'Please Don't Be Partisan Hacks': Ted Lieu Scolds House Republicans During National Police Week

During a press briefing outside of the Capitol, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) denounced Republicans' rhetoric surrounding National Police Week.

00:07I want to thank former prosecutor and representative Eric Swalwell for

00:11convening this important press conference. During National Police Week, we're here to

00:16honor the police officers that defended our Capitol on January 6th against criminals who

00:22assaulted the Capitol and assaulted law enforcement officers. We're honored to have

00:28the law enforcement officers, some of them here joining us. And we're also here to

00:31make the very obvious point that January 6th will never be forgotten. And why is

00:37that? Because we have video of what happened. We have audio of what

00:41happened. The January 6th commission did a great job interviewing all the

00:45witnesses who were there. I was honored to serve as an impeachment manager under

00:49the lead of Representative Raskin. And millions of people watch on live TV what

00:53happened on January 6th. So no matter how many people Donald Trump pardons, he can

00:57never erase this stain on his legacy and this stain in history. And in fact, the

01:03people he pardoned, some of them went out to commit additional crimes. This is

01:07yet a second stain on Donald Trump's legacy that would never be erased. And both of

01:12these stains are going to get bigger as history goes on. And we're also calling

01:16our Republicans to please put up this pack mandate by law to honor those who

01:21protected us on January 6th. And my message to Republicans is, look, if you're not

01:26gonna support police officers because the people who attack them happen to be your

01:31supporters, then you really don't support police officers. You're just being

01:34partisan hacks. Please don't be partisan hacks. Put up this plaque to honor the

01:40January 6th law enforcement officers who protected this cap.
