to put my foot down on this one, babe.
20:31But you're built for this.
20:35I would love it if you found it in your heart to squeeze this wall back 12 inches.
20:44No.
20:44I got to put my foot down on this one, babe.
20:46But you're built for this.
20:47Yeah, I'm built for this, and I already built this.
20:51It's enough.
20:52Why?
20:53For several reasons.
20:54Okay.
20:55We've been approved for it already, not just by permitting, but the owners.
21:00Ray and Lily have seen this.
21:02Mm-hmm.
21:02And they said, we like it as it is.
21:04Please don't make any changes to it.
21:06If we were to make any changes, that means I'm pulling up all this flooring, lacing it back in.
21:11Mm-hmm.
21:11That's a cost.
21:13Mm-hmm.
21:13More two-by-fours, more framing.
21:15The electrical on the inside then has to be moved over.
21:18We're at the peak of the budget, right?
21:20Mm-hmm.
21:21It just keeps going and going and going.
21:22But I can't unsee it.
21:23That's okay.
21:25Well, then you tell me.
21:25What are we doing with this corner?
21:27Look, this could be a prayer corner.
21:29I'm going to come in and pray.
21:30I need somebody to pray for me right now.
21:35Pray for me!
21:36Because I cannot!
21:38With this corner, I can't even stretch my arms out.
21:41Can you see this?
21:42Let me tell you something.
21:43I can fit over here, so this is fine.
21:46You are being overdramatic right now.
21:48Am I?
21:48Am I overthinking it?
21:49Bring it down.
21:50Woosah.
21:50Okay.
21:51Woosah.
21:51It looks good.
21:52It feels good.
21:53And the owner said, keep it as it is.
21:56It's still going to come out looking amazing.
21:58Okay, babe.
21:59Right?
21:59You win.
22:00Yeah.
22:01You're kind of sexy when you put your foot down.
22:03You feel me?
22:04Design can't always win.
22:05We're only eight weeks away from finishing Ray and Lily's townhome, so while the crew
22:20works hard and stolen the large four-man tile in the shower, I'm taking my wife on a long
22:25overdue date day.
22:27Oh.
22:28Making candles today?
22:30Uh-huh.
22:31Very cute.
22:33Hello.
22:33How are you guys?
22:35Good.
22:35Welcome to C-Love.
22:37Not only is this date day long overdue, but it's also going to help us find our signature
22:40scent for the office.
22:43You can go ahead and grab an apron off the wall.
22:46Babe, this is a cute little date day.
22:48I'm ready to concoct something.
22:50We got to make a deal, though, Marie.
22:51Mm-hmm.
22:52Don't let nobody else make this scent.
22:54I got you.
22:55I promise you.
22:56This is how it's been.
22:57Life has been with Mike for over 20 years.
23:00Competitive.
23:01Competitive?
23:01I'm not competing.
23:02I'm just saying it's an original.
23:03Don't let nobody else make my scent.
23:04It's an original.
23:05So how did you guys meet?
23:07Gosh, it seems like it was yesterday, doesn't it, Mike?
23:09Yeah, it does.
23:10How long have you guys been together?
23:11It was 21 years.
23:13Okay.
23:13We met each other four different times, right?
23:16Oh.
23:16It was like divine intervention.
23:19The last time we met, it just happened to be that she was looking for someone to do some
23:22work.
23:23I was the contracting crew.
23:24I didn't know it was going to be her.
23:25Yeah.
23:25And it was like, all right, we need to stop playing and just make this happen.
23:28That's so sweet.
23:28And I go like this.
23:30I think I love he.
23:32Oh.
23:33You said I love you first?
23:34No.
23:35Oh, I was going to say.
23:36I was going to say.
23:37Now, that's the funny one.
23:37Whatever.
23:38Never say how old am I?
23:39The woman?
23:39I'm 25.
23:40Don't give it that bad advice.
23:41Never say how old am I?
23:42Don't give it that bad advice.
23:42Even if you mean it.
23:43I don't recommend a woman chase a man.
23:46Absolutely not, yeah.
23:46However, you can say, okay, he's marriage material.
23:49That's the one I want.
23:49Just don't let him know you want him.
23:50Just don't let him know you want him.
23:51What we're not going to do is stop the fact of her not saying I love you first.
23:54Okay, what's next?
23:56Because several times.
23:57Mike, it doesn't matter.
23:58It doesn't matter.
23:58It's not a competition.
23:59Because several times she wanted to.
24:01Oh, that's sweet, though.
24:02Yes.
24:02Okay, next.
24:06Oh, that's good.
24:07This is going to be the signature scent for the office.
24:11All right.
24:14All right, and you guys officially made a candle.
24:17Yay!
24:18Oh, that smells so good together.
24:22This is a good idea, baby.
24:24You like it?
24:25I do like it.
24:25Do you?
24:31I'm meeting with Ray and Lily at the fabric store so we can pick out some fabric for their
24:36dining banquette.
24:37Our decision to do the banquette was really a space saver.
24:40Using the banquette saves us about two feet versus if we had to put a chair on the other
24:44side, but also it does a lot for elongating the appearance of the focal wall in the house.
24:51Well, let's come take a look at this one.
24:53And really what I'm thinking is since the dinette area is what we're going for, we want
24:59to make sure that it's pretty, it's a little formalized, but more than anything, it's a
25:04performance fabric.
25:05Right.
25:05Okay, that's important.
25:06Something you can wash down.
25:07Our base palette on the main level is very black and whites and creams.
25:12If you do too much of that without a pop of color or some pattern, it gets repetitive
25:16and very boring.
25:17So I do want us to inject a color, just kind of break it up a bit.
25:22So down here you're going to have leatherettes, you're going to have microfibers, we have
25:26a lot of poly blends.
25:28Now I like this because this is a performance fabric, okay?
25:32So you can wash this down, but do you see where it gives like sway but feels like a leather?
25:37It's going to keep its form very tight, so we're not going to have to worry about people
25:41sitting on it after a while and then all of a sudden it loses its shape.
25:44Do you like this color green?
25:46I do.
25:46I love it.
25:47Fair?
25:48Yes.
25:48Let's grab our ring and we'll take it and get it cut.
25:58With just four weeks until move-in, the crew is moving fast.
26:02The floors on the main level have been sanded and prepped, so I'm headed over to check in
26:06on the stain color.
26:09My God.
26:10Who's there?
26:11Hey, baby.
26:12How you doing?
26:13We good.
26:14Yeah?
26:14Yeah.
26:16I was looking at the floors.
26:19What is it?
26:19Did they test the stains yet that I sent?
26:22We started.
26:22Can I take a look at them?
26:24It's not complete.
26:25So we started here, but we had four patches here and it just wasn't working at all, so
26:34we're sanding them off.
26:35Sanded it off?
26:36Sanded it off, yeah.
26:37I mean, if the goal was to get here.
26:38So, it looks like this color was very close, though.
26:43Wait.
26:44I got an email.
26:44I thought we were changing to blonde.
26:47I got an email from the home.
26:49Now, they didn't get that from me.
26:50I know we're starting with this.
26:52Wait, wait.
26:52Was it from the homeowner?
26:53I don't know.
26:55Because I'm wondering if they changed that line.
26:57That's why this is lighter than this.
27:00I mean, they're downstairs.
27:02They're cute.
27:02They're here.
27:03Hello?
27:04Knock, knock.
27:05Hello?
27:07Hi, I didn't know you were here.
27:08I walked right by you guys.
27:09How you doing?
27:11Keep out.
27:17Hello?
27:18Knock, knock.
27:19Hello?
27:20Hey there.
27:21Keep out.
27:22We have our only clean space in the house, apparently.
27:25Can we come in?
27:26Hey, come on.
27:27Do we have to take our shoes off?
27:28You're funny.
27:29No.
27:30That's funny.
27:33Hi.
27:34How are y'all?
27:35No, the question is, how are you?
27:38We're managing.
27:39Yeah?
27:39You sure?
27:40Yeah.
27:40I know the space you're living in down here is just your office and bathroom.
27:43So, right now, you're just, like, on top of one another?
27:46Oh, yeah.
27:46It's causing fussing?
27:48Actually, no.
27:49No, not fussing.
27:50We went into this committed to staying married.
27:53Yes.
27:54Dang.
27:54So, we are still going to be married.
27:56So, we will still be married.
27:57That's good.
27:57We will still be married.
27:57At the end.
27:58Everything else is just inconvenience.
28:00All right, so let's do this.
28:01Let's make some progress.
28:03Okay.
28:04Yeah, that's a lot to deal with all day.
28:07Mike got a change order for the floor to be blonde instead of weathered gray.
28:10Did that come from you?
28:11Yeah, I think that's the choice.
28:12It's from us.
28:13You want to go blonde and stay?
28:14Yeah.
28:14Okay.
28:14Luckily, that's a minor change since we haven't started staining yet.
28:17It's not a problem.
28:18And honestly, the blonde will look good, too.
28:20It'll make the dark island really pop.
28:22Yeah.
28:22I just wanted to make sure that's something you wanted before moving forward.
28:26I know this is a long one, but we're almost there, guys.
28:28Hang in.
28:29We'll keep checking on you.
28:32Yeah.
28:32Do I need keys to get in the door next time?
28:34Just ring the doorbell.
28:36We'll know.
28:37Where's the doorbell?
28:38We'll see you on the camera.
28:39There's the doorbell.
28:41That's the doorbell.
28:41All right, we're out of here.
28:43All right.
28:43So one of the rooms we're designing for is the new guest bedroom, which used to be the
28:53dining room.
28:53But since our budget is a little tight, my plan is to save money by creating custom artwork
28:59to make it truly pop.
29:00Ooh, hey, ooh, okay, okay.
29:10Hey, hey, what you doing?
29:11Ooh, hi.
29:12I'm sorry I scared you.
29:13I thought I heard some noise going on.
29:15Oh, noise?
29:16Yeah, noise.
29:16Oh, my singing is noise?
29:18Yeah, what's going on?
29:18Seriously, what are you doing?
29:19You know, this is one of those projects where we got to make it do what it do, get creative.
29:22So I'm doing a little DIY so we can save where we can.
29:26And I came across this really, really cool art project using weather stripping.
29:31So I'm going to try it.
29:32This is my first time.
29:33If it goes bad, we trash it and nobody says a word.
29:35But if it goes great, it goes on the wall.
29:38So the idea is I'm going to take the weather stripping, outline it, then I can paint it.
29:44Okay.
29:44And then it's going to be a texturized art.
29:47So this has its own jam.
29:48This has like an amoeba kind of thing going on.
29:50This has a jam, right?
29:50An amoeba.
29:50Yeah.
29:51It's perfect.
29:52You waiting for me to agree with you?
29:54Yeah.
29:54When it's done, I'll let you know.
29:56The truth is when I actually go over.
29:59Oh, yeah.
30:00Look at that.
30:01I got about nine colors.
30:03And so this color is a deep gray.
30:06And then, yep, I'm going to use some olive and taupe.
30:09So that's where we're going.
30:10Okay.
30:11Looks good.
30:12All right.
30:12Let's get to work.
30:18With only two weeks left before Ray, Lily, and their son can move out of the basement
30:22and back into the rest of their home, the crew has stained and put a protective clear poly
30:26on the floors.
30:27Upstairs, Ray's closet is in.
30:30And the kitchen cabinets are set, giving it a whole new look.
30:34Let me roll.
30:34Oh, I just wanted to look at something again.
30:39Hey.
30:40What's up?
30:41I came to cause trouble.
30:43Oh, gosh.
30:45I know.
30:46I came to see it.
30:47I knew you guys were setting this today.
30:48It's kind of dramatic, or?
30:49It is.
30:50I mean, it just, it's a whole new kitchen, right?
30:53Yeah.
30:54The only thing that is not correct is we, I can tell that these measurements are off,
31:01because we didn't have double pantry cabinets on the side of the vanquette.
31:06I was literally just checking all of that.
31:08So we just have to decide, do we want to keep the larger one?
31:11We can get three people there.
31:12We have three chairs on this side.
31:13That's too tight.
31:14Can I see your body?
31:17Oh.
31:18Okay.
31:19If we're eating, see?
31:22Your elbow shouldn't touch.
31:23If I'm here, now I have space, and you've got a little bit of overhang.
31:27Now you're eating, and now, now you, yeah.
31:30Okay.
31:31So now we have a little space.
31:31Wait, wait, wait, wait.
31:32If you're where you are, you move over.
31:34You've got to have a floor tight.
31:35Okay.
31:35Okay, interlock arms now.
31:37Interlock.
31:43Okay.
31:43I'm in favor for breathability and taking the two inners out.
31:48I mean, the takeout, easy.
31:50Well, trust me, we'll find a space for additional storage somewhere.
31:53We won't be at a loss.
31:54We won't be at a loss.
31:54It's only one week until reveal.
32:16Ray and Lily have been in the basement with their son for a little while now.
32:21So I already know that they were bursting at the seams.
32:23What I decided to do was put them in a hotel as we're getting up to the home stretch for a few reasons.
32:28I think they need to just, whew, woosah.
32:32Yep.
32:32But also, I don't want them to know what it looks like, because I'm almost certain they've been tiptoeing up here in the middle of the night.
32:37They've been our third designers, right?
32:38Easily.
32:39They're the night crew.
32:40Yeah, so just, you know, for a week, we'll send them away to a hotel.
32:43Yeah.
32:43With only a few days left, the kitchen countertops are going in, the fireplace surround is going up, and my wife's tambour veneer is finally here.
32:55Well, I think we definitely need it to bring some more color in.
32:58To the right.
32:59Oh, Lord.
33:01Okay.
33:02Right now, it's all hands on deck.
33:05I'm excited.
33:05I feel great about this project.
33:07Hey, right there, that was just up a little bit, just a little more, because there's, yes, there's a white line at the bottom.
33:13Yeah.
33:14And that gives it to us.
33:16Give it to the people.
33:17They really deserve it.
33:18They waited years to do this, and we're so glad they trusted us and our team with it, and we just wanted to knock it out the park.
33:26Moment of truth.
33:27Yeah.
33:27That's going to work, though.
33:28That's it.
33:29All right.
33:30Damn, thank you for your support.
33:32Oh!
33:33Not bad, not bad.
33:36Here we go.
33:37Here we go.
33:37Here we go.
33:37Here we go.
33:37Here we go.
33:37Here we go.
33:38Here we go.
33:38Here we go.
33:39Here we go.
33:39Hello?
33:40Hello?
33:40Hello?
33:40Hello?
33:41Hey, don't, don't, don't come in.
33:43Okay, okay.
33:44Don't, don't.
33:44Hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it.
33:46They live here.
33:46Hey, hey.
33:47Hey.
33:48Hey, hey.
33:48Welcome home.
33:49How are you?
33:50Good, how are y'all?
33:51Good.
33:52Hi.
33:52Hey.
33:53Hi.
33:53How was the hotel?
33:54What's up, brother?
33:55It was very nice.
33:57We needed to get away from it.
33:58We did.
33:59And that basement wasn't working out, after all.
34:01No.
34:02Hey.
34:02You can't get away fast enough.
34:04Listen, our main goal on the main level, you wanted a new kitchen.
34:07Yes.
34:07Yes.
34:08You also wanted a main floor guest bedroom.
34:10Yes.
34:10And full bath for families, so when they stay with you.
34:13Yes.
34:13So let's check out your bathroom first.
34:15Let's go.
34:15All right.
34:20Look at that shop.
34:21Wow.
34:22Look how big that is.
34:23Yeah, that's perfect.
34:24We can both, isn't it?
34:25We sure can.
34:27Perfect for this floor.
34:28It's on this main floor, so if my mom, she doesn't have to climb this, that's maybe.
34:32Right.
34:33So no, this is ideal.
34:34Exactly.
34:35All right.
34:36Here we go.
34:37On to the bedroom.
34:38Yes.
34:39Okay.
34:41This is amazing.
34:43This is nice.
34:46Oh, this is perfect.
34:47We actually have a bedroom.
34:49This was the dining room.
34:50This was the dining room.
34:51But you weren't using it as that.
34:52No.
34:53So you didn't need one.
34:54We've used it as a makeshift bedroom in the past for Ray's mom, but now it's fully functional.
35:00Right.
35:01Much more purposeful use of the space.
35:03You like that artwork?
35:04I tried something different.
35:05I made that.
35:06I do, actually.
35:07I think it complements well.
35:08She breathes over the fact that she literally made that herself.
35:11Are you serious?
35:12That's a custom piece?
35:13She'd have known that's why she was asking.
35:14I did.
35:15You know, hint, hint.
35:16If you said you didn't like it, I would disclaim it entirely.
35:18No.
35:19It was my first time trying this.
35:20You gotta put your initial on it, you know?
35:21We were looking for your name.
35:22I'm gonna sign it back.
35:23No, that's nice.
35:24I love it.
35:25Okay, now we're on to the main event.
35:27Let's go check out that kitchen.
35:29Alright.
35:30Welcome home.
35:31Wow.
35:32Wow.
35:33Wow.
35:34That island.
35:37You wanted to get a new kitchen.
35:40Come on, let's go see it.
35:41Let's check it out.
35:43Wow.
35:44Okay.
35:45I am speechless.
35:50Oh my, I don't know where to look.
35:52I know where to look.
35:53Go.
35:54The countertop and the backsplash is amazing.
36:00You chose that.
36:01We did, but it wasn't in.
36:04Well.
36:05Seeing a slab and then seeing it in is totally there.
36:07And what do you think about that off-white color on your cabinets?
36:09Did we nail it?
36:10That's perfect.
36:11Perfect.
36:12So it matches.
36:13It looks really good with the white stone backsplash.
36:15I think you needed a little bit of depth in there because now it makes the island make sense.
36:20Yes, it does.
36:21You know, it pulls it straight up.
36:22That island.
36:23That island.
36:24That island.
36:25Absolutely.
36:26You remember.
36:27This is nice.
36:28You had those red oak floors.
36:30Yes.
36:31You had the maple cabinets.
36:32Yes.
36:33And they were shorter, but you had these amazing 11 foot ceilings.
36:37Yes.
36:38So it's about really bringing the eye up.
36:39Right.
36:40For a dramatic effect.
36:41Absolutely.
36:42So much cabinet and storage space.
36:45Yes.
36:46The sink is so deep.
36:49Very good.
36:50Yes.
36:51I'm glad y'all the ones doing this because I didn't have an eye for this.
36:54Not at all.
36:55Not at all.
36:56This looks really good.
36:57And then the banquette, this fabric color, the green.
37:01Oh, my God.
37:02Sit down.
37:03Sit down.
37:04Let's see if it's comfortable for our big booty.
37:05Wow.
37:06It's definitely big booty approved.
37:07And it's comfortable.
37:08It is.
37:09Okay, this might be my spot.
37:10I don't know.
37:11I like this.
37:12Yeah.
37:13This is a space saver now because if you had to really put chairs on that side,
37:18you have to slide everything out a bit, right?
37:19Yes.
37:20So that it floats off the wall.
37:21It gives the illusion that the space is even larger than what it is.
37:24Right.
37:25It fits perfectly.
37:26Perfect.
37:27And now it all just flows right into the sunroom and living room.
37:30Yes.
37:31Oh, the tambour and the fireplace looks amazing.
37:34We changed out the hardware and the shelving to give it a more modern look.
37:37Just refaced it.
37:38This works.
37:39It's the small touches that tie everything in.
37:42Together.
37:44Yes.
37:45Things I'm not even noticing.
37:46It didn't matter.
37:47It's really your specialty, Egypt.
37:48It's your specialty.
37:50She's part Tambourian.
37:53Get out of here, Michael.
37:55Do you miss what you had here before?
37:57Don't even remember.
37:59Don't remember.
38:00It was very traditional.
38:02I mean, it was nice, but no, this looks better.
38:05I love because it now gives the illusion of going all the way to the ceiling.
38:09It gives that height.
38:10Yes, again.
38:11I like this much better.
38:12When we brought the cabinet height up, we needed to bring the view of the fireplace up as
38:16well.
38:17If we'd left the cabinets the way they were before, your eye would have stopped.
38:20In this moment, how are you feeling?
38:22Relieved.
38:23Yeah.
38:24Because it's done.
38:27It is done.
38:28Oh my gosh.
38:29Relieved because it's done and it's gorgeous.
38:32It is.
38:33It looks amazing.
38:34It does.
38:35Because I couldn't have visualized this.
38:36Well, hold on because we still got to see that new primary suite upstairs.
38:39Yes.
38:40We did.
38:41That was important.
38:42Yes.
38:43Let's go check it out.
38:44Go check it out.
38:45All right.
38:46Oh, wow.
38:47Nice.
38:48Very nice.
38:49You got a grown up bedroom.
38:50This is a grown up bedroom.
38:51My goodness.
38:52Love the pendant lights.
38:53This is really comfortable and cozy.
38:54This is a spacious bedroom.
38:55Oh, I love when you brought the blue in with the curtains.
38:56And to think the bedroom wall used to go all the way back there.
39:01You don't miss it, do you?
39:02No.
39:03And now you have this amazing closet bray.
39:06Yes, we do.
39:07Oh, yes, sir.
39:08Yes, we do have an amazing closet.
39:09Yes, sir.
39:10Yes, we do have an amazing closet.
39:11Yes, sir, with the closet.
39:12Look at Lily.
39:13She wants this closet.
39:14I mean, it's nice.
39:15Don't get too comfortable, though.
39:16Don't get too comfortable.
39:17We'll see.
39:18This isn't your space.
39:19Depending on how mine look, you might have some competition.
39:20Yes, you've seen enough.
39:21Oh, okay.
39:22This is my closet.
39:23All right.
39:24The royal crown.
39:25Yeah.
39:26That's the bathroom.
39:27That's the bathroom.
39:28You don't miss it.
39:29You don't miss it.
39:30You don't miss it, do you?
39:31No.
39:32And now you have this amazing closet bray.
39:33Yes, we do.
39:36Love this.
39:39Look at the tile.
39:40This is nice.
39:41It looks so good.
39:42I'm going to come this way.
39:43Yeah.
39:45And that tile saved you another $1,000, remember,
39:48because of its size and shape.
39:49Oh, my gosh.
39:50But you never know it.
39:51It looks great.
39:52It's like the perfect mix.
39:53This is nice.
39:54But you stay over there.
39:55I'm going to come this way.
39:57Wow, a nice wet room.
40:01Look at the rain head.
40:03It is nice.
40:04It's nice.
40:06Oh, wow.
40:07You could turn.
40:08I feel like we shouldn't be here right now.
40:12Don't threaten me with a good tub.
40:14And look at the tub.
40:16Lily, go in.
40:17Go in.
40:18I can go.
40:19All right.
40:20What you mean?
40:21We have plenty of room.
40:22It's ours.
40:23Egypt and Mike can come in here, too.
40:24Well, see, that's a whole nother episode.
40:25That's a different show.
40:27AC TV After Dark.
40:29Wow.
40:30And now that Ray has his own closet.
40:32Yes.
40:33Lily, this one is all yours.
40:34All mine.
40:35All my space.
40:37This is nice.
40:38You got yours.
40:39I got mine.
40:40This is gorgeous.
40:41Yeah, we have plenty of room now.
40:42Good, good.
40:43So this works.
40:44Come on back.
40:45Take it all in, and then we'll head downstairs.
40:46OK.
40:47We have seen some pretty phenomenal interiors
40:50in this neighborhood, but if you're asking my opinion,
40:53I think it's the best.
40:54It turned out very well.
40:55I'm in love with the shower.
40:57I have plenty of space.
40:58I can turn around.
40:59It can fit two of us.
41:01So that's a winner for me.
41:03I got my body jet, so I'm good.
41:05I am blown away by that island,
41:08and I was in love at first sight.
41:10Egypt pushed us in terms of embracing risks,
41:14and it's gorgeous.
41:15This has been a journey together.
41:17Yes, definitely.
41:18I think that was the hardest thing,
41:20you being here hearing the rattling and the banging
41:22and what's going on upstairs.
41:23Yeah.
41:24Right?
41:25Yeah.
41:26It's a lot.
41:27It was a lot, but this looks really good.
41:29It does.
41:30It really looks good.
41:32Yep.
41:34So here we go.
41:35Purchased the house for?
41:37408.
41:38408, which was an amazing purchase.
41:41So investing in a renovation at 150,
41:44that's where we came at, right?
41:46Yes.
41:47So all in all, 558.
41:48Yes.
41:49Now, you already know the values around here
41:51have gone up to.
41:52Well, you thought, the highest one, 685.
41:54Oh.
41:55Wow.
41:56685.
41:57And look how much equity is still left.
41:58Good.
41:59Yes.
42:00Are we staying or selling?
42:01Oh, we're staying.
42:02Oh, we're staying.
42:03Oh, we never.
42:04I mean, we lived through it, so we staying.
42:06Right.
42:07You know, at the end of the day, happy client,
42:10great finished product, nap time.
42:13You're not lying, babe.
42:18This project was massive.
42:20But to know Lillian Ray are happy with the final outcome
42:23is what makes it all worth it.
42:25So at this point, I don't know if we do a victory dance
42:27or we just lay on the floor and go to sleep.
42:29Relax.
42:30This is very nice.
42:32Yes, I couldn't see it initially.
42:33Exceeded our expectations.
42:35Yes.
42:36So are you happy?
42:37I am.
42:39It's a winner.
42:40Yep.
42:42What I'm going to need y'all to do now
42:43is take down that door from downstairs, that plastic door.
42:45Yes.
42:46Oh, yeah.
42:47Do you want to go rip it down?
42:48Come on, let's go rip it down.
42:49Yes.
42:50Absolutely.
42:51And then we can frame it.
42:53There you go.
42:54Put your initials on it.
