00:00No matter how famous you are, you're not Seinfeld famous.
00:03Hi, I'm Nate Bargetsy.
00:05This is For the Record.
00:08OK, let's get started.
00:10This picture is me playing George Washington.
00:12Never thought I would have a connection with George
00:15Washington, and I'm sure this is one that if he was here,
00:18he would be proud of, and I'd get to meet him.
00:20That's what I like to picture.
00:21Like, I'd get to meet him, and he'd be like, hey.
00:23And he's like, oh, you're the, and I go, yeah, yeah.
00:26And then that would be about it.
00:27This is the most viral thing I've ever done.
00:30It got passed around everywhere.
00:32It still gets passed around now.
00:33It was fun to get to be a part of something that known
00:36with the show Saturday Night Live.
00:38It perfectly played to my strengths.
00:41It did not go off as good in table read,
00:44but I knew once we got in front of an audience,
00:46my timing be off that crowd, that it would do good.
00:49And so we did it in dress rehearsal last.
00:51It destroyed, and then so then it went on to what it's become.
00:57This photo, this is an appearance with Fallon.
01:00Yeah, this is my old look.
01:02It looked like I just sell boats for a living.
01:04It looked like Jester Beeper wasn't going to make it.
01:06This is what he would have looked like.
01:08Or if he just was a dad.
01:09A Canadian dad, this is where he would have been.
01:12Which of your Fallon appearances sticks out to you the most?
01:15The first time, I got to just do the couch.
01:16Mostly, I'm doing stand-up, and maybe you
01:19get to go sit on the couch.
01:20So when I was able to just go straight to the couch,
01:23that was a big checkoff moment that you entered into a different spot in your career.
01:28To get to do it all with Jimmy has made it unbelievable.
01:32This photo is in New York for SNL 50, New York Comedy Club.
01:36It used to be the Eastfield Comedy Club.
01:38And it's me, Todd Berry, Jim Gaffigan, Mark Norman, and Matt Ruby.
01:43All comedians were on the show.
01:44I bought that jacket and that under thing that day.
01:47I was pretty pumped about that jacket.
01:49This room is where I first got Conan.
01:52So my first late night appearance was late night with Conan O'Brien.
01:55First time I did late night with Conan was September.
01:57And then it was December, they were doing more auditions.
02:00I go, oh, I'm going to try to audition again.
02:02My managers at the time, they go, you can't audition again
02:04because you were on it too recent.
02:06And I was like, well, I bet I could try.
02:08And they go, you can't try.
02:10I was like, well, I'm just going to do it on my own.
02:12So then they came down.
02:13They're like, oh, so you went ahead and did it.
02:15I go, yeah, I don't know why you're saying I can't.
02:17And I got on it again.
02:18So that felt good.
02:20It means, you know, just don't listen to when people tell you stuff.
02:23Just go do it.
02:24Just do what you feel.
02:27Me and Haley Jo Osmond inside a golf tournament.
02:29We played golf together a few times.
02:31So he played Entourage the Movie, Billy Bob Thornton's son.
02:35So I auditioned for that part.
02:37I went to an acting coach.
02:39And I was like, I got this audition.
02:41And we did it.
02:42And I go, what do you think?
02:45And he told me, I think you should try to get out of the audition.
02:47It would come off better you canceling than it would you showing up.
02:52That's how bad I did.
02:53You know, and I was like, I don't care.
02:55You know, so I went and did it.
02:57I got a call back.
02:58They were like, if you dyed your hair black, I think you would look younger.
03:01And they go, did you read the script?
03:03And I go, I did not because I'm a big fan of Entourage.
03:06I did not want to ruin the movie.
03:07Then they, so they, well, you need to read it.
03:09So then I read the script and came back.
03:11I did not dye my hair.
03:12But I was like, again, why am I going to go change everything?
03:16Like, who are we kidding?
03:17I'm not going to get it against.
03:18Look, they went the right, they made the right choice.
03:20And the movie was fun.
03:22Were there any other roles you auditioned for but didn't get?
03:24One was The Daily Show when Jon Stewart was there.
03:28My audition tape was so good.
03:30They showed it to other people auditioning, being like, this is the type of audition we want.
03:35Jordan Klepper, who got the part, it was between me and him.
03:38So we go to The Daily Show.
03:39And I look like, I look in that earlier picture.
03:42It looked like I was going to divorce court trying to get to see my daughter.
03:47And the judge was like, no, because obviously we can't.
03:50I go in and I do my little part with Jon Stewart.
03:53And then there was another part I was having to read the words of Jon Oliver.
03:56Like I had to do a green screen.
03:58Well, Jon Oliver is quite the educated man.
04:01And let's just say we use some different words.
04:03And the audition went really bad.
04:05I don't know if I was a block away and they already called my agent and said, like,
04:09he's not getting it.
04:10That's one I always regret because comedians, we don't know how to take something serious.
04:17But they, again, they also made the right choice.
04:20This is a Christmas show on CBS.
04:23And it is a play on the George Washington sketch.
04:25Streeter and Mikey wrote this with me.
04:27They loved it because we shot this at the Grand Ole Opry.
04:31It's about 5,000 seats.
04:32So they've never done a sketch with that many people in the crowd.
04:36Pausing for the laughter and all this stuff was just so different and something that
04:41they haven't experienced.
04:42So it was fun to watch them get to do what they do best in that kind of a big setting.
04:48Darius Rucker like crushed it.
04:50And he was super funny.
04:52Darius is someone else I've got to know.
04:54I like doing stuff with people that I have a relationship with.
04:57I want everything to feel like it's like we're friends.
05:00And me and Darius are friends and we've golfed together a lot.
05:03We had Carrie Underwood, also another one that came on and sang a Christmas song for us.
05:07So getting to host this and put this all together.
05:09It was just like, I would say one of my highlights of my career.
05:13This is me and my dad in Las Vegas at the Wynn.
05:18My dad's a magician.
05:19So he comes out with me and opens with me sometimes on the road.
05:22So this is one of the first times we did it.
05:23He started, we made him win.
05:25We didn't make him, but he's still got his badge on to let him backstage just in case.
05:30People will put a stop to him because he doesn't look like he should be back there.
05:33When I got my dad open for me, he was very excited about it and he cries a lot.
05:38Thanks for loving my son.
05:43People in the audience is crying.
05:45So I got to put a stop to that pretty quick because I got to do a show.
05:48So I learned a quick line is when he cries and I get up there.
05:51And then I just go, just so you know, that was not my dad.
05:54And then that brings everybody back to having fun.
05:58This is me and Jerry Seinfeld.
06:00We went to a diner.
06:01Me and him have got to know each other.
06:03He's been very, very nice to me.
06:05He sent me a voice text after my special Hello World.
06:10And the fact that he did it in a voice text is unbelievable.
06:12And I was able to keep it, my parents able to hear it,
06:16to hear his voice, the voice I know so well, be so nice to me.
06:20You know, no matter how famous you are, you're not Seinfeld famous.
06:24Because you could think you're like, ah, I'm pretty big now.
06:27And then you go, you're not Seinfeld, dude.
06:30You're just not that.
06:31All right, come check me out on tour.
06:33The Big Dumb Eyes tour.
06:36It's going to be amazing.
06:37We're going back to a bunch of cities.
06:38Bring your grandparents.
06:39I am for grandparents.
06:41Thanks for watchin'.
