yeah my name is Donald I'm from I represent people street art collective
00:10
here in Derry we're here in celebration they highlight the fact that all these
00:16
young people put some great work on their community mural here as you can
00:20
see behind we got some workshops in the lead-up and got some of their ideas and
00:24
then we developed it alongside them and got them to help us work on this piece
00:28
here behind us which just sort of livened up and made it a bit more welcoming as
00:32
you enter this area
00:37
great some bridges are great we've done a few projects we've been doing this for
00:41
quite a while so we can't do it without the participants because it is a true
00:45
collaboration we draw the ideas out of those guys and that's how we get the
00:49
content for what it is so it reflects back it's their mural they own it you know
00:53
they designed it and executed as well we're just here to facilitate them and
00:57
given that experience
01:04
well it develops over a number of weeks really so we don't try and rush it you know
01:09
the idea we like the idea to come naturally I suppose so once we give the
01:15
kids a bit of a brief of what we want from them they're great we're coming for the
01:19
ideas so a few weeks of doing that and then a few weeks they execute as you can
01:23
see it's it's quite big so we were quite lucky whether well our campus was on the
01:28
right side was on our side for this one
01:30
it's great to see it I mean it's been completed now for a few weeks so it's
01:37
great to see that it's it's untouched as well and if you had seen what was there
01:41
before there's a lot of negative stuff on it it was pretty unsightly and you know
01:46
first impressions came everything so we enter a community like this which is a new
01:50
community as well so that's where the young people give us the idea a community in bloom it's a
01:54
growing community as well so great to see it brilliant to see it untouched and the young
01:59
people should be really proud of themselves to be honest
02:01
yes surely I am councillor Amanda Clark I am one of the Sinn Féin representatives for the area
02:07
can you tell me what's it like seeing in Nairobi and Unveld today and you're bringing a bit of passes
02:11
have you there coming around it's fantastic because this corner here is always associated with vandalism
02:16
you know and a lot of times things have been kicked down and burnt so to see this here
02:19
um the Gairds and the fellows using their initiative and using their imagination and
02:24
bring just a wee positive message to that corner it's fantastic like it's welcoming too for the
02:28
community what's it like seeing the collaboration between you know growing hours with people and
02:33
getting that million school looks and forces in well it's always nice to have the local schools you
02:38
know these wings here they're our future you know they're our future political reps our
02:43
future doctors and nurses and things like that so it's always nice to have them taking pride
02:47
a place and um just providing a positive vibe in the area but it was lovely to see people bringing
02:52
out the creativity as well you know people that the wings were thinking they weren't creative and
02:56
then the reef is the same when they saw you know their their wall over there which was great to see
03:17
from the air on by the way you know your house and then the reef is the same way that the reef has been
03:33
ed it's really nice to see people bringing in the air the way that the reef has been the same way that the reef has been
