00:00so let's get started here on the program and got some sports betting news to open up with you here
00:04on the show this was the story that really captured the world about six months ago with
00:08shohei otani and of course his former interpreter remember him ipe who uh ended up basically taking
00:14otani's money and betting on sports and using it for all kinds of sports wagering uh things and he
00:20was accused and basically said i did it and ended up going to jail but the bottom line is that
00:25they're still investigating that situation and right now the lead investigator who was on that
00:30case has decided that he's going to retire so what does that mean for this case it may be completely
00:35done this is of course the assistant u.s attorney jeff mitchell who was at the center of the otani
00:42investigation with him and his former interpreter and now he's decided that as of may 16th he's no
00:47longer going to be on this case or any other he's stepping away also you may remember there's a couple
00:52of other cases that involve sports betting that he was spearheaded and that was with david fletcher
00:56former angels infielder and also yasel pui former outfielder with the dodgers and of course with
01:00cleveland as well as of right now someone else will have to pick up the case but needless to say it's
01:05probably good news for those people who have been accused with the lead investigator deciding to step
01:09down also those of you who live in the state of oregon good news for you as well in case you wanted
01:14to bet on sports yesterday caesar sports opened its first ever sports betting outfit through a
01:20partnership with the coquille indian tribe this is going on in oregon right now and the ceremonial
01:25first bet was placed on self-service wagering kiosks inside the casino so those of you who live in the
01:31pacific northwest and want to bet you got your opportunity to bet on sports there they are open
01:36and ready for business is caesars also open and ready for business hey the arizona diamondbacks are
01:40on a roll trying to chase down the padres the dodgers and the giants in the national league west
01:44brandon fought has been fantastic for them after signing a contract extension this offseason he wins his
01:49seventh game and the diamondbacks beat the dodgers nine to five folks that means the dodgers have
01:53lost four games in a row at home which is where they like never lose for the first time since may
02:00of 2018 you don't have to do the math there that's a long time ago here's mookie bets on the struggles of
02:05the club uh i mean yes it has um we haven't given up i mean but you're gonna go through uh certain
02:11situations like this um you know it's uh it's just tough you got to find a way to get back healthy
02:18um get our guys back out there um but you know we're battling what we got
02:23hear you offensively just to get those two home runs when you're showing power like that is that
02:28at least an encouraging sign for you and where you want to be to help support this team
02:32um sure um didn't really matter because we lost but uh you know i had a good game
02:38we'll uh we'll see i've had a couple of games and then kind of went missing so i have to uh keep it
02:44going have you still been working through like the same habits you've had early in the year kind
02:50of what what's been the focus of your work lately uh man i don't know it's kind of been all over the
02:56place just trying to figure things out um uh find all the cue that uh that worked today so
03:02we'll see tomorrow i mean it's just a constant battle i mean you don't feel good every day you
03:07know there's a lot of variables that kind of go into it so we'll see tomorrow tigers having a great
03:14season met their match yesterday it was sunny gray and the cardinals beating the tigers 11 to 4
03:20yesterday he struck out 10 and threw six scoreless innings in the cardinals one of the
03:25surprises of the season in baseball in fact they've won 13 of their last 15 games while
03:32outscoring their opponents 85 to 36 it's jordan walker he had a nice game for the cardinals last
03:37night also chris bubik helped the royals beat the giants by a final of three to one nice pitching
03:42match up there needless to say the giants have been a little bit or hit or miss this season in terms
03:48of offense some games going you know wild and some games not scoring bob melvin talked about
03:53dropping the game and not getting on the board very often bob you mentioned a little bit about
03:58bubich before the game and what makes him so tough what was he doing in particular tonight that was
04:03giving you guys everything when he pitches in he pitches out pitches up he pitches down
04:07had a couple different break balls working through his change up both sides of the plate
04:11it was really good that's we've seen some good pitchers this year that's that was right up there
04:17you've made a couple small tweaks your lineup against lefties what more might you think about
04:25doing to get these guys going in those games we've been a little better i mean we've won a couple games
04:30against lefties i think regardless it was going to be tough with against him today the story that is
04:38probably making the most waves in baseball today has nothing to do with the outcome of the game it is
04:43juan soto of the new york mets in case you missed it yesterday first of all we'll get to the final
04:47the red sox beat the mets three to one and jaron duran had a double and a triple but juan soto was
04:54the story because soto playing against the green monster of course in boston ended up hitting one
05:00off the monster and soto i guess thought it was out and instead of just hauling down the line trying
05:07to get a double out of it soto sort of well let's just say didn't run his hardest toward first base
05:12and so naturally he's under fire today manager of the mets carlos mendoza says they'll have a
05:17conversation and he talked about what happened last night soto didn't bust it out of the box on that
05:23ball off the wall last night he had a play where he was still getting out do you have to talk to him
05:28about any any of that yeah i mean we'll we'll talk to him about it um tonight obviously someone gets a
05:36hole one is and knows when he got when he gets it he's won you know and uh he thought he had it
05:43you know but with the wind and all that and in this ballpark or you know anywhere anywhere but in
05:48particular in this one with that that wall right there you got to get out of the box so um yeah
05:53we'll we'll discuss that last couple of nights you've had a couple of plays where you were slow
05:58getting out of the box is that something you have to be more aware of
06:01no i think uh being hustling me very hard if you see it today you can tell i mean it's part of the
06:09game it's not always gonna be uh great you know we're gonna have up and downs uh we just gotta keep
06:15our chain up and keep moving forward you know um it's it's a game of failure sometimes you're gonna
06:21fail and you just gotta keep moving forward it doesn't matter what with the mets loss of the
06:26phillies win they move into first place the story last night in the win over the rockies everybody
06:31beats the rockies nine to three as the phillies end up winning kyle schwarber by the way hit his
06:36300th career home run in the game and he talked about the at bat afterward there's something told
06:43me in my mind like you know we might it might be a three two slider right here and um let's just
06:49say i'm putting this way on it right so he might have just kept me back just a little bit longer and
06:52got the barrel to it what does it mean you get to 300 yeah i mean well excuse me uh it's a really
06:59cool thing right that um you know 300 homers it's a lot of them and um you know it's a cool milestone
07:09and i think the biggest thing right is just you know there's there's a lot more to come you know
07:15and i you know i don't think that you know they asked me what the 12 year old kyle thing could be
07:19with it 300 homers i would have said probably not right but uh you know i've always loved the game
07:25and um you know i didn't know what it would hold but um you know it's been really gracious to me and
07:33been around a lot of really good people and a lot of people that have helped me out be the player that
07:39i am right now and uh hopefully a lot more the player that's going to be coming here in the future
07:45could be 400 career home runs coming for kyle schwarber also the marlins came back to beat
07:52the cubs last night eight to seven jesus sanchez hit a leadoff home run and a walk-off triple which
07:58is the first time that's happened in baseball since 1901 that's true let's get to the san francisco
08:0549ers they signed fred warner to a three-year 63 million dollar contract extension nick seriani
08:11also signs an extension with the eagles as they try to ban the tush push we'll find out if that
08:16happens today also joe douglas is returning to the eagles the ex-gm of the jets
