00:00Prince Harry suffers a major life setback. Prince Harry's legal battle rages on Prince
00:05Harry suffered a major setback in one of his legal proceedings on May 2nd after a judge
00:11dismissed his appeal to regain state-funded security from the United Kingdom. The Duke
00:15of Sussex, 40, has been fighting to regain the security detail for him and his family
00:21after he and Meghan Markle, 43, stepped back from their royal duties and moved to the United
00:27States back in 2020. According to the verdict reported by People, a judge called the decision
00:33not to restore the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's security detail understandable and perhaps
00:39predictable, and explained that the Duke was, in effect, stepping in and out of the cohort
00:45of protection provided by Ravec, the government's Royal and VIP Executive Committee. Outside the UK,
00:52he was outside the cohort, but when in the UK, his security would be considered as appropriate
00:58depending on the circumstances. Even if there had been a risk analysis from the risk management board,
01:05it would very likely have only confirmed the threat, vulnerability, and impact levels which
01:09the Duke of Sussex had faced when earlier risk analyses were undertaken, the judge continued.
01:15But it would have had nothing to say on the critical features of the changed situation,
01:19namely, the need for protective security on future uncertain visits and the government's
01:25appetite for risk. Prince Harry initially lost his first case against the Ravec back in February
01:312024, so the latest loss is a setback for him and his family. The Duke of Sussex has been fighting
01:38in court since early April, and his lawyers said that he and the Duchess felt forced to step back from
01:44the role of full-time official working members of the royal family as they considered they were not
01:48being protected by the institution. Prince Harry previously told people this case was the one
01:54that has always mattered the most, referencing his other legal battles against the British tabloids.
