00:00ad just a few more hours before you hand the chain of office over to councillor jimmy brooks how are
00:11you feeling very sad it's been such an honor such a privilege in life to be the mirror escape mess
00:20and it's something that you could you can't imagine how special it is unless you've actually
00:25done it and it has by far been the greatest greatest year of my life that's without a doubt
00:31i've met so many fantastic people i've been you know you meet people and you learn different
00:38stories about people's lives and what they're doing and why they're doing it it's just an
00:42incredible journey now it has been a busy year for you do you know how many events you've attended
00:49i think diary i've kept the diary obviously ones coming up ones that have done just for you know
00:54just for historical purposes so i can look back on it because i mean not that i'll forget any of it
00:59because it's been amazing but i think i read about 100 910 something like that so and do any of them
01:07stand out for you uh it's a kid i always used to watch the carnival and then when you're a kid you
01:14don't really know what you're looking at when you see them there you just know that he's the public
01:19figure and i as a kid i always used to think wow that what that must feel like
01:24so that was definitely one of the highlights of my year you know tens of thousands of people lining
01:30the streets and proudly wearing that chain right at the front of the carnival was just a huge moment
01:36in my life and a v80 as well that's been quite an emotional week for you hasn't it
01:42it's a phenomenal end to my year i mean we did that we did the town council event on uh which was
01:49you know privileged to be a massive part of on thursday and then on saturday uh we um we lit the
01:56beacon thursday night and then on saturday it was just the finale of spending the day on the tower
02:03gardens for the rbl 80th anniversary of the spit fire and just so much going on so many people there
02:10it was you know with the axe the stalls just i mean what they did the rbl and that was an incredible
02:16achievement to pull that off and to be a part of it was just so emotional i was full of emotion on that
02:24day knowing that was it my last event now you are handing the chain of office over to
02:32councillor junior brooks what will your advice to him be
02:39i would give advice as i got it soak up every minute and enjoy it because it takes a lot of time
02:48a lot of commitment but every single minute is worth it without a shadow of it and what next for you
02:55well i've got i'm always at the summit you know i'm we'll look at me and myself and sarah we're both
03:03looking at uh joining another organization in the town as volunteers maybe on the committee we don't
03:09know yet um we're hoping to get a part of that obviously i've got uh i'll continue with me uh
03:15counselling role so you've got a new role as as the new reform counsellor on the county council
03:24are you looking forward to that challenge
03:27uh yeah i'll do it because obviously i mean we've got a very um very tough learning program to go through
03:34lots of courses and stuff like that so but um yeah you've got to get through that first and then
03:39we'll see what we can do for skeg if we can do anything so hopefully we you know we'll be able
03:44to get some you know make that change
