The Network of Survivors of the Social Outburst in Chile has officially severed ties with the government, citing a lack of progress in addressing human rights violations stemming from the 2019 protests. teleSUR

00:00In Chile, Senator Fabiola Campillai, a representative of the National Network of Survivors of the Social Outbreak,

00:06ended their relationship with President Gabriel Boric's government.

00:10During a press conference held in the Historic Center of Santiago,

00:13Campillai explained that the presidential candidate at the time had met with them in May 2022

00:20to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive reparations roundtable.

00:24However, three years later, they denounced the Undersecretary of Human Rights

00:28for the lack of progress, abandonment of victims of Pinochet's dictatorship,

00:33and the complete absence of political will to fulfill this long-awaited commitment.

00:37The senator also announced that she would not be attending the next public hearing on June 1

00:42because she believes that the government has failed in the struggle for human rights

00:46and has supported laws that have released human rights violators.
