Chinese automaker BYD is rapidly gaining ground in Europe, outselling Tesla in Germany and the UK last month, according to Electrek. BYD sold over 380,000 new energy vehicles in April, a 21% increase from the same month last year. Since ending gas-powered car production in 2022, the company has focused solely on EVs and plug-in hybrid EVs, a strategy that has proven successful. BYD sold over 79,000 vehicles overseas in April, marking its fifth consecutive month of international growth. Year-to-date, overseas sales have surpassed 285,000, more than doubling compared to last year. The EV giant outsold Tesla in Germany last month, according to sales data from the German federal road traffic agency, KBA.
