00:00So I saw your story about what the pirates did with the bricks.
00:07And you know what?
00:08I got to tell you, like, you smile and laugh, I'm sure, at them
00:12because it's so unbelievable.
00:15Like, I'm angry.
00:16I have to tell you, and I'm going to have Dave Sharabon on later
00:20talking about the pirates this afternoon
00:24because he's a huge pirate fan like I am.
00:27And, you know, I've been watching them, and they're awful.
00:32I mean, they are literally, you can talk all you want about the Orioles
00:37and Rockies.
00:37The pirates are as bad as they are.
00:39I mean, it's every day.
00:40The Rockies are setting pretty high standards of bad there, Scott.
00:43When is the last time the pirates scored 14 runs in a game?
00:47Name that for me, and then we'll start talking.
00:49The Rockies had 20 hits the other day.
00:51The pirates haven't had 20 hits the whole season.
00:54Here's the thing about that whole brick fiasco.
00:59For those who aren't aware, when the pirates opened PNC Park in advance
01:05of that, they offered people the opportunity, fans, et cetera,
01:09to buy commemorative bricks that would be installed in the area outside
01:13the ballpark.
01:15And they did.
01:16And lots of people signed up.
01:17There were lots of bricks.
01:18And at some point subsequent to the 2024 season, they decided, they were told,
01:25whatever, that the bricks needed to be replaced because they had worn down,
01:32the sidewalk was maybe a hazard.
01:35And so they decided to basically pave over it in so many words.
01:39And instead of deciding to recreate the bricks or reuse the ones they had,
01:46they decided to just dig them all up and dump them and then pave it over with concrete.
01:52And Scott, here's the thing.
01:53It's a really hard, it's really hard for teams like the Orioles, Reds, Royals,
01:59Pirates, et cetera, to get the baseball right in today's economic system in Major League Baseball.
02:06It's really hard to get the baseball right.
02:07So when you can't get the baseball right, you have to get everything else right.
02:12You can't get anything else wrong.
02:14You have to get it all, the rest of it right.
02:17And they opened the ballpark and they get a lot right just by turning on the lights
02:21because PNC Park is a fabulous ballpark.
02:24It's as good as there is in the Major Leagues.
02:27I would say the best, maybe that's because I live here, but it's a phenomenal place.
02:32But there's still more to do than just turning on the lights.
02:35And this one, I just have a hard time, Scott, understanding how a group of people got together
02:42in a room and decided this or one person decided this, how you could be in a business like Major League Baseball.
02:51Look, I can go get my Teddy Grahams and chocolate milk at any store that's close to me and offers me the best price.
02:58It's not about loyalty to this particular outlet.
03:02But when you're selling Major League Baseball, you're selling a romance, a feeling, a passion.
03:07And they just dug it up and dumped it in a dumpster.
03:09And I don't know how you can come to that conclusion in the profession that those people are in.
03:14So, they also screwed up with the Clemente signage.
03:20And then they had to reverse course on that because they embarrassed themselves so horrifically there.
03:27I mean, like, it's one thing after the next.
