00:00Hi there.
00:01Following the hottest start to May on record, it is now turning cooler from the north.
00:06The cool air has already been across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:10Cloudier skies have persisted through Thursday with a few showers and the old thunderstorm.
00:15And that cool air sinks south overnight, although it doesn't quite reach the far south where
00:19it's a muggy night.
00:21Some clear spells, but also increasing cloud into the south and south-west.
00:24A few showers pushing through parts of Mid Wales into the Midlands, the old thunderstorm.
00:29But for many, it's a dry night with a few clear spells and a big temperature contrast.
00:35Feeling cold first thing Friday in the north, a touch of grass, frost possible, but continuing
00:39to feel warm further south.
00:41And plenty of sunshine, actually, first thing through the Midlands, East Anglia and the
00:45south-east.
00:46Any early showers tending to peter out, always the chance of thicker cloud remaining around
00:50the south-western coast, some mist and fog around coastal areas as well.
00:54Cloudier skies further north once again, but this will break and thin into the afternoon.
00:57Some bright spells developing, showers continuing to affect the far north and north-west of Scotland.
01:01A cool breeze, 11 to 13 Celsius here.
01:04Further south, still a warm day in the south and south-east, 26 to 27 Celsius possible.
01:11But that warmth is continuing to be eroded away from the north.
01:15And as we head into the bank holiday weekend, a much colder night for southern areas compared
01:21with Thursday nights, I should say.
01:25And for most, it's single figures as we begin the weekend, mid to high single figures for
01:30the majority.
01:31And we've got a lot of cloud across Scotland, first thing, and we've got these showers continuing
01:35to affect the north and north-east of Scotland.
01:37Also, an increased chance of cloud and showers drifting up from the English Channel to affect
01:42southern counties of England.
01:44And these will be hit and miss, but there's the chance of some heavy downpours, even the
01:48old thunderstorm in the extreme south.
01:50And that's certainly going to limit temperatures on Saturday.
01:53And we've got even cooler air spreading in during Saturday night and into Sunday.
01:58You can see the isobars are pointing well up to the north and this cool, or you might
02:04even call it cold, airflow begins to penetrate parts of eastern UK in particular.
02:11Still some sunshine out there, still high pressure, keeping things mostly settled.
02:15But we will see a few showers heading into the North Sea coast.
02:19And then spank holiday Monday, that colder air is across the whole of the UK.
02:23So a marked temperature drop through the weekend, albeit with still plenty of mostly dry weather
02:30with that high pressure in charge.
02:31That high pressure sticks around all of next week with a day-on-day temperature rise beginning
02:37from Tuesday.
02:38We'll keep you updated right here.
