00:00Well, let's get to the road to repeat here, brought to us by our friends over at Celsius.
00:04Hockey fans, don't sit this one out when it's game time.
00:07Make Celsius a party to play and get that energy up.
00:09Game day is fueled by Celsius Essential Energy Drinks, the official energy drink of your
00:14Lord of Panthers.
00:15So the Panthers, they lose yesterday 3-0.
00:19It was mostly 1-0 the entire game.
00:21Last couple minutes, they pulled Bob, who was tremendous yesterday.
00:25His boys let him down as the Panthers really just sloppy.
00:30Couldn't really get anything to stick.
00:32Didn't look too fast.
00:34Very reminiscent of the last time we saw them lose, which was game six of the Eastern Conference
00:39semifinal against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
00:43Just didn't look like they had everything.
00:45Now, listen, to be fair to them, they didn't have everything.
00:48One of the calling cards of this team has been their depth and how much everybody else
00:54gets involved in the scoring.
00:55And, you know, yesterday they have a game where Reinhardt remains out with the knee injury.
01:00They say he's day-to-day.
01:02We see him in the locker room before game three.
01:04And this is an odd thing, too, because we're coming off of a long weekend where the Cats
01:07on Saturday, tremendous win.
01:11I mean, that thing was absolutely on fire with how they just completely avalanched the Carolina
01:18Hurricanes and just killed them in the third period.
01:21And then you have yesterday where it's like, yeah, you could bust out the brooms.
01:25You could finish this puppy off.
01:28But also, we can't act like the Cats went into this thing with a super desperate measure
01:35because you sat Mikula, which, you know, I didn't even think there was going to be a chance
01:39that Mikula was going to go.
01:40And Paul Maurice was talking about the day beforehand.
01:42He's like, yeah, you know, there'll be a game-time decision because he went flying into the boards
01:46in game three after his couple of goals.
01:48I mean, he's been one of the Panthers' best players in this series.
01:53And you could just see that, all right, they got a little cute with it.
01:58That fourth line that they've been able to rely on, Greer was out of that.
02:01So, you know, now you're bringing in Belinskis.
02:04And it's just like, all right, let's see how much can we stretch this depth thing out.
02:08They're switching up the top line.
02:10They're putting Marsha in there.
02:11Now he's not on the finish line.
02:12They're putting Boquist back there.
02:13But, you know, so they were trying some things.
02:16They shook it up.
02:16It didn't really work out too well for the Cats.
02:18Kachuk didn't play fantastic yesterday either, Leroy.
02:22I mean, ultimately, you're in a golden spot.
02:25You're up 3-1.
02:26You're going into their barn tomorrow, a place you've already won twice.
02:31Yeah, Freddie Anderson had a shutout.
02:34Very, again, reminiscent of what happened to Wall in the Toronto series.
02:38And then we know what happened when it came time to clinch it.
02:41I just don't think you can fake desperation.
02:44And I don't think the Panthers had a lot of it yesterday.
02:47I just didn't think they had that.
02:49There's a couple things when you're in these situations that you have to know.
02:54It's do or die for them.
02:55And sometimes that level of do or die when you're playing that opponent, it's unmatched.
03:12And it means that it catches you off guard.
03:15And it just looked like the Panthers weren't ready for their desperation for whatever reason.
03:22They looked faster.
03:25They looked, you know, they were being more aggressive.
03:28They were hitting more.
03:30That's how a team plays that's desperate.
03:34And if you don't match it, then you're going to play in these close, you know, games.
03:41And I just think that at some point, they're going to have to say, look, we got to be done with this.
03:47I don't care what the – it's a race to four.
03:50Get there as quick as possible and move on.
03:52We'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
03:54And I'm more than sure one of the things that this team has done, unbelievably, during the course of Paul Maurice's stint as coach, is they bounce back.
04:06You know, they – he's had the conversation with not only us, but with his team about what parts of that he liked, what parts he didn't.
04:13And he says it even keel.
04:16He doesn't get too irritated.
04:18And then they move on.
04:19So I fully expect them to – for some reason, they play.
04:24They're a little nastier on the road.
04:26They're too nice when they come home, right?
04:28I mean, they weren't very nice on Saturday.
04:31They weren't very nice on Saturday.
04:33They – you know, and that was another – I mean, that was a game where they had to show a lot of resolve, too, because you had the bogus call on Lester Rainin getting the five-minute major.
04:42They kicked him out for the game misconduct.
04:45And Polar Bear was just – I mean, he was killing it.
04:48I mean, he's been so damn good in these playoffs.
04:51I was out on Atlantic Avenue.
04:53I was having a nice date night with the wife, and it was on every TV on the bars.
04:58And there was this one bar that was like – they were like – they had giant screens.
05:03Everybody could watch from the street.
05:05And then, like, Mikula scores.
05:08They play the goal song.
05:10There's confetti raining down.
05:11And I was like, this is goose.
05:12He's galore, dude.
05:13And we watched, and, like, the span of them going up for – it was 2-1, them going up 4-1.
05:18I'm like, this puppy's over.
05:20It's over, dude.
05:21And, you know, even after that, Rob Brindamore was basically, like, you know, he's calling out his – like, if you – if you are a hockey player with any sort of pride, the way that his coach was talking about none of the stars showing up, them having to look at themselves in the mirror,
05:36like, if you're – like, if you have any modicum of pride, you got to bounce back in that performance.
05:42You just do.
05:43Right.
05:43And even that being said, it was a one-goal game the vast majority of this game.
05:48And the catch just couldn't –
05:50Yeah, so even playing their worst game of the series, the score was 1-0.
05:55Yeah, Bob was incredible, yet again.
05:57He's been playing incredible.
05:59He's been incredible between the pipes, again, since game three of last series.
06:03He's – great, good for them.
06:07They snapped their 15-game conference final losing streak.
06:10I have zero worry going into this next game with how they're going to bounce back.
06:15I have more – you know, I know that this team will bounce back because they've shown it.
06:22They've shown it a lot in the last two or three years, and so I have no doubt.
06:27Now, my only concern is the injuries.
06:32Yeah, they're not great.
06:33I mean, especially the idea that – I think Rhino's the one you're scared of the most.
06:37I think Mikula – I think Mikula and Greer, I think they got a little like –
06:41But that's the nasty guys.
06:44Yes.
06:44Right?
06:44And, like, you could see with them out, the game wasn't very – like, it was physical,
06:51but not like the Panthers normally – the Pens normally shut people down.
06:56There was a lot of free skating.
06:57So, if those guys get back, then I think, you know, the Panthers have shown anybody can score.
07:07You know, you don't need to start a score, but defensively, those guys have been really good.
07:12And said, Joe, take a break, buddy.
07:15Take a break?
07:15What do you want him to do?
07:16I'm just saying.
07:17He's out there all the time.
07:18Yeah, I mean, like, what do you mean?
07:19That's what he's – that's – so, like, but you're acting like that's a criticism of this.
07:23No, it's not.
07:24But it's just like, man, every time – like, every time I see who's out there, he's always out there.
07:34Like, it's got to be – is he 25, 30 minutes a night?
07:38Jay Gatto says, Sealer at On Up was on the drums last night.
07:41Yeah, he's banned now, though.
07:42Whoa.
07:43He's banned.
07:45We got to get Kenny G.
07:47I saw a tweet.
07:50I think it was from Mike Sanchez on Twitter.
07:52I think he makes a good point where maybe it's time for the Marlins and Dolphins to take a seat on these drums.
07:59Like, you know, I think right now the Panthers don't need any other sports influence on their team.
08:07And I was like, you know what?
08:08That's kind of a good point.
08:09They had Trick Daddy on Saturday.
08:11Find somebody else.
08:12Find other celebrity routes.
08:14Kodak Black.
08:14Get Ariana Grande.
08:16Get Kodak Black.
08:16Get somebody just of celeb status.
08:21Like, I don't think that the Canes need any stink.
08:25Or the Cats need any stink around their team.
08:29Oh, so you're saying –
08:30And I love Zach Sealer.
08:31Don't get me wrong.
08:31The other organizations.
08:34You just – you know, unless you're bringing in Dwayne Wade, like you're bringing in, like, Heat Royalty.
08:40Dan Marino, you're still cool.
08:41But anybody who's a current player in town –
08:44Bad mojo?
08:48It's not good mojo.
08:51It's not good mojo.
08:52And it pains me to say that as a Zach Sealer fan.
08:56I love Zach Sealer.
08:58But I was like, eh, maybe.
09:00Maybe it is time to – every other team's plume just wafted out here.
09:05I just don't –
09:06I'll tell you what.
09:08Have Bill Zito do it.
09:11I don't think you do – I don't think that's – I think if you're on the current team, that's not what you do.
09:14I know.
09:15But, I mean, he was tossing water bottles a couple years ago.
09:19I could definitely see the intensity.
09:20He probably still was.
09:21Like, Bill Zito seems like the kind of psycho that, like, is still throwing a water bottle even though his team's up 3-0.
09:25So, I could see that.
09:28Yeah.
09:28I could see that.
09:29But I don't – I just think if you're a Panthers fan, one, there's legitimately no – there's no real worry you could have.
09:38Like, they have clearly shown themselves to be the better team.
09:41Yeah.
09:42They didn't have their full deck.
09:44And they didn't play a good game.
09:48There aren't many sweeps simply because sometimes the puck bounces weird and sometimes you get a lot of breaks and whatever.
09:57Yeah.
09:57Was it Schmidt who, like, blasted it right off the pose?
10:01I'm just like, oh, my goodness.
10:03So, things – you know, those things happen.
10:06I was more disappointed at shot attempts.
10:11Like, they didn't really get a whole bunch of attempts until late.
10:14But, yeah, the first two periods it was dominant for Carolina.
10:18Right, which is something that in the last – the first three games, when you look at the numbers, the Panthers were out shooting them by ridiculous amounts.
10:29Right?
10:30And, you know, you can't make it if you don't shoot it.
10:34So, I hate the passing back and forth.
10:36I don't even think this is something that, like, needs a lot of analysis on it.
10:39Like, they're up 3-0.
10:41They've dominated this series.
10:43You had a desperate team.
10:44The Cats kind of maintenance programmed it.
10:47And they got shut out.
10:49Like, yes, we could talk about depth until the cows go home.
10:53But, like, yeah, they're going to – there's sometimes when things aren't going great and you don't have your stars show up.
11:01Like, not having a Sam Reinhardt will affect you.
11:03Not having a Nico Mikula who's been playing amazing will affect you.
11:06That fourth line has been great, but now you're, like, really, like, seeing – all right, now you've tested your depth.
11:13You've shown your depth.
11:14But then you're really testing your depth.
11:18And, okay, we saw what the result was.
11:20The result was not fantastic.
11:22Not the worst game they played.
11:24Not – it wasn't – I didn't think it was even as bad as their game six against Toronto.
11:28I thought that was a worse performance than this one was.
11:30Because this one just kind of felt like, let's see if we can get it.
11:33Ah, we were a little bit off.
11:35All right, go finish business on – in Carolina.
11:42Schmethan says Tobin's going to tear up his rotator cuff, cranking up the excuse machine.
11:46What excuses?
11:47They're up 3-1.
11:48Like, I don't even understand that, Schmethan.
11:51What – you don't need excuses when you're up 3-1.
11:54You're up 3-1.
11:56Like, this is crazy to me.
11:58Sometimes – sometimes I wonder, like, have the Panthers fans – do you guys remember the things you've been through?
12:04Do you know what real adversity is compared to fake adversity?
12:08Like, when you're down 3-1 to Boston, a one seed, and you have to come – that's real adversity.
12:15When it's like, you are on the brink of infamy and you've got a game seven, that's real adversity.
12:21Even, like, the Toronto game when they lost six, I was like, I don't know.
12:25You know, this team going game seven, kind of have a lot of faith in them.
12:28They deserve it.
12:29They deserve that faith.
12:31I can't think – there's not a real Panthers fan.
12:35I'm talking a real Panthers fan.
12:36Not some carnival marker.
12:38If you're a real Panthers fan with concern after that game, even if they were to lose game five, which they won't.
12:47But even if they did, do you think they're going to do that – they're going to let this team that they've smoked, you think, like, all of a sudden, oh, it's really – you're faking yourself if you're thinking that.
13:01I can't – I can't see you as a real person or a real sports fan.
13:06It just seems ridiculous to me.
13:08Is that, like, I just try to explain, you know, the game without doing a lot of – oh, no, what are they doing?
13:21Like, come on, take a break.
13:23It's fine.
