00:00:00He is of course trained by his father Angel, very close relationship, it's been a factor
00:00:04in the pre-fight buildup as Denny's dad is, shall we say, extremely vocal and boisterous
00:00:09in support of his son.
00:00:11Let's find a little different side of the very volatile character that champs dad.
00:00:22When I was five I lived on the street and we had to walk to school about a whole mile
00:00:28up and every day on the way back me and my brother used to fight other people, we used
00:00:32to fight every day.
00:00:36And then my dad, you know, we grew up watching boxing together, he used to be like, hey Denny
00:00:40put your hands up, shadow box, do this, do that.
00:00:43We watched Tyson fights.
00:00:44He used to ask me, Dad, can you beat Tyson, yeah I can beat him, Daddy, why not, he used
00:00:49to believe it too.
00:00:51I first walked into the boxing gym when I was seven and they said I couldn't box because
00:00:55I was too young.
00:00:57So I came back when I was ten years old with my dad and we kind of learned together.
00:01:01I always knew Denny had it because I used to take him to tournaments and he'd be in
00:01:06the ring, wow, that kid, you know, he thought he was white, oh that white boy could fight.
00:01:10I know everybody loves their children but it's a special love I have for him.
00:01:15Denny was born, he was born with a umbilical cord around his neck, basically he was suffocating,
00:01:19he was hanging himself.
00:01:21You know, when he was born, when the doctor told me that, you know, I heard him breathing
00:01:28again so I was like, wow.
00:01:30I knew right then, Denny was gifted.
00:01:33He's not the child that he was but I still always think that he's my little son.
00:01:38Jack, go down in four, five, counting, I got more knockouts than he got, don't matter dog.
00:01:43Tries to protect me, still thinks I'm a little kid but, you know, I let him do him, that's
00:01:48just the way he is, the outspoken person.
00:01:50I'm Denny's last guy, so I just make everybody hate me and love him.
00:01:57He doesn't talk and I do the fighting.
00:01:59WBC, WBA, I don't give a fuck about you.
00:02:02He's like my best friend, he's my dad and my best friend.
00:02:08He's inspirational because he beat cancer.
00:02:12Throat cancer, when I went to the hospital, I was dying stage, I was stage four on four
00:02:17on cancer, dying stages.
00:02:19When he was going through it, I always looked at my dad like, he's going to be okay, that's
00:02:23my dad.
00:02:24You know you look at your dad like Superman.
00:02:25I said, I'm not going to die, I'm going to take care of my children.
00:02:31So that's what made me a strong man today because I love my children.
00:02:37Now that I look back on it, he could have really died and that's when I started to understand
00:02:41life and know how serious it was and we just became even tighter.
00:02:46If my dad could beat cancer, I could beat anybody and I use that every time I step into
00:02:50the ring.
00:02:56Well I'm glad people get to see a different side of Angel Garcia because you'll meet him
00:03:00outside of a press conference and he's a sweet guy.
00:03:03You wouldn't know that if you just watched him with his son at news conferences and brings
00:03:06up a point.
00:03:07There's so many stars in this division, there's one guy going through them all, one by one
00:03:11and it's Danny Garcia.
00:03:12What do you expect here, Mauro?
00:03:13Well I think Danny Garcia first and foremost is the man right now at 140 and yet he's not
00:03:18without his fair share of critics.
00:03:19Let's face it, nobody is perfect, although he cringes at the thought that some people
00:03:23believe that his highest profile victory against Amir Khan was the result of a lucky punch.
00:03:27Let's face it, Brian, you land a punch, it's not lucky.
00:03:29He told us he fainted to set up his money shot, aka the left hook, and in training for
00:03:35the fight tonight against Judah, he says he's been seeing the punches better and he told
00:03:39us that he's going to be the fastest you've ever seen him when he is in the ring for the
00:03:43second time here in Brooklyn, coming off, of course, his second victory over the fading
00:03:47Mexican legend, Eric Morales.
00:03:48So Garcia really working on becoming a well-rounded individual, not just a big puncher.
00:03:54And Paulie, I can only think of a few fighters who have had real, actual success against
00:03:58Floyd Mayweather Jr., the number one pound-for-pound guy in the world, and that is Oscar De La
00:04:03Hoya, who had a sizable points lead, as did Zab Judah.
00:04:06Yes, Zab Judah, people remember that.
00:04:08Now, at this point in the game, what do we expect?
00:04:11Can he keep that going against a younger, fresher guy?
00:04:13Oh, we're going to find out tonight, but one thing you have to keep in mind about Zab Judah,
00:04:16how many guys will you see that have accomplished what Zab Judah has in his career, yet their
00:04:20career is considered underachieving?
00:04:23That goes to show you just what was expected of Zab Judah.
00:04:25I remember people talking about him in the amateurs, people talking about him when he
00:04:28first turned pro.
00:04:29This was the next superstar.
00:04:30This was a guy who was going to dominate the pound-for-pound list.
00:04:32He has always been ultra-talented.
00:04:34People have always expected a lot from him.
00:04:37In that way, anytime he shows up as an underdog, there's always a lot of people picking him
00:04:40because they see the ability.
00:04:41They see that if he would actually put it together, what he can actually accomplish.
00:04:45Having said that, Danny Garcia is no slouch either.
00:04:47He's coming here to win the fight, and he's the world champion, but the thing about Zab
00:04:50Judah has always been he's lacking mentally what Danny Garcia has.
00:04:55Danny Garcia, by many people's criticism, may be lacking physically what Zab Judah has.
00:05:01He's solid.
00:05:02He punches hard, but he may not have the physical gifts, but at the same time, Zab Judah may
00:05:07not have that mental fortitude Danny Garcia has.
00:05:09I understand exactly what you're saying.
00:05:11These guys will throw out.
00:05:12They're not getting cued in there, as they say in the old parlance of boxing.
00:05:15What do you expect to see in the ring?
00:05:17We've had so much drama surrounding this fight and all the turmoil, and sometimes when you
00:05:22have all that, it builds the gate.
00:05:24It builds the interest in the fight, but it obscures the fact that inside the ring, it
00:05:28should be very interesting.
00:05:30Let's take a look at the keys to victory.
00:05:3535-year-old former champion Zab Judah has had a rollercoaster career filled with ups
00:05:41and downs.
00:05:42This battle with Danny Garcia is likely his last chance to ascend up the track again,
00:05:48and he knows he'll have to use his skills and smarts to do it against a man 10 years
00:05:53his junior.
00:05:55Here's how he might do it.
00:05:57His aging legs must provide him enough movement so he does not have to stay in the pocket
00:06:02and trade with the power-punching Garcia.
00:06:05Judah needs the discipline to offer offense in spurts, followed by movement to frustrate
00:06:11Garcia.
00:06:13Counterpunching against the charging Garcia is essential for Judah.
00:06:17Another hard charger, Lucas Matisse, tasted Judah's counterpunching when they fought.
00:06:22Matisse lunged in to throw a left, as Garcia sometimes does.
00:06:27Judah kept his focus and nailed him with a big uppercut, just as he hopes to do in this
00:06:33fight against the sometimes off-balance Danny Garcia.
00:06:38As a young champion, Danny Garcia has gained acclaim for his last two knockout victories.
00:06:43His hell-bent-for-leather style has pleased boxing fans, but given his opponents headaches
00:06:48– literally.
00:06:50His keys are all about aggression.
00:06:53Garcia needs to push the pace from the opening bell, testing Judah's resolve and his stamina.
00:06:59Part of that test for Judah should be absorbing Garcia's body punches.
00:07:03Danny is a very good body puncher.
00:07:05When Garcia can land the left hook, it usually means a quick night's work for him.
00:07:12This is the left hook that changed Garcia's career and life.
00:07:15A low right hand by Amir Khan invited the Garcia left hook.
00:07:21If the lefty Judah gets his right hand down low, after a lazy jab for instance, this scene
00:07:27could be repeated and it could give Garcia another big win.
00:07:57The time has come for the bout you've all been waiting for.
00:08:01It's time for Danny Garcia vs. Zab Judah.
00:08:10Going into Brooklyn and fighting him, it doesn't really matter.
00:08:13I've fought people in their backyard before.
00:08:16I think that, you know, I'm a rep for my city, my city gonna rep back for me.
00:08:19I've been in hostile territory before.
00:08:21As long as there's a ring and gloves, I'm comfortable and that's what I do.
00:08:25I can beat anybody.
00:08:26Whether we was here in New York City or we was in Philadelphia or we was in Florida or
00:08:30we was in Las Vegas, fighting is what I know how to do and I do it well.
00:08:33I'm a fighter.
00:08:34If we fight to the death, Brooklyn Ballcade Center, that'd be phenomenal.
00:08:39I mean, the fans can expect what they've always been seeing.
00:08:41One punch knockout.
00:08:42Oh, and the left hook catches him.
00:08:43There it is.
00:08:44This isn't the first time we've seen this.
00:08:45It's going to be the knockout of the year.
00:08:50Once I knock out Danny Garcia, as far as boxing, that's my house.
00:08:56Well, no one can discount Zabjudis' superlative skill set.
00:09:02He has allowed his emotions to get the better of him in high profile situations over the
00:09:06course of his 17 year career, including the build up to this fight, which culminated with
00:09:11him unleashing a diatribe on Golden Boy Promotions after feeling he was disrespected here in his
00:09:16hometown at Thursday's press conference.
00:09:18Is he completely focused on the task at hand?
00:09:21We're about to find out as he makes the walk to the ring for what could be his last hurrah.
00:09:28And now, making his way to the ring, the challenger from Brooklyn, Zab Super Judah.
00:09:40When the smoke clears, will Zab Judah be the man to leave with the 140 pound title?
00:09:45He's a former 140 pound champ, an ex-undisputed 147 pound top dog.
00:09:51He is coming off a 9th round TKO win against the previously undefeated Vernon Parris in
00:09:56his last fight in his home borough here in Brooklyn in March of last year, but really
00:10:00he has been from one extreme to the other in his professional career.
00:10:04And you know, Zab Judah said when they built this arena and they put this ring in, he said
00:10:10I feel like they built this ring for me, I feel like I'm gonna feel right at home here,
00:10:14Paul, that's something you can understand.
00:10:16Yeah, you know, nothing like fighting in your hometown as a fighter.
00:10:19Barclay's arena is a brand new building, so for the Brooklyn fighters, the only dream
00:10:23was ever to fight in Madison Square Garden, so to fight right in your home borough in
00:10:26an arena with an atmosphere of this magnitude, it's a special feeling, and for Zab Judah
00:10:31who's been a pro for so long to finally get to do it right here in such a big event, in
00:10:35a mega fight, you know, I can only imagine the adrenaline he's feeling right now.
00:10:39I know I felt it a few months back, you know, so the atmosphere, the adrenaline that rushes
00:10:45through your body when you have all this, it's really, words can't do it justice.
00:10:49He grew up in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, Brownsville and Flatbush, a very tough, rugged
00:10:55neighborhood where it was either swim or be drowned, he told us that he is a changed man
00:11:00for real, he doesn't party, he doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he relocated to Las Vegas
00:11:05in 2007, and he lives a militant life, a fighter lifestyle, he says it's one of the reasons
00:11:10why Bernard Hopkins can be 48 and still be terrific in his fights, he says it's something
00:11:15that he may have picked up late, but he's locked and loaded and ready to go.
00:11:19And I think that new lifestyle and a different focus on boxing, we'll see if it makes a big
00:11:23difference in this fight, he believes it has, he thought it did in his last fight with Bernard
00:11:28Parrish when he won against the young fighter.
00:11:31And it's that Brooklyn pride he's feeling right now, he gets in the ring, he's feeling
00:11:34it right now, again, like I said, the adrenaline, he's very prideful to finally be here, it's
00:11:38a big fight in Brooklyn.
00:11:50Danny Garcia's been content to allow his father Angel to handle the majority of the vitriol
00:11:55filled verbiage that has been exchanged between the two camps, the champion felt he was robbed
00:12:00of the opportunity to look into Judah's eyes and snatch his soul from his body when they
00:12:05were kept apart at the final press conference and yesterday's weigh in, he wants to prove
00:12:09to everyone who is still not a believer that he is more than just a paid puncher, he is
00:12:16eager to make Judah's scout number 26 in his growing collection.
00:12:21And let's not forget Garcia, just two hours away, a two hour drive away from Philadelphia,
00:12:26we shouldn't be surprised if he'll have a lot of support here.
00:12:29Coming off a highlight reel knockout win over fading Mexican legend Eric Morales in the
00:12:45first boxing event here at the Barclays Center last October, the first boxing card in Brooklyn,
00:12:50a world championship fight since 1931, he wants to make 2013 his year.
00:12:59And now, here is the undefeated world champion from Philadelphia, Danny Swift Garcia!
00:13:13While Brooklyn is Judah's hometown, a mixed reaction for Garcia, a smattering of cheers
00:13:18but a lot of boos as well, he's headed into hostile territory tonight.
00:13:23And as we pointed out, Philadelphia is not that far away, there are some fans and they
00:13:27said there would be some in the arena, a very large and vociferous crowd, fun to see that,
00:13:33we saw it certainly last week.
00:13:37And everyone on their feet here in anticipation of this main event, people have been waiting
00:13:40for this fight, it got cancelled already the first time and finally it's happening now,
00:13:45there's a lot of anticipation here and there's a buzz in the air.
00:13:49The fight was supposed to take place in February, Garcia suffered a reported rib injury, Judah
00:13:56taking to social media, firing salvos, believing that the rib injury was nothing more than
00:14:01a cover up for the fact that maybe Garcia was getting a good taste of the highlight
00:14:06poly, winning the title, enjoying the big money, he believed that Garcia wasn't in shape
00:14:11for the title fight, that's why he pulled out but we have to go by what Garcia's cap
00:14:16says, they say it was a rib injury.
00:14:18Or whatever it was, we're here now, so none of that should matter, neither of these guys
00:14:23should be thinking about that, like I said there's a lot of anticipation, the build up
00:14:27was very tense and now as Garcia makes his way into the ring you hear a lot of boos but
00:14:32here we are, we're just minutes away from the belt.
00:14:34And here's the tale of the tape for this junior welterweight championship bout.
00:14:45We take a look at it, the numbers are similar but that reach advantage for Zab Judah could
00:14:50be important because he needs to fight from a distance and he wants to catch Garcia as
00:14:55we said as he comes in, he can't be on the inside slugging with him or right in the pocket.
00:15:01Guys, one thing to notice, there's a lot of security separating them, they don't want
00:15:06them near each other even before the belt.
00:15:08Alright, here once again the classy Jimmy Lennon Jr.

00:19:05One of the best referees in the business, Steve Smoger, administering final instructions,
00:19:12extra security in the ring.
00:19:14The gentleman in the red t-shirts to ensure there was no extracurricular activity prior
00:19:20to the opening bell.
00:19:21There has been plenty of drama leading up to this fight, but the verbal and social media
00:19:25samples will now be replaced by the physical punches in what has become a ranker field
00:19:30grudge match for the unified junior welterweight championship.
00:19:36The bell in round one, the forecast calls for fistic fireworks.
00:19:39We'll see if the meteorologist is right for a change.
00:19:45They expect, the Garcia camp does, that Zab Judah will try and get off to a very quick start.
00:19:50Lunges in with a right hand to the body.
00:19:54Judah working the body with that right hand.
00:19:57Zab, a very good jab for a southpaw, very sharp.
00:20:00Looks like they used it a lot in trying to dictate it with it in the first round.
00:20:04This is Judah's 296th professional round.
00:20:07He has fought more championship rounds, 137 now, than Garcia has fought total rounds,
00:20:12this being his 129th.
00:20:18The champion Garcia in the snakeskin, black, white and green.
00:20:21The challenger Judah in the black and white.
00:20:30You know Garcia has an excellent left hook.
00:20:33He's got a pretty good right hand, which he hopes will be in evidence here tonight.
00:20:36You know what's interesting? We think of Garcia as the puncher.
00:20:39Zab Judah's knockout percentage is higher than Garcia's.
00:20:42It's 69% to 64%, so Zab Judah has some pop as well.
00:20:4829 of Judah's 42 career wins have come inside the distance.
00:20:52Garcia has 16 knockouts on his resume with a perfect 25-0 record
00:20:57as the crowd is on fuego here at Barclays Center for this main event.
00:21:02Nice straight left hand to the stomach there by Judah.
00:21:04You see Garcia trying to loop that right hand around the guard.
00:21:07And it's working.
00:21:10A lot of southpaws look for the straight right hand.
00:21:12They know right hand isn't going to throw that right right hand straight.
00:21:14So I think Garcia is trying to surprise Judah by looping it around instead.
00:21:21The atmosphere in here is truly electric.
00:21:23And if these fighters can produce anything of interest, and we expect them to,
00:21:28this crowd is going to be very, very animated.
00:21:34Final 60 seconds of the opening round as the champion launches another right hand to the body.
00:21:39Again, another right by Garcia as Judah looks to establish the jab.
00:21:44Triple pumps the jab from the southpaw stance.
00:21:48Zab Judah has moved mostly to his left in this fight, staying away from the left hook of Garcia.
00:21:53But Garcia has taken advantage of that by landing right hands.
00:21:56Yeah, and even if they haven't all landed cleanly, it's controlling Zab.
00:22:00Zab tried that right uppercut on the inside. He missed it.
00:22:02He went for it, trying something different.
00:22:05Double jab by the challenger Judah.
00:22:08Garcia swinging and missing with the right.
00:22:17The Judah can't help but Garcia will lunge with the right or the left hook where Judah can counterpunch him.
00:22:23Danny staying patient himself.
00:22:25He'll take the right hand to the stomach if that's all Zab gives him.
00:22:28A close opening round here between the champion Danny Garcia, former champion Zab Judah as we go to round 2.
00:22:58Keep going to your left, okay?
00:23:00Keep going to your left.
00:23:01Stand right here.
00:23:02You're touching him.
00:23:03You know him.
00:23:04Listen.
00:23:05He's dropping.
00:23:06He's trying to come up with the overhead left.
00:23:07He's dropping his left.
00:23:08He's right.
00:23:09Watch for that hook.
00:23:11Alright, thank you.
00:23:14That right hook?
00:23:15Sitting there.
00:23:16Alright, you gotta control this, man.
00:23:18Control this fight.
00:23:20Control it with your jab.
00:23:21Don't let him get off first.
00:23:23Don't let him get off first.
00:23:25Alright?
00:23:26Keep it right.
00:23:27Come on.
00:23:38Round 2 underway.
00:23:42How often does this happen?
00:23:43In the first round, Garcia threw 41 punches.
00:23:46Judah threw 42 and they both landed 8 punches according to show stats.
00:23:51And Garcia just landed another nice right hand.
00:23:54And that's 2 of them as Judah looks to land the jab.
00:24:02Neither guy right now putting a lot of muscle behind their offense.
00:24:05They're just trying to find the range.
00:24:07See if they can touch the opponent first before trying to load up.
00:24:21And Paula, you made a good point.
00:24:22The right hand by Garcia is freezing Jab Judah right now.
00:24:25Even when he throws it, it's stopping Judah from throwing anything.
00:24:29And you know, this round he came out throwing it straight.
00:24:31You know, last round he looped it the entire round.
00:24:33This time he came out throwing it straight.
00:24:35I kept trying a little trickery, seeing if Zab was looking for that looping one this round.
00:24:38Instead, he came out straight.
00:24:42Inviting our viewers to get involved via social media.
00:24:45An NFL quarterback, Mike Vick, taking in the action.
00:24:49He's picking Danny Swift in 8.
00:24:51Swift made the bold prediction of stopping Judah in 4.
00:24:55Mike Vick had better pick him.
00:24:57He's the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and Danny's from Philadelphia.
00:25:00And a big Eagles fan.
00:25:01Yeah, exactly.
00:25:03He came with a full Eagles personnel to the fighter meeting.
00:25:06Stiff right hand to the body, followed up by an overhand right by Garcia.
00:25:12And they're not all landing cleanly.
00:25:14But they're starting to land as Judah returns the favor with a left hand to the body himself.
00:25:17And what they're doing is they're keeping Zab under control.
00:25:20Aside from a pauling jab, Zab snaps it out once in a while.
00:25:24Danny controlling Judah.
00:25:29It is intriguing that even with no jabs landed by Garcia.
00:25:33This is fascinating.
00:25:34You can control a fight with something else.
00:25:36And we pointed out he's controlling it with the lead right hand.
00:25:40Two right hands from Garcia connect.
00:25:43Under a minute remaining in the second round.
00:25:45Now Judah's starting to let go with that left hand.
00:25:47Which he has to do.
00:25:48And he should be landing a counter left sometimes when Garcia throws the right hand.
00:25:53But that's the thing, Alex.
00:25:54Garcia mixes the right hand.
00:25:55Sometimes it comes looping.
00:25:56Sometimes it comes straight.
00:25:57It's hard to time it.
00:25:58Do you keep your glove in front of you?
00:25:59Keep the glove in front of your chin?
00:26:00Or do you keep it on the side of your face?
00:26:01Because if you mistime it, you're going to get hit clean.
00:26:03That's a great point.
00:26:05Both fighters were Olympic team alternates.
00:26:08Judah in 96.
00:26:09Garcia in 2008.
00:26:12Both guys more than willing to engage this round.
00:26:14Starting to open up.
00:26:17Garcia started boxing at the age of 10.
00:26:20Went 107 at 13 as an amateur.
00:26:22As Judah puts together a two punch combination.
00:26:25Judah started boxing at the age of 6.
00:26:28And went 110 at 5 as an amateur.
00:26:31Good action in round 2 as we go to 3.
00:26:34That was a shot by Jack Judah.
00:26:37Landed at the bell.
00:26:38Garcia smiles.
00:26:40The clean best punch of the fight so far for Jack Judah.
00:26:45Early in that round, Garcia throwing to the body where he does throw very well.
00:26:59And again, that right hand is stopping Jack Judah.
00:27:03Again, a good example of it.
00:27:05Zab unable to counter it.
00:27:07But then later in the round, this was the left hand that Paulie was talking about.
00:27:12Or at least one of them that he landed toward the end of the round.
00:27:15It wasn't perfect, but he's starting to find the range with that punch.
00:27:20And right at the end of the round, that was the left hand that I think did more damage to Danny Garcia.
00:27:25So, it's heating up.
00:27:33Garcia, one of only five current world champions to hold more than one alphabet title in the same division.
00:27:38The others, Canelo Alvarez, Andre Ward, Juan Francisco Estrada.
00:27:42And Vladimir Klitschko.
00:27:43As round three gets underway here, Judah looking again to establish the jab at the get-go.
00:27:48Garcia coming in with the right hand.
00:27:51You see Garcia kind of pulling with that straight right.
00:27:53Then turning south on throwing the right hook.
00:27:55A little creativity by Garcia.
00:27:56And these are the sort of things that I talk about to people what Danny Garcia does.
00:28:00He does these little subtle things.
00:28:01He's tricky.
00:28:02He may not be as athletically gifted as Judah, but he makes things work.
00:28:05He studies his opponent.
00:28:06He makes adjustments.
00:28:07And you see him doing these little subtle things.
00:28:09And that was one of them.
00:28:10Good head movement by Judah.
00:28:13Very slick defensively.
00:28:15Has always had the tools to be an all-time great.
00:28:17And he's been at the top of the mountain before.
00:28:19And getting yet another opportunity here at the age of 35.
00:28:23To become unified 140-pound champion.
00:28:27The Garcia camp feels that what Zab Judah brings to this fight solely is the left hand.
00:28:32And so far he hasn't been able to land that.
00:28:36And the power punches landed clearly.
00:28:38Garcia, almost all of those are right hands.
00:28:40He's thrown almost no left hooks of those 29.
00:28:43And he's clearly outlanding Judah by a wide margin in terms of power shots.
00:28:47Now you make mention of the fact that the Garcia camp worries only about Judah's left hand.
00:28:51By throwing the right hand so much and mixing it up, you're forcing Judah to keep the left hand in his pocket.
00:28:55He has to keep it by his face to guard that defense.
00:28:58Because the right hands are coming from weird angles.
00:29:00So he can't always let go of his left hand for fear that a wild right hand might catch him.
00:29:04Yep. That's a really great point.
00:29:06Midpoint of the third round.
00:29:08Garcia loading up with the right hand.
00:29:12Left hook from Judah.
00:29:18Judah goes downstairs with a one-two combination.
00:29:20Garcia unleashes a straight right.
00:29:23Double pump on the jab by Judah.
00:29:26Things heating up here in round three at close quarters.
00:29:28Judah again with the double jab upstairs.
00:29:30Garcia able to sneak a right hand to the body.
00:29:33Still early in the fight, but eventually Judah's going to have to start taking a little bit more chances with that left hand.
00:29:38Still early, though. He still has time.
00:29:41Under a minute remaining in the third.
00:29:47Garcia again coming forward, lunges with that right hand.
00:29:51Quick follow-up with the right.
00:29:53Misses with that sweeping right hand.
00:29:56Judah now with a straight left hand.
00:30:03Final 30 seconds of the third round.
00:30:06We see a few seconds back Judah landed a straight left hand.
00:30:08Got it in a clinch and smiled at Garcia's corner.
00:30:14Judah still very fast at the age of 35.
00:30:16Doing a good job of bobbing and weaving and great head movement.
00:30:20There he goes again with that straight left hand in a clinch.
00:30:22May have found a little something there.
00:30:25Three rounds are in the book.
00:30:28Three rounds are in the books here at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
00:30:30Garcia versus Judah.
00:30:57Great crowd on hand here at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for tonight's championship doubleheader.
00:31:26Earlier tonight we saw New York resident Peter Kinchoclaquillen retain the WBO middleweight championship.
00:31:32At stake in the main event, the WBA and WBC 140-pound titles.
00:31:38The champion Danny Garcia in the black, white, and green.
00:31:41The challenger Zab Judah in the black and white.
00:31:44Round four underway.
00:31:46Now Danny Garcia's fought three lefties before, including Mike Arnaudis.
00:31:50And he seems comfortable.
00:31:53He's using primarily the right hand, not mixing in the left hook to keep the southpaw there.
00:31:59But he's doing very well.
00:32:01One thing to note is at the end of the last round, Judah finally started having some success with his left hand.
00:32:06I want to see if he can continue that momentum early in this round.
00:32:08He let go of a nice left hand a few seconds ago.
00:32:10He walked into a right hand from Garcia.
00:32:13It's important here. It's a crucial part of the fight for Judah.
00:32:16He needs to start establishing a little bit of respect as Garcia's starting to walk him down a little bit.
00:32:20Garcia is walking him down with that right hand.
00:32:23A couple of left hooks to the body, short left hands.
00:32:26Double pump jab from Judah.
00:32:29Comes in with that swimming jab, right uppercut.
00:32:33That's the thing. The variation will keep the other guy busy and a little bit defensive.
00:32:39Under two minutes remaining here in the fourth round.
00:32:41Straight right to the body by Judah.
00:32:44Danny Garcia is a very solid, competent fighter.
00:32:48There's a straight left hand.
00:32:50He is not great at anything. He's good at everything.
00:32:54What that makes for is the sum of the parts is special.
00:32:58Garcia doing a good job of pairing a lot of the shots from Judah.
00:33:02As we near the midpoint of the fourth frame.
00:33:05He may not be great at anything, but he's shown himself to be an overall great fighter.
00:33:10Absolutely.
00:33:11Paul, you mentioned the fact that Judah has to start establishing that left.
00:33:14He's really kept it in his holster for the large part of this fight.
00:33:17Yeah, and that's due to the right hands of Garcia.
00:33:20They're not always hard, but they're coming at weird angles.
00:33:23And they're forcing Judah to keep a defensive hold on his left hand.
00:33:26Both now attacking the body.
00:33:28There's a nice left hook.
00:33:30That trademark for Garcia who smiles and nods at Judah.
00:33:33I got you. And now Judah's saying, yeah, but you didn't hurt me.
00:33:37Well, the fact that Garcia mixed in the hook to the body.
00:33:42The fact that he's not mixing that punch in is even more bad news for Zab Judah.
00:33:51Judah needs to take a chance here in combination.
00:33:53He's got the speed to pull it off.
00:33:55He's landing left hands here and there.
00:33:56If he can follow it up with some speed combination behind the straight left hand,
00:33:59it may be well served.
00:34:01Because he needs to establish a little bit of respect for Garcia.
00:34:03Garcia a decade younger than Judah.
00:34:05Wanting to put the pressure on.
00:34:07Wear down the veteran former champion.
00:34:10As we head into the final few seconds of the fourth round.
00:34:14Another right hand lands by the champion.
00:34:18This fight's starting to look a little bit like Judah Khan.
00:34:21And that's not good for Zab Judah.
00:34:24In that fight he was vanquished in the fifth round by Amir King Konzo.
00:34:29And this was the round that Garcia said he would eliminate Judah.
00:34:33But Judah will see round number five.
00:34:41Earlier tonight in a super middleweight bout.
00:34:44Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
00:34:46Playing host to another one of Brooklyn's favorite sons.
00:34:48Danny Jacobs faced Keita Collins.
00:34:50And he stunned him.
00:34:52Knocking him down twice in the fourth round.
00:34:54Before the referee Shada Murdoch stepped in.
00:34:57To protect the fallen fighter.
00:34:59That came at the 206 mark of round four.
00:35:01And with that TKO victory.
00:35:03Jacobs improving to a good career here with 206.
00:35:09Good career here with 22 knockouts.
00:35:11And of course even better news for Danny Jacobs.
00:35:14The fact that he felt another lump in his back.
00:35:16Went to the doctor and discovered that it was not cancerous.
00:35:19He remains cancer free.
00:35:21He remains the miracle man.
00:35:22And here he is in attendance.
00:35:24Surrounded by his family after another scintillating win.
00:35:27Improving to 25 and 1 with 22 KOs.
00:35:32Lovely young man and a very fine fighter.
00:35:35Also the recent winner of the Courage and Overcoming Adversity Award.
00:35:38By the Boxing Writers Association of America.
00:35:40Boy did he do that.
00:35:41And let's see now.
00:35:42What kind of adversity is in store for either Garcia or Judah.
00:35:45Here in round five.
00:35:46It's Garcia again.
00:35:48Looking to walk down the challenger.
00:35:50Judah.
00:35:51Wanting to slip the punches.
00:35:53Catches those shots on his arms.
00:35:54Oh and lands a nice overhand left.
00:35:57And daunting numbers in the last round.
00:35:5917 power punches landed by Garcia.
00:36:01To 3 by Judah.
00:36:03And a few seconds ago you saw Judah laying a good straight left hand.
00:36:06But Garcia came right back with two shots of his own.
00:36:09This is what I mean about Judah needing to come with a combination behind the left hand.
00:36:12Because Garcia started a lot like Peter Corley did in the first fight.
00:36:15Waiting on the left hand.
00:36:16And coming right back on his own.
00:36:18Straight right connects by Garcia.
00:36:20The good news is that all of the vitriol.
00:36:22All the enmity has been left outside.
00:36:24The rope says.
00:36:25Thus far it's been all according to the Marcus of Queensborough rules.
00:36:29With Garcia beginning to punish Judah.
00:36:33As he comes back with a double jab.
00:36:36And Danny Garcia who has twice lost points because of low blows.
00:36:40Against Ashley Fiafain and Aiden Hernandez.
00:36:43Has thrown to the body a lot.
00:36:45But not gone low.
00:36:46Has been at the belt line a few times.
00:36:48But you're right.
00:36:49Has not strayed south of the equator.
00:36:52A minute 45 remaining in the fifth round.
00:37:00Good show. Good show.
00:37:01Garcia wanting to box out.
00:37:03But Judah puts the grip on him.
00:37:05Referee Smoger calls for the break.
00:37:07Garcia lands a left hook to the head.
00:37:09And then downstairs to the body.
00:37:14Garcia starting to really put those body shots in the bank.
00:37:17Straight right connects.
00:37:21Garcia coming forward.
00:37:23Double pops.
00:37:24There's a left hook that connects.
00:37:26And the right hand to the head is starting to land.
00:37:28Because Judah's leery of those right hands to the body.
00:37:30That Garcia's consistently throwing.
00:37:32He's leaving his face a little open.
00:37:35Good variation by Danny Garcia.
00:37:36Final minute of the fifth round.
00:37:39Judah comes back with a one-two combination that's blocked by the champion.
00:37:43Right hand to the body by Garcia.
00:37:45Smoger again intervenes.
00:37:47So far a great job by the referee.
00:37:48Ooh, that sweeping left hook just missed.
00:37:51And Judah finally tried that uppercut he's known for.
00:37:53But he just came up short.
00:37:55He's been unable to land that punch.
00:37:57Oh, and he hurts Judah with that right hand.
00:38:03Left hook upstairs.
00:38:04Judah along the ropes.
00:38:06Trying to recover.
00:38:07Judah's at bat right now.
00:38:08Judah's at bat right now.
00:38:09He doesn't know how to survive.
00:38:10He's talking to Garcia.
00:38:11Let's see.
00:38:1225 seconds.
00:38:14Another right hand backs up Judah.
00:38:16Left hand, right hand to the head.
00:38:18Judah absorbing all kinds of punishment in the corner with 15 seconds left.
00:38:22Trying to find out.
00:38:25He's got a crunch, guys.
00:38:27And that's exactly what he does with less than 10 seconds remaining
00:38:31in a terrific round for the champion, Danny Swift Garcia.
00:38:55No.
00:38:56You gotta get busy.
00:38:57You let him take too much from you.
00:38:59This is the punch from Danny Garcia.
00:39:02A straight right hand that wobbled Zab Judah.
00:39:05He's landed so many of those, but that one was flush.
00:39:08And Judah, with some gamesmanship to try and work his way through this,
00:39:12urging Garcia to come forward.
00:39:15A very clever veteran who, even in a dire moment,
00:39:18has enough presence of mind to do something else to help him through this tough spot.
00:39:23One more look.
00:39:24And again, a left hand from Judah.
00:39:26Nothing to follow it.
00:39:28Again, just like Quillen made the adjustment to Guerrero on just his sole left hand,
00:39:32Garcia did the same thing.
00:39:33He landed on the left hand, caught it, and countered it.
00:39:36Eventually, a fighter will adjust if you don't follow up with a combination.
00:39:40Round six underway.
00:39:42Judah has been down nine times in his career.
00:39:46He's been taught three times.
00:39:48And Judah now absorbing stiff shots from the champion, Garcia.
00:39:52Unloading with the left hook.
00:39:54Judah stumbles out of the way but remains on his feet.
00:39:57And there's a right hand that backs up Judah.
00:40:00The champion beginning to tee off on the challenger.
00:40:05But Judah remaining steadfast.
00:40:10He hits his heart to show that he's got it.
00:40:12The 35-year-old veteran, he's been in wars.
00:40:15That's that Brooklyn pride, Zab's in Brooklyn.
00:40:17He's not going to go out without a fight.
00:40:19He's been in there with Alexa Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto.
00:40:24Highlight real victory over Corey Spinks in their rematch.
00:40:27And listen to this crowd, Danny Chase here in Brooklyn.
00:40:31A thunderous chant from the electrified crowd enjoying every single second of the action
00:40:37as Smoger wants to break up the Velcro-like grip from Judah.
00:40:42Steve Smoger not an intrusive referee, but he will do what he has to do
00:40:47if somebody's holding.
00:40:50Judah trying to get the left hand off.
00:40:52And he rocks him with that right!
00:40:54And he's still on his feet.
00:40:56Unbelievable chin on Judah Garcia.
00:40:59Oh, he's got to be careful.
00:41:02Judah's kicking back with some hard left hands there.
00:41:05Judah.
00:41:14Judah clenches, wanting to clean, clear out the cobwebs.
00:41:18Wants to regain his faculties.
00:41:20Backs up in the corner, though, where Garcia wants him.
00:41:23Unloads another straight right, and Garcia just wants to hold on for dear life.
00:41:27It was fascinating, as Paulie said, that Judah was able to throw a very good left hand
00:41:32and got one of them in.
00:41:34But he's not hurting Danny Garcia with those.
00:41:37And even if he's not hurting him, you know Garcia's what he's feeling,
00:41:40but that's the thing about what I was talking about earlier,
00:41:42Danny Garcia's mental strength and fortitude.
00:41:44He knows he's got his man hurt here.
00:41:46There's nothing that's going to stop him from trying to finish him.
00:41:48And the crowd again exhorting Garcia.
00:41:52And I'm sure there's some cheers for Judah as well, who is showcasing his heart
00:41:57and not going down yet in this fight.
00:41:59And there's something you don't see much of, right hooks from Zab Judah
00:42:02and actually landed.
00:42:04Thirty seconds left in the sixth round.
00:42:07Garcia has been teeing off on the face of Zab Judah and yet to knock him down.
00:42:13Judah now looking to establish the jab as it seems like he's got the bounce
00:42:17in his steps again.
00:42:19How long, we don't know.
00:42:22What a solid effort by Danny Garcia.
00:42:25And he told us this was the best training camp of his career.
00:42:28And he looks great.
00:42:34Garcia continues to rack up the points.
00:42:36We're through six.
00:42:47Danny Garcia had this moment early in the round.
00:42:51He had Zab Judah against the ropes.
00:42:56And we will see how he wobbled him.
00:43:00Literally you could see his legs come off the canvas and did a little stutter step.
00:43:07And Angel Garcia, you see his reaction and Yo Judah.
00:43:12Very different reactions clearly to what they're seeing.
00:43:16Yo Judah used to train Zab Judah.
00:43:20For this fight.
00:43:23And the right hand again, that's the one that wobbled him.
00:43:27Judah with left hand and right hand very, very low.
00:43:31And Angel Garcia is able to get the job done with that right again.
00:43:34That's the thing, Judah thought he had escaped the danger zone,
00:43:37but Garcia found him with an extra right hand.
00:43:39And 62-9 was the edge in power punches landed in the last two rounds.
00:43:45At the halfway point of this title fight there have been no knockdowns,
00:43:49Judah's legs were wobbled with 37 seconds left in round five from an overhand right.
00:43:54He survived the rest of the round, but he lost a lot of steam in his punches after that.
00:43:58He was hurt again, a minute 18 in a round six.
00:44:07Unofficial scores at the halfway point now.
00:44:10We are in virtually complete agreement.
00:44:13Paulie and I with a slightly bigger edge than our colleague Steve Favre.
00:44:17He's got a four-point edge for Garcia, but clearly we're in general agreement.
00:44:31Judah double pumps the jab, counter right hand from Garcia.
00:44:35Opening minute of the seventh round, and a very patient Garcia.
00:44:41Very composed, wanting to show off all of his wrinkles.
00:44:44Wrinkles, talked about being faster than he was in his last fight here at the Barclays Center against Morales.
00:44:49Told us that he sees punches better.
00:44:54What has impressed you the most out of Garcia in this fight, Paulie?
00:44:58I'll tell you, just the variation. He's known, he's went to the body, he's gone to the head.
00:45:02He's mixed the kind of right hands he's thrown.
00:45:05He's stalking his man just like he always does once he knows he has him.
00:45:09Mental strength is always there, but I like the offensive variation.
00:45:13Yet he stayed alert to the defense.
00:45:15And yet, Al, Judah's been there, done that, will not go down without a fight.
00:45:19Well, you know, some have questioned his intestinal fortitude.
00:45:25One of the things he's shown here tonight is just that.
00:45:28And even gamesmanship to help him get through the rough moments.
00:45:32But what he needs, and he's tried, is to land something big in terms of a counter punch.
00:45:36His speed has slowed down as Garcia begins to attack the body again.
00:45:43Under a minute remaining in the 7th round.
00:45:46For the WBK and WBC super lightweight titles and the ring magazine.
00:45:51140 pound crown held by Garcia, digging away at the body with the left hand.
00:45:56Ducks down and Judah connects.
00:45:59Judah misses with that left cross.
00:46:02Smoger calls for the break.
00:46:04And remember, the second portion of fights is where Zab Judah has issues.
00:46:08And we are in the second half of this tilt as Judah comes forward.
00:46:12Sticks a stiff left hand into the face of Garcia.
00:46:16Right hand downstairs, and that may have been a little below the belt line.
00:46:20Steve Smoger saying, it was legal, but just barely keep fighting.
00:46:25Sweeping left hook misses from Garcia.
00:46:28Final 10 seconds.
00:46:29Another action packed round here.
00:46:32As Garcia and Judah are headed to round 8 at the Berkley Center in Brooklyn.
00:46:42Fight!
00:46:49Remember what I said, brother.
00:46:50You're making a long way to the ring.
00:46:52Listen, brother.
00:46:53You gotta go to your left and stop catching the shots.
00:46:56You're trying to slip at the counter, I don't want that.
00:46:59I want you to earn it.
00:47:00I don't want them to give it to you.
00:47:02Look for your shot.
00:47:03Don't stand there for the counter.
00:47:04Because then you're sacrificing yourself.
00:47:06Alright?
00:47:07Lift it up.
00:47:09Right hand.
00:47:10Behind the jab, man.
00:47:12You know what I throw him off the legs.
00:47:14We going for it.
00:47:15We going for it.
00:47:16I need another round.
00:47:17The punches for Danny Garcia strayed a little bit low.
00:47:21There's the right hand.
00:47:23It was on the belt line.
00:47:24It might have been a touch low.
00:47:25But I think Steve Smoger decided not to give him a warning.
00:47:28Because that's the first time it's happened.
00:47:30And Steve wasn't in the perfect position to see that one.
00:47:34We are set for the 8th round.
00:47:36Danny Garcia, WBA and WBC super lightweight champion
00:47:40in the black, white and green.
00:47:42Sam Judah, former 140 pound champion,
00:47:45former unified welterweight champion
00:47:47in the black and white.
00:47:49And you know, some subtle changes in the last round.
00:47:52For the first time, Judah landed more punches than Garcia.
00:47:5519 to 12 according to show stats.
00:47:57And for the first, the lowest number of punches thrown by Garcia.
00:48:01The lowest number of punches thrown by Garcia
00:48:03was 49 in that last round.
00:48:05So, we'll see if that subtle change can push this fight
00:48:09a little more in Sam Judah's direction.
00:48:15And there are the numbers that demonstrate
00:48:17what I was talking about.
00:48:18And the 40% landed by Sam Judah.
00:48:20Very impressive.
00:48:21That's a good percentage.
00:48:22Garcia has been able to execute two good right hands
00:48:26to the body.
00:48:27Not circling away, but into the area of that left hook.
00:48:32The lethal left hook of Danny Garcia.
00:48:34We saw stop Amir Khan and Aaron Morales.
00:48:39Would you have ever expected after the 6th round
00:48:43that the 7th would have been a good round for Sam Judah?
00:48:47He's having a pretty good round here in round 8.
00:48:50He was in all kinds of trouble for a couple of rounds.
00:48:53He says he's cleaned up his lifestyle.
00:48:56He's now a family man and his family in attendance.
00:48:59His wife Christina, his kids Destiny, Zabria, Little Zab
00:49:02are in attendance.
00:49:03Oscar De La Hoya tweeting that Brooklyn is keeping Zab up.
00:49:07He's showing a lot of heart.
00:49:09And the Brooklyn faithful enjoying every second
00:49:11of this championship affair.
00:49:13Those body shots by Garcia, man.
00:49:15He's feeling it all.
00:49:16Great exchange and down goes Judah.
00:49:18Straight right hand through the guard.
00:49:214, 5, 6, 7, 8.
00:49:29Judah goes down for the 10th time in his career
00:49:32and a nasty cut has opened up under the left eye
00:49:35of the challenger.
00:49:37I don't know if I was seeing things.
00:49:38I thought I saw Zab run with a good straight right hand
00:49:40right before that.
00:49:41Garcia didn't even blink.
00:49:42He came back with his own power right now and dropped him.
00:49:45Final minute of the 8th round,
00:49:48which has included a knockdown by the champion.
00:49:51And the one saving grace for Judah Al's cut
00:49:54is underneath the eye.
00:49:55Yeah, that at least is something to be happy about.
00:49:59And there's less than a minute left to go in this round
00:50:01so the knockdown came not at the beginning of the round.
00:50:04Left hook connects by Garcia.
00:50:08Under 30 seconds remaining in the 8th.
00:50:11So much for the Judah momentum, however, in this fight.
00:50:15It's been snuffed out by that knockdown.
00:50:17Again, the 10th of his career.
00:50:19He's been stopped three times, but he valiantly fights back.
00:50:22Funny, I don't think he's as hurt as he was when he didn't go down.
00:50:25Yeah, I agree with you.
00:50:26You could have questioned the mental resolve of Zab Judah
00:50:29in the past, but he has shown that in the face of adversity
00:50:32here tonight, he is trying desperately to remain in the game.
00:50:45So good, Zab.
00:50:53The knockdown of Zab Judah would come courtesy of, what else,
00:50:56a right hand.
00:50:57That's been the main punch in this fight that Garcia has used.
00:51:02And he was off balance, yes.
00:51:04Probably not as hurt as you pointed out, Paulie,
00:51:06as he was earlier in the round.
00:51:08And you made the point that's true.
00:51:10Straight left hand landed.
00:51:12And that's also the right hand that cut him, too.
00:51:14So the right hand did land clean.
00:51:19The left hand of Zab Judah that Paulie and I talked about
00:51:22landing first before the right hand gets in front by Garcia.
00:51:27And that's what I mean about Danny's mental fortitude and strength.
00:51:31He commits to the punch.
00:51:33He commits to the game plan, even in the face of danger.
00:51:35That straight left hand was booming from Zab.
00:51:37But Garcia was in position to counter with the right.
00:51:40He didn't care that he got hit.
00:51:41He's almost programmed like a robot to come right back.
00:51:43New York State Athletic Commission, Dr. Victor Cabe inspecting
00:51:47Judah's cut in between rounds, allowing him to continue.
00:51:50Garcia comes out like a house of fire,
00:51:53attacking and looking to exploit that cut.
00:51:55But Judah lands a straight left hand.
00:51:58This is a very intriguing fight.
00:52:00It is a one-sided fight, but one that still has drama involved in it.
00:52:04And partially because of Zab Judah's resolve
00:52:07and his occasional successes.
00:52:10Paulie, you fought here in your hometown of Brooklyn.
00:52:13What does it mean to have that crowd behind you?
00:52:15Is it something that we in the media make a bigger deal of?
00:52:18Oscar De La Hoya tweeted it out.
00:52:20Are you cognizant of what's happening with the crowd when you're in there?
00:52:23Absolutely.
00:52:24It gives you a little bit more sense of pride.
00:52:26In a way, Oscar's right.
00:52:27It keeps you up.
00:52:28You want to get through the adversity.
00:52:30It gives you a little bit more to dig deep for
00:52:32because you want to get through the adversity for your crowd,
00:52:34for your people.
00:52:35You don't always get a chance to fight in front of them.
00:52:37So the opportunity you get like this,
00:52:39you want to perform as best you can.
00:52:41You want to pull all the stops.
00:52:42You want to dig deep when you have to.
00:52:44Danny Garcia is 2-0 in 12 round fights.
00:52:48Zab Judah is 5-3 as we head into these final championship rounds.
00:52:52And Garcia landing a pair of stiff right hands.
00:52:55One to the ribcage, the other to the side of the head.
00:53:00Measuring up the challenger, Judah along the ropes.
00:53:03Garcia flashes the right hand, Judah quick to clinch.
00:53:09I love how Garcia's staying with the game plan.
00:53:11He's not getting excited.
00:53:12He's still mixing those right hands,
00:53:14doubles them up, loops them and straightens them out
00:53:16depending on the situation.
00:53:17Still varying.
00:53:18Although Judah keeps himself alive here with these straight up hands here.
00:53:21Showing a lot of maturity as the 25-year-old champion.
00:53:24Showing a lot of guts.
00:53:26And Guile is the 35-year-old challenger.
00:53:28Judah flashes a jab, counter right hand connects by Garcia.
00:53:33Zab Judah is mentally engaged in this fight.
00:53:36We saw him not mentally engaged toward the end when he was fighting Amir Khan.
00:53:41He is tonight and so that's why he's still a problem for Danny Garcia.
00:53:45Under a minute remaining in the 9th round.
00:53:49Judah's right hand down along the waistline.
00:53:54Clenches again.
00:53:56Garcia blocks him down.
00:53:58Launches the jab.
00:54:01Right hand to the body by the champion.
00:54:05The problem for Judah is that nothing big that he has landed.
00:54:08There have been some several really good straight left hands
00:54:11has appeared to hurt Garcia or even stop him.
00:54:15Danny's got a great chin, an underrated chin.
00:54:17Yes, agreed.
00:54:20Probably a lot of things about Danny Garcia that are underrated.
00:54:23People should stop.
00:54:24Eventually you got to understand this kid is a great fighter.
00:54:27Coming into his own tonight again after that breakout year in 2012.
00:54:31Two victories over the Mexican legend Eric Morales.
00:54:33The stunning upset of Amir Khan.
00:54:36And now putting the titles on the line against Zab Judah.
00:54:39What has been a terrific tilt.
00:54:41Give Zab credit, man.
00:54:42He's showing a lot of heart and he's not going out without a fight.
00:54:45What are you going to do now?
00:54:46You got to get this done, man.
00:54:47You got to get this done.
00:54:48All right, suck it up.
00:54:50Yo, breathe, breathe.
00:54:51Breathe, breathe.
00:54:53He's walking, all right?
00:54:56He's walking, bro.
00:54:58Breathe, breathe.
00:55:00All right, yo, stay behind him, Zab.
00:55:02Give him that one-two.
00:55:03And yo, keep digging in his body.
00:55:05Yo, we can't let it go now.
00:55:08Keep your hands up, okay?
00:55:10Don't sacrifice too much.
00:55:11Just keep going to your left, working.
00:55:13Earn your shot.
00:55:14Don't sacrifice yourself.
00:55:26All right.
00:55:42Garcia launches a right bar.
00:55:50Zab Judah is likely in a situation where he can't win a decision.
00:55:54I think we can safely say that.
00:55:57But he is landing some powerful punches.
00:56:00Beautiful combination by Judah.
00:56:02Double pumped the jab that landed the straight left.
00:56:05He's got to stay consistent with that, but he's also got to stay alert
00:56:08because you saw once again, Danny missed it, but he came right back with a right hand.
00:56:13Garcia's never been down in his career, so that's a daunting task for Judy
00:56:19to get him down, level him out.
00:56:21And we saw Judah go down a minute 40 into round 8 from an overhand right
00:56:26the 10th time in his career that he's been down.
00:56:29And that's a credit to Danny's chin.
00:56:31He's not gotten down here or even been hurt.
00:56:33You know, a lot of those straight left hands that Zab Judah
00:56:35have knocked down, even knocked down a lot of guys.
00:56:37Yes.
00:56:4229 to be exact.
00:56:45Straight left clips Garcia's jaw by Judah.
00:56:51Come on, baby!
00:57:01Conditioning doesn't really appear to be much of a factor yet
00:57:04as we are here going through the midway point of round 10.
00:57:08Both still remaining in the pocket.
00:57:10Judah launches a Hail Mary left, and he hurt Garcia!
00:57:15Steve Smoker, if he's criticized for anything, it's being too laissez-faire.
00:57:20And right there, he kind of said, go ahead, boys.
00:57:22And the crowd erupting vociferously when Judah landed that left hand.
00:57:28And let me tell you something, guys.
00:57:29Danny's playing it off, but he must be hurt.
00:57:31He's not throwing any punches.
00:57:32He's committing only to defense, pretty much.
00:57:37An amazing atmosphere in the great fight city of Brooklyn, New York.
00:57:43Under a minute remaining in the 10th.
00:57:45And really, Judah enjoying a second win here.
00:57:48You hear the Judah chant.
00:57:49It's the crowd getting behind him.
00:57:50And he gets tagged there by the champion.
00:57:54Evan Flo of the Sweet Science.
00:57:57It's been mainly Danny Garcia, but Judah remains in the pocket.
00:58:04And it looks like he has definitely taken Garcia out of his comfort zone in this round.
00:58:10And a right hook by Judah lands after a straight left hand.
00:58:13He is having his moment here in this round.
00:58:16The best round of the fight for the challenger, Zab Judah.
00:58:22Tags him with the jab.
00:58:24If you're going to do well against Danny Garcia, it all comes from backing him up.
00:58:28And the chants of Judah echo through the confines of the Berkley Center in Brooklyn.
00:58:32We are headed to what should be two sensational championship rounds.
00:58:39And I'll say this, man.
00:58:40Anybody that says Zack fades late, he just showed those people I do not fade late.
00:58:47Boom.
00:58:50If you're ready for a rumble slam in this round, you've got to look the other way, Joe.
00:58:55You're here.
00:58:56You're ready.
00:58:57Wake up.
00:58:58Wake up.
00:59:00It was an important round for Zab Judah.
00:59:03That's the left hand that started the issues for Danny Garcia.
00:59:07As Paulie pointed out, his offense stopped at that point in the round.
00:59:12Yet another look at it.
00:59:14With the point jab as a range finder, Zab Judah lands what we have pointed out,
00:59:19a punch that has knocked many a junior welterweight down and out.
00:59:23And later on in the round, this would be, I believe, the right hook.
00:59:28Yes.
00:59:29Zab Judah throwing a rare right hook.
00:59:31He doesn't throw that punch much, but it was powerful.
00:59:33Yeah, he's kind of surprised him.
00:59:35Danny thought he had a good hold of him, but Zab got his right hand free to hook off.
00:59:39The crowd on its feet as we head into the championship rounds for the WBA
00:59:44and WBC super lightweight titles.
00:59:47Danny Garcia the champion, and while it may be one-sided on the scorecards,
00:59:51the fans here are certainly getting their money's worth.
00:59:55Zab Judah changed the tenor of this fight in the last round,
00:59:58landing 10 power punches to only 5 for Garcia, and his 10 were very powerful.
01:00:04And there is plenty of pep in Judah's step here in round 11.
01:00:08Moving laterally, Garcia comes forward with the right hand,
01:00:11misses with the jab, the straight right though connects on the jaw.
01:00:17Garcia comes in again, feints with the right, then lands the right hand to the head.
01:00:22Counter left by the champion.
01:00:33And now Garcia beginning to once again find his rhythm.
01:00:42I like what Garcia's doing. Instead of panicking, he's going back to what he was doing in the early rounds.
01:00:46Staying calm and mixing those right hands. He keeps that busy on defense.
01:00:49And he's parrying Judah's jab.
01:00:51Gotta be a little careful though. He's pushing his rights to the body a little bit,
01:00:55and Judah may come with a left over him.
01:00:57Does a good job of avoiding that left hand as the champion sidestepped the oncoming Judah.
01:01:04As we near the midpoint of the penultimate round, round 11.
01:01:08Garcia digging away at the body, Judah avoids the left, sticks the jab.
01:01:14Judah though has not been that offensive-minded in this round.
01:01:16He must know that he's behind on the scorecards in a way that would make it seem impossible to make a decision.
01:01:23Thank goodness we're in New York and not Texas where he would know.
01:01:27He needs to leave. Well, that was the WBC rule, yeah.
01:01:30He certainly needs something dramatic in these last two rounds.
01:01:34Left hand downstairs, right hand to the head by Garcia. Final minute of the 11th.
01:01:42Left hook connects by Judah.
01:01:44Just like you said, Al, lazy right hand downstairs, Judah counted it.
01:01:52Time!
01:01:54Neutral, neutral.
01:01:55Time, time!
01:01:57Zabaziel, Zabaziel!
01:01:59Come on, come on!
01:02:01His shoe!
01:02:02Tie his lace! Tie his lace!
01:02:09Stoppage of Zab's right shoe. His shoelace is untied.
01:02:12Unscheduled respite here in round 11 with 40 seconds left.
01:02:28Powerful straight left by Judah.
01:02:31Connects with the right hand and the crowd reacting to every single strike from Brooklyn Zab as Super Judah.
01:02:39But instead of fading, it's gaining confidence here again in the 11th round.
01:02:45And again the right hook emerges, a rare weapon but a good one for Judah.
01:02:49And a good body shot by Judah there too.
01:02:51Blood now trickling down there from the hairline of the champion.
01:02:54Puts together a blistering three-punch combination of flurry of punches here as we go to the 12th and final round of this terrific championship bout.
01:03:08Former two-time world champion Andre Berto is on his feet.
01:03:12And how would you not be after seeing the action we have witnessed here tonight?
01:03:25They're tending to the cut, which could have been the result of a headbutt.
01:03:30We have not been able to confirm that at this time.
01:03:34The location would lead to tell you it was either a headbutt or an elbow.
01:03:39It was right on top of the scalp, usually don't get cut with a punch.
01:03:45In the last round, Judah landed that left hand.
01:03:50Garcia tried to counter with the left hook, but that was what turned the action in that round and then later on in the round.
01:03:57As Garcia was gone, both the right hook and the left hand landed for Zab Judah.
01:04:03Show a little more diversification as we head into the final round.
01:04:06The bell, the 12th and final round for the WBA and WBC 140 pound championship.
01:04:12Referee Steve Smolder has confirmed that the cut in Garcia's scalp was the result of an accidental headbutt.
01:04:28Again, a counter left hand from a lazy right hand to the body from Garcia.
01:04:32For the first time, Garcia, Judah tried a counter left uppercut.
01:04:36We haven't seen it for 11 rounds, he finally tried it, it didn't work.
01:04:39And again they clash, the southpaw and the conventional fighter.
01:04:45We've seen this happen before, so...
01:04:50The cut over Judah's eye from an accidental clash of hands and the cut on Garcia's hairline as Judah lands a straight right to the body.
01:05:01They are bloodied, they are battered, but they're still standing here in the 12th and final round.
01:05:06That clash of hands, a bad break for Zab Judah, it affected him a little more and he's the one that needs to make something happen in this round.
01:05:12So that cost him precious seconds and a little momentum.
01:05:16And he's trying to make things happen with a one-two combination.
01:05:19A minute 45 left in the fight.
01:05:21Straight right hand down the middle by the chest.
01:05:23There's another cut on Garcia's forehead and it is just leaking down his face.
01:05:27Probably from that clash of hands.
01:05:31Judah double bumps the jab and clinches again with Danny Garcia wearing the vestiges of what has been an epic confrontation here at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
01:05:42Left hand off the ropes by Judah.
01:05:46Zab Judah has put together a rally toward the end of this fight, and I thought he won rounds 10 and 11.
01:05:52Even if he takes this round though, you have to think it might not be enough for him to win this decision.
01:05:58No, it's not, he needs a knockout.
01:06:00He went down in round 8 the 10th time in his career, but since then has rallied.
01:06:07Right hand connects by Garcia, less than a minute left in the bout.
01:06:13I like how both guys are going at it this round, they're not playing it safe at all.
01:06:17They're imposing their will and their skill on each other.
01:06:21Neither man willing to give an inch, and there's a front facelock by Judah.
01:06:25I understand trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu might have been going for the guillotine choke.
01:06:30And look at this action here in the last 30 seconds of the bout.
01:06:34Judah landed a very good straight left hand a moment ago.
01:06:38You'll have to see this earlier from Zab Judah.
01:06:41He's taking more chances, and his speed and combination punching while he's away in punches, even if he's getting it back.
01:06:46Judah, the offensive catalyst here with 13 seconds left.
01:06:51Again they clinch, final 10 seconds of what has been a scintillating bout for the WBC and WBA 140 pound championships.
01:07:02They are throwing leather until the final bell, and look at that sign of sportsmanship.
01:07:07Squashed the beef after what was a memorable championship clash.
01:07:21For anybody that wants to talk about Zab Judah fading late, he gave it his all to try to pull out this win late.
01:07:31It's ironic that usually that's an issue for him tonight, not so.
01:07:36Even if he was bleeding and batting, he came hard, he came strong in those late rounds.
01:07:43You can't scare us like that. You've got to do it if that's up with you.
01:07:48Just pull it out.
01:07:50Well, we see all the blood from these two fighters, and here's part of the reason why.
01:07:54They banged heads in that last round, and both men suffered from it.
01:07:59That was tough, and Judah originally looked like he got the worst of it, and you could see the pain.
01:08:05But it also created that cut on the forehead of Danny Garcia.
01:08:10And of course, in the middle of this, there were also a few punches landed, like those from Zab Judah,
01:08:15who also had a very good 12th round and, in my mind, swept the last three rounds.
01:08:20But it wasn't that Garcia didn't have his moments.
01:08:22He did, toward the end of the round especially.
01:08:25That right hand was one of them, and the blood already bothering Judah there.
01:08:32The reaction by the families as they watch, and it is tough to watch sometimes,
01:08:39and exciting to watch at the same time, as you watch your loved ones trying to get the job done in the 12th round.
01:08:45Yeah, that was team and family Garcia there.
01:08:48And quickly, they forget all of the animosity, all of the drama leading up to this championship bout.
01:08:54Forget about the trash talking.
01:08:56They delivered a classic championship bout here tonight.
01:08:59A terrific fight.
01:09:01And the security line is back in there, although, I don't know if they need it now.
01:09:05Yeah, that's exaggerated, guys.
01:09:07I mean, come on.
01:09:08The fight's over.
01:09:10We look at the show stats, and we see that Judah narrowed the margin a bit with those last three rounds
01:09:17when he started to land good punches, but still came up about 58 punches shy, according to show stats.
01:09:25And of course, how those punches are divided among the rounds is important,
01:09:29but clearly, Danny Garcia throwing more and ultimately landing more.
01:09:34We are set for the official decision.
01:09:38Let's make it official with Jimmy Lennon Jr.
01:09:44Ladies and gentlemen, after 12 rounds of action, we have a unanimous decision.
01:09:49Here are the score totals.
01:09:51Judge at ringside, Tom Schreck scores the bout 115-112.
01:09:58Judge Anik Hongthongkham scores the bout 114-112.
01:10:05At judge at ringside, Adelaide Byrd sees it 116-111.
01:10:10All three in favor of the winner.
01:10:14And still undefeated world champion, Danny Garcia.
01:10:26Danny Garcia improves to 26-0.
01:10:29No need for Zab, but Judah to hang his head as he was in the fight for all 12 rounds.
01:10:36Not a great start.
01:10:37He was knocked down in the 8th and then rallied.
01:10:47Let's get up to Jim Gray, who's standing by with the champ.
01:10:54Mauro, thank you very much.
01:10:56Danny, congratulations to you.
01:11:00How would you describe this fight?
01:11:04It was a hell of a fight, man.
01:11:05I came to Brooklyn.
01:11:06I had to beat the Brooklyn guy in his hometown.
01:11:09I knew he had a lot of pride behind him.
01:11:11I knew he was never going to give up.
01:11:13And I had to beat the hometown guy in his hometown.
01:11:16But, you know, first of all, sorry, I forgot.
01:11:19I want to thank God.
01:11:20I want to thank Al Heyman, my dad, and Golden Boy and Showtime for this opportunity.
01:11:25You were able to dominate with the power punches.
01:11:27And then you knocked him down in the 8th round.
01:11:29But rounds 10, 11, and 12, Zab Judah came back and he stunned you.
01:11:34He alarmed you.
01:11:35And he won those rounds.
01:11:36Yeah.
01:11:37What changed?
01:11:39He's a crafty veteran with power.
01:11:41We knew that.
01:11:42He hit me with a good shot.
01:11:43I think I'm on the 11th.
01:11:45He hit me with a left hand.
01:11:46He spun me around.
01:11:47I wasn't looking.
01:11:48He hit me with an uppercut.
01:11:49And that kind of took my, you know, shook me up a little bit.
01:11:52But I'm a true champion.
01:11:53And I've got to fight through a storm in order to be a champion.
01:11:57And I proved that tonight.
01:11:58Now you've beaten Khan.
01:11:59You've beaten Morales.
01:12:01You now beat Judah.
01:12:02Was Judah the best fighter you have faced?
01:12:04Yeah, Judah, no doubt.
01:12:06Judah is the most craftiest and the strongest guy I've fought so far.
01:12:10Let's take a look at that knockdown if you can.
01:12:12Have you look right here at the monitor, Danny, in the 8th round.
01:12:15He hit you with a good left.
01:12:17And then you came back right away with a right.
01:12:19Tell us what happened.
01:12:21He threw a left and I just countered right back.
01:12:26Right on the face.
01:12:27Did you feel as though you'd be able to follow up and put him away?
01:12:29Or was it just a flash shot?
01:12:31I knew he throws a lot of power with the left.
01:12:34So I was trying to stay in my ground and fire right back and land it.
01:12:38Danny, you were very effective tonight without using your jab much.
01:12:43Is that something you're going to have to start to use a little bit more?
01:12:46Oh, man, I give respect to Zab.
01:12:48He took the jab away.
01:12:49You know, my game plan was to come in here and use the jab.
01:12:51But he was stepping around.
01:12:53He was crafty.
01:12:54He took my jab away.
01:12:55So I had to use what I had and squeeze it out.
01:12:59There was such bad blood between you two before this fight,
01:13:03particularly a lot of trash talking.
01:13:05It spilled over.
01:13:06Your dad was involved.
01:13:07Is that gone now?
01:13:08Oh, yeah.
01:13:09To me, it's gone.
01:13:10It's a respect.
01:13:11As you can see, there's a lot of bad blood.
01:13:13I got cuts.
01:13:14He got cuts.
01:13:15We came here.
01:13:16We gave the people in Brooklyn a great show.
01:13:18I want to thank you guys for coming out, Philadelphia, Brooklyn.
01:13:22Congratulations.
01:13:23Let's turn around to Zab Judah.
01:13:25That was an outstanding effort tonight by you, Zab.
01:13:29When you look back on this fight,
01:13:30are you going to wonder why you couldn't be so effective earlier
01:13:35and why you were so effective in rounds 10, 11, and 12?
01:13:38You know, first of all, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
01:13:41for just allowing both fighters to come out of this fight safe.
01:13:44And, you know, it was a pretty bad cut.
01:13:46Ooh, ugly.
01:13:47But, you know, just allowing both to come out of this ring safely.
01:13:51And, you know, I mean, it's boxing.
01:13:52Things happen.
01:13:53You win some, you lose some.
01:13:54Your best punch of the fight came in the eighth round.
01:13:57You really stung him with a left, and then he turned that right around
01:14:00and wasn't really damaged at all by it and hit you with that right.
01:14:04What happened?
01:14:05Like I said, I don't know what happened because I haven't seen the replay yet,
01:14:07but Danny Garcia is a young tough fighter.
01:14:09You know what I'm saying?
01:14:10You know, I was on my A game tonight, and I worked hard.
01:14:13I had a great training camp.
01:14:14I want to thank my team, my Uncle Jimmy, Darryl, Moe, Bill Hockey.
01:14:18I mean, we did a great training camp, and we gave it our big shot.
01:14:22Where would you say Garcia ranks?
01:14:24You fought against Mayweather.
01:14:25You fought against Cota.
01:14:26Where do you rank, Danny?
01:14:27I don't know yet.
01:14:28You know what I'm saying?
01:14:29The fight just got over.
01:14:30Let it settle in a little bit more, and I'll get the answer later on.
01:14:33Was this the last hurrah, or will we see you fight again?
01:14:35Oh, no, you're going to see me fight again.
01:14:36I mean, why would I quit?
01:14:37I mean, Brooklyn, y'all want me not to come back no more or come back?
01:14:41There you go.
01:14:42Brooklyn settled itself.
01:14:43Tremendous performance.
01:14:44We enjoyed it.
01:14:45Thanks so much.
01:14:46Thank you very much.
01:14:47All right, Mauro, back to you.
01:14:48All right, Jim, thank you very much.
01:14:50Let's take a look at the official scoring here in New York.
01:14:55The official scoring had it fairly close in this fight because of the rally.
01:14:59Adelaide Byrd with the widest margin.
01:15:02And Hong Tong Kham with a slightly smaller margin for him.
01:15:07And, of course, Tom Shrek, 115-112.
01:15:09All had Zab Judah having a very good second portion of the fight.
01:15:15And for our unofficial scoring, Steve Farhoud night at 160-111.
01:15:20You had a bigger margin.
01:15:21Did you not give Judah as much credit for those later rounds?
01:15:25The rounds I gave Judah were in the late rounds.
01:15:27I just felt some of the rounds I couldn't give to Judah based on him controlling 30 seconds of it.
01:15:32There was portions of the rounds where he had explosive shots and he landed explosive punches.
01:15:35But I felt like Danny was still doing the better work overall for a bigger portion of the round.
01:15:41So I couldn't quite get myself to give it to Judah.
01:15:43But I realized they were close.
01:15:45Al, I just want to add that after he was knocked down to round 8,
01:15:48Judah did come back and won rounds 10, 11, and 12 on all three official judges' scorecards here tonight.
01:15:54Yeah, they gave him the rounds down the stretch as I did and apparently Steve Farhoud did as well.
01:16:00Danny Garcia was in a very tough test as Zab Judah gave it all he could.
01:16:05As we now go back to Brian Kenney.
01:16:11Guys, thank you so much.
01:16:12And let's recap our night of boxing here in Brooklyn.
01:16:14In our opening bout, it was Peter Quillen.
01:16:17Once again, Kid Chocolate brings down the house against Fernando Guerrero.
01:16:21Knocked him down twice in round 2, had Guerrero all but out.
01:16:24Guerrero stormed back by round 6, but two more knockdowns and it's a TKO in the 7th round.
01:16:30Kid Chocolate, Peter Quillen, wins again.
01:16:32In our main event, Danny Garcia piling up the points early, calmly taking apart Zab Judah.
01:16:38But the 35-year-old former champ would not go quietly.
01:16:41The decision, I believe the judges had it just about perfect.
01:16:45It was Danny Garcia who wins here tonight and defends the Junior Welterweight Championship of the World
01:16:51and good sportsmanship there at the end from the two fighters.
01:16:54After all that they've been through over the last few weeks.
01:16:57Hope you enjoyed it, everybody, here in Brooklyn.
01:16:59For Al Bernstein, Mauro Ranallo, Paulie Malignaggi, Steve Farhoud, Jim Gray, and our entire Showtime Sports crew,
01:17:05I'm Brian Kenney. Good night from Brooklyn, everybody.
