00:00With Everton entering a new era under David Moyes, the upcoming transfer window could
00:08shape more than just the next season.
00:11It might define the club's direction for years to come.
00:15Early rumours suggest targeted pragmatic business and that fits the Moyes blueprint perfectly.
00:21There's an emphasis on balance, adding experience without stifling youth, shoring up key areas
00:28without overspending, Moyes will want players who fit his structure, disciplined, hardworking
00:35and capable of adapting quickly.
00:39After a stabilising campaign, this summer offers a chance to build on solid foundations.
00:46How ambitious can Everton be and will financial limitations restrict key moves?
00:52We spoke to Liverpool World's Will Rooney about the early whispers, Moyes' approach and what
00:59supporters can realistically expect from a vital transfer window.
01:03Will, looking at Everton and in terms of their summer plans, I would mention it's also going
01:09to be a few big changes around the stadium move to be completed as well.
01:14David Moyes' first summer window back at the club.
01:17In terms of Liam Dillap, obviously he's going to be on a lot of Premier League clubs' radars.
01:23He's had a great season at a real struggling side this season and that relegation release
01:28clause as well, which will come into place likely in terms of Ipswich.
01:33Do you feel Everton should go all out for the likes of Liam Dillap?
01:37How do you think they should navigate this summer transfer window?
01:40Because, you know, a striker who can score, you know, double-figure goals is so important.
01:45Obviously, that sort of lacked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the last couple of seasons.
01:50Yeah, well, Everton, that's the thing, Sandy, Will needs a striker.
01:54They're going to have, that's the thing, Sandy, two senior options out of contract,
01:59Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Brode, who is probably going to be going back to Chelsea.
02:04And Calvert-Lewin has had his ups and downs at Everton, has his injury issues now.
02:12And do Everton look and go in a different direction instead?
02:17And the thing with Liam Dillap is say, can Everton, if they do like him, can they persuade him
02:24that Everton are the club?
02:26Does he want to fast-track his career and go to maybe a Chelsea or, you know, a Man United's?
02:32But why do you want to go to Man United at the minute?
02:34And if you go to Everton, you know you're going to be playing a lot of football.
02:41Still only 22. Everton have got a history of developing strikers.
02:45They, you know, like to Romelu Lukaku, who went and scored how many goals for Everton
02:50and got a big move to Man United on the back of that.
02:53And if David Moyes can convince him that he is going to be leading the line, he will improve.
03:01He won't stand in his way in a few years if a massive club comes on.
03:06And Everton are a massive club himself.
03:07You don't know what Everton are going to do in the next couple of seasons.
03:11If they, you know, take an upward trajectory, start challenging for Europe.
03:15That's the aim of David Moyes.
03:16So, you know, the pulling power is there.
03:18Say, Dillap, he's only had one year in the Premier League, scored 12 goals for Ipswich.
03:23But he does look like a sort of centre-forward who David Moyes would like, you know.
03:27And someone who can bully defenders, someone who can give you the focal point,
03:33but someone who can score goals as well.
03:35He's shown that this season.
03:38£30 million, the only issue for Everton is how much of the budget would that take up?
03:44Because, you know, Everton are going to be able to spend money this summer,
03:47but it's not like they've got, you know, a blank cheque book.
03:51They've still got to keep an eye on the PSR situation, etc.
03:54And will Ipswich, if they want one instalment to £30 million,
04:02then it might be difficult for Everton to pay it out of front.
04:05But can they pay it instalments?
04:07I don't know.
04:09Well, if I was Liam Dillap and you were 22,
04:13you've got to make your next move.
04:16You've got to consider it.
04:17Do you want to go to Man Utd and get swallowed up, potentially?
04:22Look at Rasmus Hoyland's strolled there.
04:24Or do you want to go to a team that you know you'll be playing week in, week out
04:27with a manager who really admires you?
04:30So, might need another left-back, midfield.
04:36So, it's whether they can go all out on one player
04:39or they have to manage the budget accordingly.
04:42And then, you've got to manage the budget accordingly.
