00:00It's Benzinga bringing Wall Street to Main Street.
00:02Vidya will begin mass production of a new AI GPU for China as early as June,
00:06offering a lower-cost alternative to its now-restricted H2O chip, according to Reuters.
00:11The new processor is part of the Blackwall architecture,
00:14features weaker specs and conventional GDDR7 memory
00:17instead of more advanced high-bandwidth memory.
00:20The move follows the H2O ban in April, which forced Vidya
00:22to write off $5.5 billion in inventory
00:25and abandon $15 million in projected sales.
00:27Vidya's CEO Jensen Huang said the company can no longer modify
00:30its older Hopper architecture to meet evolving restrictions.
00:34China accounted for 13% of Vidya's revenue last year,
00:37but its data center market share has dropped to 50%,
00:40with Huawei gaining ground.
