00:13The Tesla rival reported 0.3% growth in May global sales, reaching 383,453 units and ending
00:22a months-long decline streak that began in July 2025. Production figures rose 8.8% year-over-year.
00:30Overseas markets drove the rebound, with BYD selling 160,644 units internationally, up 80.4%
00:39year-over-year. Domestic sales remained under pressure as China's government moved to rein
00:44in a price war among automakers. Chinese authorities also launched an investigation into BYD and other
00:51automakers over battery degradation and longer charging times following over-the-air software
00:56updates. Tesla posted strong European gains during the same period, with French sales jumping
01:01655% to 5,446 vehicles in May. Sales also rose in Sweden, Denmark, Spain, and Norway.
