00:00All right, we went over the expectations in the dressing room.
00:05All punches right here on him are good.
00:08Right here at Star Bien, okay?
00:10Obey my commands. EscĂșchame.
00:11Let's go. Touch him up. Scoot back.
00:14El General Emiliano Fernando Vargas walked in accompanied by two former champions.
00:18His father, El Feroz Fernando Vargas, and Brandon Moreno.
00:22The first Mexican to ever win a UFC championship.
00:25The former two-time UFC flyweight champion.
00:28And look, when we first met Emiliano, he said,
00:31I want to beat my dad's record of becoming a world champion under the age of 21 years old and 105 days.
00:39Since then, he stopped in his stance because his father said,
00:42I'm not going to let you make the same mistakes I made in my career and get rushed.
00:46And they have done an amazing job in how they're leading this young man's career to 13-0 so far.
00:53Yeah, because it's two fights away.
00:55His father won the world championship in his 15th professional fight.
00:58And then they threw him in against Tito Trinidad when he was just too young.
01:04Emiliano Vargas just turned 21 after his last fight in March 29th.
01:09So what did he do?
01:11Bought himself a Rolex.
01:12And he says,
01:12It's just something I wanted to do for myself, but he's got so much potential, Tim, and so much ability.
01:20And he's showing it early on here against Juan LeĂłn, just being technically savvy.
01:26That's not a Rolex.
01:28No?
01:29That's a gold, all gold Rolex.
01:31That means something.
01:34That distinguishes you amongst everybody.
01:38Not many people walking around with a gold Rolex.
01:41Anyhow.
01:42Go ahead.
01:43Anyhow, I like what I'm seeing thus far.
01:46You know, that's the one thing you're going to see with this young man, Emiliano Vargas, is smart boxing.
01:52You know, and I'm saying boxing.
01:54I'm not saying running.
01:56There's a big difference.
01:57He uses his movement to create openings.
02:01He's to set traps, to lure his men in.
02:03He's not just running around the ring just to look too cute, you know, and dance around the ring.
02:09He's boxing.
02:10Not like the last 48 rounds we've seen in New York and Saudi Arabia with Canelo.
02:16That's a nice setup right there.
02:18Nice stab jab right there, and then coming right over the top.
02:21Again, that jab downstairs is one to siphon the gas tank of the opposition, but at the same time,
02:26it also brings the defense down, allows you to open up shots upstairs, and as you see already,
02:32he's getting off to a big start.
02:33I mean, he punched through the gloves of the Spaniard Juan LeĂłn.
02:39He was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, moved to New York City as a young man,
02:45and then after he competed in the Golden Gloves in New York and ringside tournaments,
02:50he went back to Spain with his mom, where he became a professional at age 21.
02:57That's a nice stab jab from Emiliano.
02:59You just see the full arsenal that he's been able to develop over the years.
03:05Yeah, look, I'm looking at the setups.
03:07I'm looking at the setups, and you say the full arsenal.
03:09Nice combination there from LeĂłn.
03:11I'm looking at the different techniques that he's using.
03:13One, two, has he mastered the techniques, and are they skilled?
03:17So the method that he's using, that's the technique.
03:19So, like the slip counter, is he able to land that excessively during the fight?
03:24Can he land it consistently during the fight?
03:26In ways he's setting it up.
03:28So, hey, he's looking good skill-wise.
03:30Man, his level has definitely risen since the first time I saw him.
03:33All right, let's listen in to El Peros, his father.
03:37Good run.
03:38Good feeling around.
03:39Good feeling around.
03:40That's how I want you to manage your left hand.
03:46Be careful, because this guy has nice uppercuts.
03:48I remember how we were doing it in the locker room.
03:53Keep that right hand in a good defensive position.
03:58When he throws the uppercut, you catch it, and then you come with the 3-2.
04:02Or you catch it, or you dig to the body of the uppercut with the left.
04:06You're boxing beautifully.
04:07I need you to keep your hands up defensively responsible.
04:11Pressure by moving and touching him up.
04:14We're going to touch him downstairs, too.
04:18When he gets his hand up, you go downstairs.
04:21He's expecting your left hook over the top, so go downstairs with him.
04:24Let's work, okay?
04:25Good job.
04:26Emiliano told us in the fighter meeting,
04:29I expect this fight to go around because Leone's going to try to make it rough.
04:33I'm going to box beautifully, and I'm going to walk him into something.
04:36Let's see what happens here as we get into round two of a scheduled eight-round fight.
04:42Juan Leone, he defeated Ricardo Fernandez in April 2023.
04:46That was before Fernandez upset Alan Garcia with that vicious knockout.
04:52And he says, we've talked about that fight since then.
04:55I know what I'm up against.
04:57Stop!
04:58I got you.
04:59See, that's a nice little tactic right there.
05:01You had Vargas stuck in the corner right there, and he just dipped down low,
05:05tucked in, and smothered his opposition and got back to the center of the ring.
05:10Very smart tactic when you get trapped along the ropes.
05:14But again, you've got to be using the right tactics at the right time,
05:16and that was the right time.
05:18You can tell he's thinking about that ring.
05:20Leone, what he's got to do is continue to make it rough and tough.
05:24You know, he's got to take this young man, trying to avoid getting knocked out,
05:27trying to get hit with the big shot.
05:29He landed two left hooks I saw thus far in this fight.
05:34And that's the punch that I believe that he can do some damage with against a young Vargas.
05:39That's a straight right from Emiliano.
05:41We talked about the maturity, and he says,
05:44look, the biggest improvement I've seen in myself.
05:47Oh!
05:47That was that!
05:48The straight right hand and the left hook combination!
05:50Three, four, five, six, seven, eight!
05:58He said, I'm listening.
06:03I'm listening to my dad.
06:04I'm listening to my mentor.
06:06I'm letting them guide me.
06:08But you see the explosiveness of Emiliano Vargas.
06:10And now it's a right-left hook combination that sends down Leone for the second time,
06:15and the fight is being called off as Leone crawls over the ring!
06:18Go, go, go, go.
06:19Tim Bradley.
06:22He's been only stopped once.
06:24Make it twice.
06:24Once.
06:26Wow, what an impressive victory.
06:29He's never been down, though.
06:31He suffered an ear injury, and that's why the fight was stopped.
06:34He had never been manhandled like he did was today by Emiliano El General, Fernando Vargas.
06:41And he goes right to his father to celebrate.
06:44What a finish.
06:46Man.
06:47This kid is fun to watch, Tim.
06:49Yes, he is.
06:50And, again, look, you can say whatever you want to say about the level of quality he's facing
06:55and this and that and the third.
06:57Again, it's the way he's breaking down these guys, the way he's setting up.
07:00I'm looking at all the various things that he's doing inside that ring.
07:04I see that his skills are improving.
07:06He's developing.
07:07He's getting better.
07:08You know, and Leone, I thought he landed a couple of good shots on him, you know,
07:13to give him something to worry about.
07:14He wasn't here for a paycheck.
07:16No.
07:16He was actually in there fighting.
07:18However, he got caught with that right hand.
07:21That was nasty.
07:22Yeah.
07:23Poor position.
07:24Wow.
07:25Poor position.
07:26Had his head in a bad spot.
07:29Here it is.
07:29Had his head in a bad spot.
07:31Let me see.
07:32Just moving his head.
07:34Trying to get some head work.
07:35Some good head movement, you know, trying to move his head off the line.
07:38But you see the double jab just to close the distance right there.
07:41And he lined up that right hand as he is pulling back to his right side, trying to load the right hand.
07:46Look, here it is again.
07:47Oh, actually, just the second knockdown at the end of the fight.
07:50Coming around that guard.
07:52Oh, it is coming up the middle with that uppercut.
07:56Beautiful shot right there.
07:57Excellent timing.
07:58Excellent placement by the young Vargas.
08:02Nice little feint downstairs.
08:03Again, coming around the guard and coming, splitting the guard after that, man.
08:09Look, it doesn't get any prettier than that, you know.
08:12And look, sometimes you can get overanxious and you might throw and you miss a shot.
08:17No.
08:17Yeah, that was right on the money.
08:19You know what impressed me most, Tim?
08:21If you go back and see that sequence, even though there were some power shots,
08:25there were some tapping shots in between as well.
08:28He had his hands moving at light speed.
08:31It was a double jab.
08:32Again, a close range to Occupy, right?
08:34But even after the power shot landed.
08:36Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
08:38Man, this young man continues to impress.
08:40He says, look, I don't come from a broken home.
08:43I don't have a chip on my shoulder.
08:45At age 12, I said, Mom, Dad, I'm never going to ask you for another dollar.
08:49I'm on my own.
08:50I do it my way.
08:51This young man continues to shine with that million-dollar smile.
08:55Here is Jimmy Lennon Jr. with the official time of the stopping.
08:58Ladies and gentlemen, we have the time of one minute, 40 seconds in round number two.
09:05A referee in charge, Robert Hoyle, stops the contest.
09:08He is the winner by way of technical knockout.
09:11And he is still undefeated.
09:14And the general Emiliano Fernando Vargas.
09:24You know what the difference is here?
09:26You said all the...
