00:00I ask consensus to deliver remarks for one minute to rising semi-remarks.
00:05Without objection, the gentlewoman is recognized for one minute.
00:09Mr. Speaker, I'm a history teacher, so I know that we have to do everything we can
00:14to document what's happening right now, because we are at a very dangerous moment,
00:19and it requires courage from every single one of us.
00:22Here's the truth of it. This national nightmare started with a series of lies.
00:27The first one being that Barack Obama was not born in this country.
00:31Then the second one, the ridiculous, easily disproved claim
00:36that the 2017 inauguration broke records that no one had ever seen before.
00:42Then the lie about the weather map and the Sharpie, and then so many other lies
00:47building up to that one big lie that you all have heard about the 2020 election.
00:52It was an obvious lie, and yet he lost over and over and over in court and continued to lie.
01:00And there was no evidence, but it didn't matter. Why didn't it matter?
01:03Because it wasn't about the evidence. It was actually a test.
01:07It was a test to signal your willingness to be loyal.
01:11If you promise to spread our lies, you can be on the team.
01:14It was actually a qualification for being able to work on that team.
01:19And slowly, like the rot in the foundation of an old farmhouse, it continued.
01:26Time has expired.
01:27The decay set in. The decay set in. And now, I know that bravery is uncomfortable,
01:33but cowardice is much more...
01:34The gentlewoman is no longer recognized. The gentlewoman is no longer recognized.
