00:22The pair made a surprise appearance on May 8th at a concert in London that commemorated the 80th anniversary of V.E., Victory in Europe Day.
00:33Joining William's father, King Charles, his stepmother, Queen Camilla, and several other members of the royal family, reports, people.
00:42As William and Kate entered the venue and filed into their seats,
00:46the Prince of Wales gently guided his wife by placing his hand on her back.
00:50This may not seem like much to American readers,
00:54but the royal family famously refrains from public displays of affection of any kind,
00:59with the exception of major moments like sharing a public kiss at their wedding.
01:03However, both William and Kate have bent the rules and modified traditions over the years,
01:08relaxing some of the norms that were established by their predecessors.
01:13Last month, they broke from another tradition,
01:15choosing to celebrate the Easter holiday weekend at their country home in Norfolk
01:20instead of attending Easter services in Windsor.

01:25taking to social media to commend the couple for choosing to spend more time together with their young children
