00:00I'm sorry, you haven't heard of it yet.
00:07I'm sorry.
00:22We are very sorry to see the devastating situation
00:51in Guwahati yesterday, where my campus was inundated in flood.
00:58Not only my campus, under Guwahati city, our Maligao, Sanmari, Nobin Nagar, then Rukmini
01:06Gow, and many areas of Guwahati city, totally it was submerged under this flood.
01:12And our minister, Guwahati development minister, Joanne Tamala visited Rukmini Gow, and he said
01:19it is because of the flash flood which is flowing from Meghalo hills.
01:24And once upon a time, Ashok Singhal, he said the colors of the water, flash flood, it signifies
01:32that it is coming from Meghalo, but it is not because of that.
01:35They are constructing so many flyovers in Guwahati, which is not at all necessary.
01:41But main purpose, we have to take up the drainage system.
01:46Scientific drainage system should be installed.
01:49We should go ahead, we should take up schemes so that we can drain out the flood, flash floods
01:55to Brahmaputu.
01:56Brahmaputu is flowing through just nearby Guwahati.
02:00So we can take out this flash flood into Brahmaputu, if we take some scientific approach, then we
02:07can remove this disasterousness.
02:11And when our former chief minister, Honorable chief minister, Dr. Hemantavishra Varma, he
02:16shouted in public meetings that there is no underdevelopment, there is only development, development, development.
02:24But because of those words yesterday, it penetrated into devastating floods.
02:30So he told that in every world, government would spend 10 pros, where is that money?
02:39Where are those money?
02:40Where is the development?
02:41If they would have taken proper steps to drain out of this flood, then the people of Lukmenigam
02:48would have not suffered.
02:50Yesterday, I saw it in the TV channel, even their bedrooms, it was submerged.
02:56Small children, they don't have any food yesterday to take.
03:00It is so pathetic.
03:02So I appealed the government, they should take proper schemes.
03:05Instead of these beneficiary schemes, they should take recovery schemes so that the people
03:11of Guwahati, they don't suffer in closer.
03:14See a lot of things we have done in last four years.
03:18Earlier, our department spent only 200 to 300 pros per year to mitigate to control flood.
03:26But under the guidance of Hemantavishra Sarma Ranguriya, we are spending around 2000 pros per
03:33year so that we can mitigate flood.
03:36Flood in Hemaji, Flood in Morigaon, Flood in Majuli, Flood in Lokhempur have been mitigated,
03:44I think, 70%.
03:45Flood in Nolbari, Flood in Borag Valley, I think all over Assam have able to mitigate 70% flood.
03:54But next 30% also we need to mitigate, for that we are working, we will work.
