During debate on the House floor, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) ripped into the Big Beautiful Bill and House Republicans' effort to advance it.

00:01Thank you, and I thank the chairman.

00:03You know, President Trump had issued some statements throughout this process saying

00:09and urging, insisting, that this bill does not cut Medicaid.

00:14He's also said some things.

00:16You know, he says he doesn't think I'm too much of a smart person.

00:20And I'll tell you one thing.

00:22It doesn't take a smart person to know if you're being lied to.

00:26So, President Trump, you're either being lied to or you are lying to the American people

00:34because this bill represents in the text of this bill the largest and greatest loss of

00:42health care in American history.

00:4517 million Americans will lose their health care on this bill.

00:50Not undocumented people, not quote-unquote the disgusting term illegal, but 17 million

00:57Americans will have their health care cut from this bill.

01:02On this point of tax on tips, as one of the only people in this body who has lived off

01:08of tips, I want to tell you a little bit about the scam of that text, a little bit of the

01:13fine print there.

01:14The cap on that is $25,000, while you're jacking up taxes on people who make less than $50,000

01:25across the United States, while taking away their SNAP, while taking away their Medicaid,

01:32while kicking them off of the ACA and their health care extensions.

01:36So if you're at home and you're living off tips, you do the math.

01:40Is that worth it to you?

01:42Losing all your health care, not able to feed your babies, not being able to put a diaper

01:48on their bottom in exchange for what?

01:50This bill is a deal with the devil.

01:54It explodes our national debt.

01:57It militarizes our entire economy.

02:00And it strips away health care and basic dignity of the American people for what?

02:08to give Elon Musk a tax break and billionaires the greedy taking of our nation.

02:14We cannot stand for it and we will not support it.

02:18You should be ashamed.
