00:00Eric Dane shares heartbreaking update amid ALS battle.

00:04I don't think anybody would blame me.

00:06Eric Dane recently returned to the small screen for a guest role in Brilliant Minds.

00:12The actor played an ALS patient while battling the disease in real life.

00:17Dane, 53, admitted it was difficult to separate himself from his character,

00:22an experience he called cathartic and so real,

00:25during a virtual panel featuring IMALs and Synapticure co-founders,

00:30Ryan Wallach and Sandra Abrivia, for giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 2nd.

00:35I have no reason to be in a good spirit at any time, on any given day.

00:39I don't think anybody would blame me if I went upstairs in my bedroom,

00:42crawled under the sheets and spent the next two weeks crying, he admitted, according to people.

00:46And I was a little bit pleasantly surprised when I realized that I wasn't built like that,

00:51because I thought for sure that was going to be me.

00:53He continued,

00:54It's imperative that I share my journey with as many people as I can,

00:57because I don't feel like my life is about me.

01:00Anymore.

01:02The Grey's Anatomy Alem first announced his diagnosis in April,

01:06telling people,

01:07I am grateful to have my loving family by my side,

01:10as we navigate this next chapter.

01:12Dane, who shares daughters Billy and Georgia with Rebecca Gayhart,

01:15later opened up about his battle during an interview with Diane Sawyer,

01:19explaining in June that he had one functioning arm.

01:21I have a family at home, and they're the priority, Dane said Tuesday night.

01:26But this is such a big deal to me.

01:28I make sure that people are aware of what ALS is and what it's about.

01:32More importantly, what we can do to combat it and improve the landscape,

01:35because it's so rocky and littered with hurdles and bureaucracy and all this other nonsense

01:39that we're trying to sift through so we can get to a place where we go,

01:42start working on solution.
