00:00I don't know about you, but I thought it was nice to have a taste of some spring sunshine
00:05on Thursday. Most of the UK enjoyed some warmth from the sun, but it's not going to last.
00:11We've got low pressure moving closer. It's because of that low that we've seen southerly
00:15winds bring higher temperatures on Thursday. But as we go through the night, those isobars
00:20will tighten, the winds will pick up and the first signs of a change will appear into the
00:24south-west with cloudier skies, and by midnight some showery rain into Cornwall. That's going
00:30to spread into parts of Pembrokeshire perhaps overnight, and then eventually Northern Ireland
00:35and there's always the chance of a few showers turning up into other parts of the south-west.
00:41Elsewhere a lot more cloud and more of a breeze, so less frosty compared with the recent mornings,
00:46certainly a milder start for most, but still the potential for a touch of frost in sheltered
00:51parts of Northern Scotland for example, Northern England if we get some cloud breaks. A chilly
00:55start in the far north end, but otherwise for many it's a cloudy and mild start to the
01:00day and increasingly unsettled in the west. We've got these spells of rain or showers
01:05moving up across south-west England, Wales, Northern Ireland and western Scotland through
01:08the day. One or two showers further east as well, but actually it's towards the east where
01:12it's going to mostly stay dry and bright, albeit with more cloud in the sky compared
01:16with recent days. Still warm, still the mid to high teens, possible 20C if we get enough
01:22sunshine and the wind eases off, but it will be a blustery day compared with recent days.
01:28That wind's strongest over parts of Scotland, particularly towards the north-east of Scotland
01:32overnight and that's when it really turns much more unsettled, much more widely. These
01:36spells of rain that are confined to the west through Friday move their way eastwards and
01:40there'll be some heavy and persistent downpours as well. That means of course it's going to
01:45be a mild start to Saturday, double figures for many of us, but it is going to be a wet
01:50start. Now, the wettest weather on Saturday, at least the most persistent rain will be
01:54across Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland. There'll also be spells of rain moving through
01:59central parts of England into the north of England. Further south, brighter skies, but
02:02also slow-moving heavy downpours. These could be quite nasty and they could last for some
02:08time if you're caught in one. So, those will be hit and miss. In between the showers, still
02:12some warmth, 15, 16 Celsius, but nowhere near as warm as it's been on Thursday and
02:19feeling decidedly cool there for western Scotland and Northern Ireland under the persistent
02:23rain. Then into Sunday, well, the most unsettled weather starts to move eastwards, still a
02:30cloudy day with rain or showers, but gradually turning a little more settled once again into
02:35the start of next week, particularly in the south.
