00:00Good morning. My name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspaper. Lovely to
00:07speak again to Bogdan, and I'm also Chairman of the Festival of Chichester, and fabulous
00:12to welcome Bogdan back to the Festival of Chichester, where you've played a number of
00:16times over the years. And this year, you are playing in Boxgrove Friary, Wednesday June
00:22the 18th, 7.30, and it's the start of a new musical partnership, isn't it? You've played
00:29with Misha once before, so tell me about Misha, why you play with him, why it's a pleasure
00:35to perform with him. Sure. Hello, and thank you for having me back.
00:41Lovely to see you.
00:43It's a great opportunity for me, because Misha is a great musician and amazing cellist, so
00:51together, I think we can bring some very, hopefully, new, interesting interpretation
01:00of some music. Some of it heard more often, and some of them probably unheard or very rarely
01:10heard, such as Gliere, music by Gliere, or perhaps we will play maybe some Sebastian Lee,
01:20very little known composer, but very, very nice music. And we'll be going through Baroque
01:28and classical romantic eras. So it will be a little bit for everyone in this concert.
01:36It sounds fantastic. And you've just played your first concert with Misha, and you were
01:42saying two things. He's a very, very good cellist, but he's also a very, very good musician.
01:49What's that distinction then? You were making that distinction.
01:53Well, yes. A good cellist, it's technically, technically a lot of people can be good.
02:01Musicianship is understanding what you are playing and how you are playing in terms of phrasing,
02:13approaching the character of music, and deciding what to do with the piece on the whole. So
02:24that's the difference.
02:26And last night, with that first concert, the two of you together, you had both. You had the
02:30great cellist, you had the great musician as well.
02:34Yes, yes. It was a pleasure. When you play with someone that you know you can communicate
02:41on stage without talking, then very nice things happen.
02:49Fantastic. Well, it's lovely to know that the start of this new partnership between
02:53Bogdan and Misha will be at the Festival of Chichester, Boxgrove Priory, Wednesday, June
02:59the 18th, 7.30pm. Really lovely to speak to you again. Thank you.
03:03That's it. Yes, everybody, please come and enjoy a very nice programme. And thank you so much.
03:09Great to see you. Thank you.
03:11Okay. Bye.
03:12Bye.
03:12Bye.
03:12Bye.
