Grenoside residents demonstrate against green belt housing plans at Sheffield Town Hall.
Transcript
00:00My name is Cheryl Hall and I'm a resident of Wheel Lane at Grenerside.
00:04I'm here today because I feel so very, very strongly about the area in which I live, which is a lovely area.
00:11If the Green Belt is actually built on, surrounding Grenerside and Ecclesfield,
00:17the enormity of it, the visibility of it, it's so great, it's going to have a massive physical impact.
00:24They've given very little time for us as locals to actually respond with questions,
00:30in fact they'd like us not to ask as many questions, they'd like not to hear our questions.
00:34So no, I think there are lots of options available and I think they've just dismissed them.
00:39Feeling locally has just taken us by such storm.
00:46We feel that there's something really unjustified at the base of this
00:50and there is a lot that is unknown and that we're not allowed to know,
00:55that they're trying to keep from us.
00:56and we absolutely believe that this could go that way.
01:01Trees issue stemmed from a very unjust start where the public were not invited for comment,
01:11there were no discussions, their rights were taken from them
01:16and in that respect, that's how we feel.
01:20I hope councillors will all reflect on what they're hearing
01:25and I hope that they'll put principle and integrity above political will.
01:30It's available for every meeting there is, both at the council and public meetings within the area.
01:37I will make statements, I will step up, I'll make sure that there's no one within our area
01:41that doesn't understand exactly what the impact of this would be.
