‘They Deserve Our Thanks Everyday’: Eric Sorensen Praises Law Enforcement For National Police Week

00:10This is National Police Week, when we honor the brave men and women who serve and protect us

00:17every day. But it's also a good reminder that they deserve our thanks every day.

00:22We also need to thank the spouses and the children of our law enforcement who deal

00:28with the risk of their loved ones who may not come home. And finally, we remember the family members

00:35who made the ultimate sacrifice for our safety. Serving in the people's house means we support

00:42law enforcement. I'm proud to have served and secured funding for our police training and safety

00:49because from Rockford to the Quad Cities, Peoria to Bloomington Normal, our officers go above and

00:55beyond every day to keep us safe, many days without the support that they need to deal with stress.

01:01That's why I'm so proud of the Invest to Protect Act, my bipartisan legislation that gives small

01:08and mid-sized police departments the funding that they need for training, recruitment, and mental

01:13health resources. So happy National Police Week. My hope is that everyone wearing a badge right now

01:21stays protected, safe, and feels their nation's thanks. I yield back.
