Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed to GB News whether he would make a political comeback, after admitting that the Conservatives are in a "tough spot". In an exclusive interview with Patrick Christys, Johnson said: "I'm not convinced I am in a position to do that at the moment."Our party is in a tough spot. As Kemi [Badenoch] has said, we always knew going into these local elections and it wasn't going to be brilliant. Everybody knew that was coming. "And I think one thing, Kemi is a very interesting and original mind. I think she's probably the most original thinker of the current crop of leaders by a long, long way. And I think she just needs time to get going."WATCH ABOVE.
00:00I want to ask you about some of the latest opinion polls, because they say very clearly that only you can save the Conservative Party.
00:09Look at where we are today. Boris, look at where we are today. The Battle of Britain bunker.
00:14You're a historian. You're a patriot. You're a patriot.
00:19So if you care about Britain, you care about your party, why don't you come back and lead it?
00:23Well, look, I mean, first of all, it's all in the pages of Unleash, which I've discussed with you before.
00:31Yes. Surprised you haven't brought a copy with you.
00:33No, normally I have a copy, which I try to sort of rugby past you.
00:37No, I've got, look, it's all there. Her late Majesty the Queen said to me, a very good thing I've never forgotten about politics is really only do things if you genuinely think you can be useful.
00:51And at the moment, yes, it's true. Our party, and I'm not, I'm not convinced I, I, I'm in a position to do that moment.
00:59Our party is in a tough spot. As Kemi has said, you know, we always knew going into these local elections and it was, it wasn't going to be brilliant.
01:09Everybody, everybody knew that was coming. And I think one thing, Kemi is a very interesting and original mind.
01:19I think she's probably the most original thinker of the current crop of leaders by a long, a long way.
01:26And I think she just needs time to, to, to get going. And she has got time.
01:31You know, people say, you know, they look at this or that poll, that Linton Crosby used to, used to, used to remind me that there was a time when John Howard was on 9%.
01:43And the, and the magazines in Australia, you remember John Howard, the magazines in Australia used to run pictures of John Howard on the cover saying, why does this guy bother?
01:51And, and, and, and, and, and, and he was, you know, he was thought to be complete 9%, right?
01:58Yeah.
01:58He went on to be the most successful international conservative prime minister since Margaret Thatcher, at least 10 years in power, did a huge amount of good for Australia and completely turned it around because he was dogged and he was determined and he got things done.
02:17And I think that's the, the template for, for Kemi. I don't, if I were her, I would, I would just keep going. And by the way, I mean, the other thing, of course, how it did, he said the boat's back, man.
02:30Yeah.
02:30He turned back the boats. That's one thing. I think, so if, I think if we need to come up with a plan for that, and we've got one, we had one, we need to get back to that. Kemi should go hard, hard, hard on, on that.
