00:00I'm back in LA after a super successful fashion week in New York City I thought
00:12New York was amazing it was I feel like we did more press there going to other
00:16shows than we've done for our own show it's crazy they loved you after my
00:25splash at fashion week there's been a lot of buzz around my next steps I'm
00:29getting a lot of phone calls from every Tom Dick and Mary and to sustain the
00:37buzz you want to act fast and keep people talking now I feel like we have a
00:41better chance to take advantage of more opportunities that's why I'm going to
00:44meet with this branding consultant I have a recommendation what does a brand
00:47consultant do think of it as moguls anonymous they identify what you need
00:53and where you want to be with a conscious effort and thought KLS the
00:58enterprise KLS the brand KLS the person fabulosity we keep it moving
01:09hi nice to see you I'm really hoping this brand consultant can help me figure out
01:15the right jumping-off point for all my new ventures I thought you were covered a lot
01:19of passion week oh it was such a crazy thing well it's great to meet you I'm
01:23excited to help so I sent my team out I just wanted to know you know where is
01:28Kimora in the marketplace right now this is very common in the branding and
01:32marketing world and this is what we found out
01:37so we learned something from that which is you still have a huge association with baby fat but there's also this massive confidence and admiration for you it's kind of like the doors wide open
01:49where do we want to go it's like a rebirth yeah and I really want to come out with a bang people I think really want to know who is behind this brand they want to know what you stand for I mean I definitely think it's about women moms businesswomen all ages and sizes and colors that's one message that throughout my work is a
01:54consistent message
02:10okay show you need to take that message and become very visible with itwoman
02:23quickly yes so I think that's what's next and a great way to do that is through a
02:28charity event I think it's about brainstorming an organization that would
02:32be a great alliance for you where you could do the most in a short amount of
02:35time and have it be really authentic to you and your beliefs like for example I
02:40was approached by dress for success I don't know yes amazing dress for success
02:44is an organization that helps disadvantaged women by providing them
02:48with clothes training everything that they need to be confident and re-enter
02:52the work it's really a movement of empowerment and uplifting well let's see
02:56you come from the world of fashion maybe it's about 25 makeovers for 25 women so
03:01that's good a makeover from the inside out head to toe front to back I love it 25 is
03:06good we should try like 50 or 100 but a hundred is a good number like a hundred
03:11percent it's definitely it's a bigger production that's what I represent
03:18big big my business isn't the only thing growing fast these days Kenzo is getting
03:26bigger and more energetic every day and we need to channel that energy ready to go
03:31Kenzo let's have some fun today we're testing out mommy and me gymnastics we tried baby yoga
03:38he's wild but Kenzo wasn't feeling very zen we find him to be a bit rambunctious excellent come on
03:47over here gymnastics is probably the most structured sport there is
03:51can we do a frog jump can you do that are you sure
03:58let's see you walk across there oh it's wiggly jump
04:11I don't know if gymnastics is the sport for Kenzo maybe Kenzo is just a free spirit
04:34at least we worked off some of that energy that's how I feel Kayla's wiped out mommy and
04:44me nap time but there's no rest for the weary since moving on from baby fat my lovely Priscilla
04:53has found us a new office space for all my new ventures welcome welcome
04:58now this was short notice I'm definitely not an interior designer by any means however as I look
05:09around not quite so lovely whatever you don't like aesthetically what do you think about the color
05:16that wall is yelling at me I'm going I'm going I'm going okay well this is your office
05:27I was hoping for the palette to be a little more creamy and gold this looks a little puke
05:32we want a little French elegant okay what I want is my old office back no I don't we've let go of
05:39the past I mean you did a great job Priscilla but we just need some little tweaks okay it's a new
05:44space it's a new it's a new us this is like the beginning of the the rest of your empire you
05:49know move forward the first thing we're doing out of this office dress for success Alma you're
05:54going to run point on this so let's have a meeting the first thing we should do Alma is
05:58reach out to an event planner you're working for charity for a great cause and I bet you
06:02people will volunteer their time and help you get this done people don't like working for free
06:09this is important Alma 100 women's a lot we can do this we have to go big or go home you want to
06:15go home right now yes I feel like my chances are about 25 percent of pulling this off but they've
06:24been lower don't let us down we need to look good this is our first fresh new step out into the world
06:29and we're also helping these ladies make their first fresh new step out into the world everything
06:34from here on out is going to inspire and uplift and we are going to take with us the millions of
06:38women worldwide that have grown up with us and come along so far on this journey we're just gonna
06:42walk through town and gather them up as we go forward March we are back hi nice to see you today Amy and
06:55I are meeting with the event planner and Tracy from dress for success hi Marley from the party got us how
07:00are you hi nice to meet you when Alma first called me to do this event for Kimora obviously I was super
07:05excited like beyond because when Kimora Lee Simmons calls you're like dude I've arrived so I know you
07:11reached out to Kimora and she loves this organization Kimora is starting over herself and I know that the
07:17women in dress for success are also starting over she wants to do this over-the-top fabulous event where
07:22she gets to make over a hundred women wow so really yeah she likes to go big you know what initially I
07:32was a little surprised this is an opportunity for Kimora to come out strong while empowering other
07:38women to step into their new lives as well but to have a hundred you know typically people try on three
07:45to seven outfits so that would mean I'd have to bring 700 suits what might help is if we had
07:52everyone show up like they were going to a job fair or a job interview oh perfect and that way we could
07:58see who needs the most yeah Kimora can really even walk through and say love the red lip you know I
08:04would do a start for this great this is a woman who has a long history in fashion I think she knows how
08:10to get dressed so we need a panel of evaluators exactly when they walk perfect so hundred ladies
08:17mm-hmm then all the teams to make these ladies over so the hair the makeup and then of course stylist
08:25okay my next question then is budget this is all going to be volunteer here how exactly is that gonna
08:34happen well because this is such a great charity event we're hoping that people are gonna want to
08:39volunteer their time like we want to volunteer ours like the whole world like everybody to do the
08:43makeup and hair and the three to seven outfits it's a lot to digest as soon as the reality sets in about
08:50these details they start freaking out because it's practically impossible to get this done I mean how
08:55are we gonna how in God's green land are we gonna be doing this you're one of the biggest event
09:00planners in Los Angeles I understand that yeah okay I'm a little scared I'm gonna need like a vodka tonic
09:06right after this meeting I'm actually terrified I thought that I got the perfect event planner because
09:12she's done a lot of high-profile event but seeing her reaction it really is making me scared this is
09:17really important to Kimora so I really need her to be able to pull it off so we don't want this we want to make it come
09:39together in a grand way for no money and donate time so good okay Danielle is dragging me to a health
09:46food store doesn't it feel better oh my husband's out of town making movies well my little hubby goes my
09:53boyfriend comes in I'm building KLS into a global brand our first step is a charity event giving a
10:15hundred makeovers to a hundred women this is a huge undertaking and I'm a little stressed out but when
10:22the going gets tough what what's going on over there the tough get snacky I have three kids I'm
10:27running here and there I need to eat carbs we can have one slice right but Danielle I'm a big old
10:32girl I'm six four in heels you giving me a little piece of bread it's like giving a whale a tic tac
10:36it's not even funny Danielle because you pick on me as though I have a will here I don't have a choice
10:42but what do you mean it's calling me but I pick on you because I care about you and I know you want
10:46to be a certain way when giant comes back because you hope Danielle just doesn't understand sometimes
10:53life is hard and you need a little pick me up a little a little crutch so I want to be
10:58healthy you know when you're not healthy your brain feels a little clogged you feel slower and sluggish
11:05and I know that but I'm emotional like busy I'm stressed my husband's out of town making movies when
11:11my little hubby goes my boyfriend comes in exactly anyone boyfriend says to me eat me eat me and I
11:19say I love you you want to grab the right things on the go I want to grab the right things on the
11:23plate well I want to grab this but this is calling me louder don't you hear it but this is so much
11:29more satisfying this will get you through the day and this will make you crash you need to calm your
11:34cravings with the food we're gonna go to the store right now and swap out all the junk food for all the
11:40good food security it's a crazy chick on the property okay well you guys are gonna love this
11:51one our brand new clients miss fabulosity camora leads an event we've got a hundred women that we've
11:57got to make over there's a small catch no budget small problem we're gonna pull all of our resources
12:04together so that we can call them and be like please help what we have to do just the short list is
12:10find a venue for no money we need hair we need makeup people and then classic we've already got a
12:16strama we need great swag now I'm having heart palpitations cannot emphasize this enough is
12:22Kimora it has to be perfect we have to knock it out of the park and have fun get planning
12:28I just can't stop snacking on the junk especially when diamond's away and I have so much going on so

16:18okay so um next thing is kind of hollywood like the red black very glam
16:23it's like their own whole paparazzi kind of vip experience
16:26i love the whole idea of the flash bulbs and the glitz and making them feel like they're the star of the moment which they are
16:33but not the red
16:35but i love the story
16:36okay so now we go kind of gold purple light with this
16:41i love the gold i love the purple and the rich colors i like florals so i love that lavender cupcake cupcakes are my thing
16:48i really want to own purple and i really want to own gold but the ways that those can stand out is really against something really clean
16:54but then we're losing some of the flash bulbs and the glitz like we need a little
16:59a little pizzazz that's what kimora brings to the table
17:02so we don't want this this we don't really like
17:05we want this because this is very we're good with hollywood
17:09it's just a little bit to make them feel glamorous table

20:26and i want to make sure that marley knows how important it is to get every detail perfect
20:31so kimura mentioned to me that she wanted some you are fabulous signs
20:35they would be white and then with like purple and gold accent like the decor

20:46so we are now adding signs

27:17it's an hour before the event and we have a ton to do so i'm slightly freaking out
27:21can i just say that at noon yesterday i had 60 people
27:24and now you have 130
27:25yeah people love tomorrow what can you say
27:28i was 100 challenged when it was 100 women and i was trying to get it down to 25
27:32and so now it's like we have 130 women and counting
27:35the swag bags nothing is handled
27:38we found out this morning that maybe there's going to be an issue with the power
27:41the cupcakes are wrong they are supposed to be lavender and have those floral touches on them
27:45my stress level is probably like one to ten is probably a fourteen and a half
27:50once marley's team has the event space set up that's when i really start to worry
27:55it's a little brown and we wanted white with touches of purple and gold
28:00on top of that the cupcakes aren't the right color there's no banners here yet
28:05it's like it's crazy
28:07goodie bags i'm still there yeah they're supposed to be purple
28:11the gold was anybody in the creative meeting
28:13this could not be more derailed
28:15yeah camora's brand big f
28:17yeah camora's trusted me with this event and if it does not come together she's gonna be livid
28:24we have like 40 minutes until camora gets here so this has to be completely locked and loaded all hands on deck

32:19this will be my first big event so it's really important to get all of the details perfect

32:43they don't have not a one flower
32:45there's nothing that we talked about in here
32:47i'm feeling a little disappointed
32:49that i'ma let the ball drop on all this
32:51i wanted to make a splash
32:53and this feels like a sploosh
32:55is that a word sploosh
32:57you ready for your speech today
32:59oh god
33:01and to make matters worse
33:03amy is really pushing me to do a speech
33:05it makes me nervous
33:06and i hate it
33:07why don't we sit down and go over what you've written
33:09oh well i was taking her tour first
33:11oh okay okay so i'll get out of here
33:13between the speech that i don't want to make
33:15and all the details that amma and marley didn't follow through on
33:17i feel like i'm on a tour of everything that is wrong
33:21so here is the styling section
33:23where everyone gets their clothes
33:25everyone's getting a piece of leah sofia jewelry to take home with them
33:29and see the gold mirrors and lights just like you wanted
33:33oh the makeup stations look great
33:35the styling area looks great
33:37so i'm just hoping these women have such a fabulous time
33:39that comora will overlook the fact that the decor isn't quite on point
33:43oh some of these pieces are quite fabulous
33:45this is crispy
33:47i really do believe that every detail counts
33:49especially when it comes to branding
33:51looking around the room
33:53i realize that this event
33:55is all about these women
33:57i know you're cute
33:59and seeing the newfound confidence
34:01that we're helping them to find is really
34:03what fabulosity is all about
34:05just a few little tweaks on the outside
34:07that little black blazer would bring all this together
34:09you can add a little pop of color but not too much
34:11you can make a big difference in how you feel on the inside
34:13you need to feel great to look great
34:15and vice versa
34:17i would like to get a little heel out of you

34:21i would blend on the nose a little more so it's not too much
34:23the makeover was awesome
34:25i learned about camora
34:27i learned that she cared about me
34:29you look great
34:31i am so grateful to be able to connect with these women one-on-one
34:33what got me here is i was in the united states marine corps and i'm a breast cancer survivor
34:39so the last six years of my life
34:41just went crazy
34:43you know when you're in the military you kind of downplay hair and makeup
34:45so to bring out the natural beauty i feel fantastic and empowered right now
34:50all about the sisterhood
34:52what i got from camora was you may not feel good about yourself but just taking the steps to go forward is what you need to keep going

35:10i feel a lot of things going on in my life to where it makes me feel like a kindred spirit to be here and be involved in there
35:15so many people are going through transitions in their life

35:18everyone here is from one of our partner agencies so we have like the urban league female veterans and we have people for a skid row so to get things
35:25i talk to a lot of them and i feel like it's just one small step that makes any one of us different than anyone else
35:29one girl was like oh i use a lot of bad language me too
35:32she was like no i get a little mad and i'll attack somebody
35:35uh me too me too
35:37how old is your son now

35:39he's one
35:40i should have brought him
35:41he's trying to take all you home
35:43our circumstances may seem different but we really have a lot of the same stresses in life
35:47but i have two twins there too
35:49yes you know i have three kids and it's a lot
35:51and if it gets to be too much and we can't take it just go in the other room tell them you'll be back

35:56we can't go back and change the past we can make everything better from right now
35:59that's what we're gonna do right

36:05i'm so happy that i could share this day with such a great group of women

36:25and even though these cupcakes were not all lavender as we discussed

36:31because after all we can be accepting of cupcakes of all colors

36:39the cupcakes are calling out kimura
36:41a little burst of sweetness will help you get rid of your troubles
36:46sometimes ama we need it

36:50you're gonna go talk to a room full of a hundred something
36:52yes ama i do i have i have a little eucalyptus but honey
36:56so i whip out my eucalyptus and i try to get myself back on that beach

37:08it wouldn't be a fresh start if i gave in to old temptations
37:12and in light of that i will not let my fear get the best of me

37:22i mean i've been talking to a lot of women though
37:23i mean i've talked to heroin addicts
37:25women that have been in jail yesterday
37:27and got out to come see us today
37:28and that makes me feel more empowered

37:30just the one point that i think is important here because it's dressed for success is it's
37:34not just about a new suit
37:35it's like a new sense of confidence feeling really good and solid on the inside too

39:23today we did a hundred makeovers on a hundred women
39:27i'm in the middle of the dress for success event i hate public speaking but in honor of fresh starts i'm trying my best
39:35the point of what i'm trying to say is that there's not much difference in in each of us

39:47them no cards i couldn't read them no cards one through seven all the little numbers it was confusing to me i was blurring out
39:56but as i look out in the sea of faces i just feel like these women are so inspiring
40:04and i know it took a lot to get them here today and i don't want to let them down
40:08okay so i had the speech but i don't think i'm gonna read it
40:11that's okay
40:13cause i'm nervous so i wrote the speech and now i'm too nervous to read the speech
40:16i know my brand i know my story and now i know these women and i'm just gonna speak from the heart
40:23i created a company called baby fat and now like you i'm making a fresh start as well and i too don't quite have a job
40:32there's potholes for everybody but some people trip over it some people step over it some people fall in it
40:37sometimes it takes a amen
40:40and sometimes it may take a friend or someone to give you a hand up and to recognize that goddess in you but ultimately
40:48you have to know that she's in there and it doesn't matter where we came from
40:51it doesn't matter that i was a little ugly girl from st louis cause look what i did
40:55and you all when you look at the person next to you shake their hand give them a pat on the back tell them how great they look
41:06because when you're telling the next person that person next to you is telling you too
41:10so everybody tell everybody you are fabulous
41:18thank you i don't always feel it though do you know i go home at night sometimes i put my kids to bed
41:22i go in my room i cry my husband's an actor he's not always in town and i boo hoo and my eyes are swollen
41:29and i'm like i can't go on and then my phone rings and it's like we need this and if you don't show up here
41:35none of us are gonna eat and so i realize i have to keep it moving and i think that's kind of the same for everybody
41:40you're gonna go home you're gonna cry you're gonna feel busted that phone's gonna ring somebody needs you
41:46it is not about you only keep it moving know that i believe in you and i love you and i'll see you again soon
41:53i will see you at the top because that's where i'm headed
