00:00:00Fly like a butterfly and warm your wings in the summer sun.
00:00:06Would you like to fly like a butterfly and visit all the flowers in the garden?
00:00:17Oh, caterpillar, what are you doing now?
00:00:21You're all wrapped up and you're hanging upside down.
00:00:24Time goes by, then you come out to fly.
00:00:28You're a butterfly now, you're not a caterpillar.
00:00:36Now you can fly, you're a butterfly.
00:00:41Warm your wings in the summer sun, you can fly.
00:00:46You're a butterfly and visit all the flowers in the garden.
00:00:53That was great storytelling.
00:00:56And listen to that applause.
00:00:58You better take a bow.
00:01:06Well, it's time to go now, so let's take things easy.
00:01:09Let's stretch out our wings in the sun.
00:01:13Take a deep breath in.
00:01:15And blow up a big ball.
00:01:19You were great today, by the way.
00:01:36You were great today, by the way.
00:01:48So come back and boogie with us again soon.
00:01:51Bye.
00:01:51Are they here yet?
00:01:56See, babies, it's nuts about spotting signs of autumn.
00:02:00With the boys and girls coming to see us, there's so much to get ready.
00:02:03Are they here yet?
00:02:05Edge hawks and eyes and beautiful leaves.
00:02:09We've gone away.
00:02:11These mushrooms.
00:02:12Oh, and nuts.
00:02:14I love nuts.
00:02:15Are they he-
00:02:16Don't badger me.
00:02:17Oh, let's just shake.
00:02:18Natural.
00:02:19Join in the event of the season, Autumn Watch, weekdays from 7.30 on CBeebies.
00:02:26Grown-ups go to bbc.co.uk slash cbb slash grown-ups to get PC Plum's free spotter text
00:02:31alerts to help your little ones get spotting this autumn.
00:02:35Come and take a look at what I found over here.
00:02:37Lots of pictures.
00:02:39There's an airplane, some cars, a boat, and they're all different shapes and sizes, and
00:02:47they are our speedy bb's.
00:02:50And look here, this is Poi's picture of her speedy bb.
00:02:54She's drawn an outline of a train, and then she's cut around the outline and decorated it
00:03:01with lots of little pieces of tissue paper.
00:03:03I think it looks brilliant.
00:03:04But we need you to send in your speedy bb's.
00:03:09So you may need a grown-up to help you draw the outline, and then you can decorate your
00:03:13picture as you wish.
00:03:16After you've done that, ask the grown-up to cut the outline for you before you send it
00:03:21in so it looks like this.
00:03:25Remember to write your name, address, and age on the back and send it in to
00:03:29speedy bb's, cbb's, PO Box 1234, London W12, 6WX.
00:03:34So come on then, send in your speedy bb's.
00:03:37Do you know which one of these animals makes its home in the soil?
00:03:43Is it a butterfly, a bee, or a worm?

00:06:11Go nuts for Autumn Watch next on CBeebies on BBC2.
00:06:16Hi, welcome to CBeebies. Let's take a look at what they're all doing, shall we?
00:06:21Wow, got any good ones, Lola?
00:06:25Charlie and Lola, weekdays at 4pm on CBeebies. A whole world of fun and learning.
00:06:30It's time for Leafy Lucky Dip.
00:06:45Oh, Autumn Watch will be here in a moment, but I wonder what we'll see.
00:06:50Let's find a clue in our tree stump.
00:06:53Oh, I can feel something.
00:06:56It's got a round back and a beak.
00:06:59Oh, and I think it's got wings too.
00:07:03Look, it's a duck.
00:07:05Hello. Hello, Chris. Hello, everyone.
00:07:10Oh, it's so exciting because of CBeebies Autumn Watch.
00:07:14Oh, and I've got a new friend for you to meet.
00:07:17But first, run titles.
00:07:19Oh, we'reusa-yells.
00:07:21Ok.
00:07:22I've got goals.
00:07:23Huh.
00:07:36Ooh.
00:07:38Ooh.
00:07:39Ooh.
00:07:41Ooh.
00:07:43Ooh.
00:07:46Ooh.
00:07:47Ooh.
00:07:48Ooh.
00:07:49What?
00:07:49Hello! Welcome to Sea Beebe's Autumn Watch.
00:08:00Yes, this is who I was telling you about. This is Mike.
00:08:03Hi, everyone.
00:08:04Yes, and Mike knows everything about nature, don't you?
00:08:07Well, I don't know everything, Shelley.
00:08:09He doesn't.
00:08:09But I do love wildlife.
00:08:12And I work as a nature presenter for grown-up TV.
00:08:15Yes, so you see, Mike is the perfect person to have here at the mill.
00:08:18And it's such great news. We're going to be here every day for the next two weeks.
00:08:23Yes, so what have we got coming up in today's show?
00:08:26Well, Shelley, we've got all of your favourites and a few new things, too.
00:08:30Yes.
00:08:32Jackson and the nature detectives will be looking for signs of autumn.
00:08:38Simon is on the trail of our spring watch swallows,
00:08:41who have made a bit of a journey since we last saw them.
00:08:45We'll be dropping in on Chuck, the park keeper,
00:08:48over at Giggleswick Park.
00:08:51And we'll be meeting some baby seals
00:08:53in the first episode of our grey seal diary.
00:08:58And Sienna is back with our great new autumn watch song.
00:09:02Welcome, everybody.
00:09:04Welcome, time to party.
00:09:06Welcome, everybody.
00:09:08Welcome to the autumn harvest.
00:09:10And will there be someone hiding in the hive?
00:09:13Of course.
00:09:14Well, who is it, then?
00:09:15Well, it's...
00:09:16Jelly, you can't catch me out.
00:09:19I'm not going to tell you.
00:09:20Oh, Michael, you can give me a little clue.
00:09:23No, I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait.
00:09:26But anyway, do you know what an eco school is?
00:09:29Oh, yes.
00:09:30An eco school is where they look after the wildlife.
00:09:34We saw one in spring watch.
00:09:36And they planted seeds.
00:09:38And they made a home for bugs.
00:09:40Well remembered.
00:09:42Yes.
00:09:42I wonder if the seeds grew.
00:09:44I'll tell you what.
00:09:45Why don't we have a look?
00:09:47Yes.
00:09:47What's in your patch?
00:10:00Welcome back to Woodhays Primary School.
00:10:04Quite a lot has changed around here since your last visit.
00:10:09Come and see.
00:10:12Do you remember our wildlife garden?
00:10:15And what things looked like in spring.
00:10:19The garden was all new.
00:10:22With tiny buds.
00:10:25We planted seeds.
00:10:27And had lots of plants.
00:10:30And we were waiting for things to grow.
00:10:36But now look at it.
00:10:39It's grown so much.
00:10:41The area that we have planted seeds has lots and lots of flowers.
00:10:51The blue ones are called cornflowers.
00:10:54But the red ones are poppies.
00:11:01Their petals are really thin.
00:11:05And if you feel them gently, they're all papery.
00:11:09And look at the different types of grasses.
00:11:15There are thin ones.
00:11:17And fluffy ones.
00:11:21And really, really long ones.
00:11:24Our plant has grown some tall reeds.
00:11:34All our hawthorn has grown lots and lots.
00:11:39The buds burst and leaves grow.
00:11:42It's all bushy now.
00:11:44And look here.
00:11:48Berries are starting to grow.
00:11:51They are hawthorn berries.
00:11:54We've got some other things since your last visit.
00:11:59This is our wormery.
00:12:01It has worms.
00:12:02You put old vegetable peelings in it.
00:12:08And the worms eat them up.
00:12:11And they poo it out.
00:12:13And that makes compost.
00:12:16That's the brown stuff like earth.
00:12:19And at the bottom there is a tap.
00:12:22And when you turn it, all the worm wee comes out.
00:12:26You can use it to water your garden.
00:12:30And it's very good for the plants.
00:12:38So our wildlife garden has grown up lots.
00:12:41And we're really proud of it.
00:12:44Hopefully, we'll get even more wildlife.
00:12:48Thanks for coming to see what's in our patch.
00:12:51Bye bye!
00:12:52I'm so glad you're here, Mike.
00:12:57So am I.
00:12:58This is so much to see.
00:12:59I tell you what, Jelly, why don't you take me or show everybody around the mill?
00:13:03Oh, yes, that's a good idea.
00:13:05We can start here, actually, because this is the old mill wheel.
00:13:09Isn't it wonderful?
00:13:10But look at this plant that's growing up all over it.
00:13:14Do you know what this is, Jelly?
00:13:15No.
00:13:16Well, it's called ivy.
00:13:17And it's a fantastic autumn plant.
00:13:20Because usually, at this time of the year, it has flowers.
00:13:24And they attract loads of insects, like hoverflies and bees.
00:13:28Oh, wow.
00:13:29So, what next?
00:13:31Um, come this way.
00:13:33Okay.
00:13:37Right behind you.
00:13:38Yes.
00:13:39There's so much to see.
00:13:41Looks like it.
00:13:42And this is the bridge to our island.
00:13:48Yay, we're surrounded by the pond, aren't we?
00:13:51Yes.
00:13:52But, Jelly, have a look on top.
00:13:53What can you see of the water?
00:13:55Um, oh, insects.
00:13:57Absolutely.
00:13:58What do you think they're doing?
00:13:59They're skating.
00:14:01That is right.
00:14:02They're pond skaters.
00:14:03Wow.
00:14:03And what they do is they whiz around the water, looking for any small, tiny fly or other insect that's dropped in.
00:14:11And when they catch them, they gobble them up.
00:14:13I hope I didn't fall in the water.
00:14:16Well, I think somehow you're probably a little bit too big, Jelly.
00:14:19So, they wouldn't be interested in you.
00:14:21Hey, what do you say we go and find something else?
00:14:23Okay.
00:14:23Hey, Jelly, have a look at these.
00:14:35What?
00:14:35Oh, no, we don't want to look at those, Mike.
00:14:37Those are stinging nettles.
00:14:38Yes, you do.
00:14:39Come back, come back.
00:14:40What?
00:14:40These may be stinging to us, but to butterflies, they're wonderful.
00:14:45The peacock butterfly with its big eyes loves laying eggs on this.
00:14:49And what about painted ladies like the ones I grew in Spring Watch?
00:14:52Well, painted ladies lay their eggs on a different plant, but they are flying at this time of year.
00:14:56Oh.
00:14:57But back to the peacocks, once they put the eggs on the leaves, they hatch into caterpillars.
00:15:02Oh.
00:15:02And then the caterpillars munch away at the leaves.
00:15:05Isn't that great?
00:15:06Yummy, yummy, yummy.
00:15:06It's in the stinging nettles.
00:15:08It's a great wildlife plant.
00:15:09Yes, we've got something else you can eat in the garden.
00:15:12Come and look.
00:15:13Okay.
00:15:17This is our apple tree.
00:15:18And in the spring, it had lots of beautiful blossom.
00:15:21And now it's got apples.
00:15:23It's amazing, isn't it?
00:15:25Yeah.
00:15:25What happens is, the blossom dies back.
00:15:27And inside the centre of the flower, a little apple forms.
00:15:31And it grows and grows, getting bigger and bigger throughout summer, until the autumn like
00:15:35this, when they're lovely, juicy and ripe.
00:15:38I'll tell you what, why don't we have this later?
00:15:40Okay, come on.
00:15:41And over here, we've got our nest box.
00:15:46And in springtime, we had a family of baby great tits nesting in there.
00:15:51Where do you think they've gone now, Mike?
00:15:54Well, they haven't gone far at all, Jelly.
00:15:55They're probably feeding the woods all around, so not far at all from where they hatched.
00:15:59But that's very different to Simon's swallows.
00:16:03They've gone a long way.
00:16:05Yes, yes, because we saw them in Springwatch.
00:16:08And Bill Oddy said that they go all the way to Africa in the autumn.
00:16:12But, Mike, is Simon in Africa?
00:16:16I'll tell you what.
00:16:17Let's have a look.
00:16:18Hello, Simon.
00:16:20Hello, Jelly.
00:16:20Here they go.
00:16:23These are European swallows.
00:16:25I'm not, however, in Europe.
00:16:28I'm not in the UK.
00:16:29I'm in the Masai Mara in Kenya.
00:16:43And these are the first migrating swallows to come down through Kenya on their way south
00:16:49to southern Africa.
00:16:51So nice to be joined by old friends like this
00:16:55and to watch their behavior in their wintering grounds.
00:17:00They're not just following me because they're fond of cars.
00:17:03They're doing so because the vehicle is disturbing flying insects and other bugs from the long grass
00:17:08and they can make the most of the opportunity.
00:17:11But, of course, they haven't developed this behavior to follow cars.
00:17:14That's a very recent innovation.
00:17:15They're much more at home following around behind elephants and rhino and other game,
00:17:21which is kicking up an opportunity to get a meal.
00:17:24These swallows are already the successful ones.
00:17:29They've managed to cross the great Sahara Desert,
00:17:32perhaps the most challenging leg of their epic journey south for the winter.
00:17:36In the desert, there's very little for them to feed on, very little opportunity to stock up.
00:17:41And so each and every one of these birds is pretty hungry.
00:17:46We think of them as this beautiful little harbinger of spring,
00:17:50a character that is at home in the cow sheds and the farmsteads of England.
00:17:54But they are just as much at home here in the savannahs of Africa.
00:18:01And they spend at least half their lives in this sort of habitat.
00:18:05It makes you appreciate the swallow in a whole new light.
00:18:09Jilly, Jilly, come in please, Jilly.
00:18:27Oh, hi, Ninja Detective Jackson.
00:18:29Are you excited?
00:18:30It's autumn.
00:18:32Well, yes, Jilly, I am very excited because I have a new detective headquarters.
00:18:37It's a tree house and I've got lots of new detectives ready to complete Autumn Watch missions.
00:18:45And I can call them up here on my new spider's webcam.
00:18:50Oh, wow, Jackson.
00:18:51So what's your first mission?
00:18:53Well, detecting signs of autumn, of course.
00:18:57Yes, of course.
00:18:59Nature Detectives.
00:19:10Come on, Nature Detectives.
00:19:12Hello.
00:19:13Hello.
00:19:14Now, today's Nature Detectives are Abdullah, Kirstie, and Sunil, and Manisha.
00:19:25Hello.
00:19:26Hello.
00:19:26Now, today I am sending you all on an autumn treasure hunt.
00:19:31You need to solve the clues to find out what signs of autumn you should be spotting.
00:19:37And I've sent Nature Chris, a top Nature Detective, to help with your treasure hunt.
00:19:43Now, here is your first clue.
00:19:46You'll find the spiky cases on the ground, inside the smooth and brown and round.
00:19:54Conkers!
00:19:55Conkers!
00:19:56We're going to find some.
00:19:57Yeah!
00:19:58Nature Hots!
00:19:59We're looking out for nature.
00:20:01Nature Hots!
00:20:02What will we see?
00:20:04Nature Hots!
00:20:05Conkers grow on a horse Tessna trees.
00:20:08They are the tree's seeds.
00:20:10What does it feel like, Monique?
00:20:11Oh, impressive.
00:20:12It feels quite tricky.
00:20:14A porgy boy!
00:20:15And what's inside them, then?
00:20:17What do we think's inside them?
00:20:18What do conkers look like?
00:20:20They're brown.
00:20:21Should we try and crack some of these open?
00:20:22Okay.
00:20:26They have green spiky cases to protect the big brown seeds inside.
00:20:32It feels really smooth.
00:20:34It feels like rubber.
00:20:36Here's your next clue.
00:20:38They grow on the ground or on old trees.
00:20:41They can be poisonous, so don't touch, please.
00:20:44Mushrooms.
00:20:46Mushrooms.
00:20:47Do we all think mushrooms?
00:20:48Mushrooms.
00:20:48Should we try and find some, then?
00:20:50Yeah.
00:20:50Go on.
00:20:51Let's try this way.
00:20:52Let's go this way.
00:20:54I found some mushrooms.
00:20:56Mushrooms!
00:20:57They look like crisps.
00:20:59They look like wings.
00:21:00Well done.
00:21:02Now, see if you can guess this one.
00:21:04They're sweet and juicy and rather sticky.
00:21:07But be careful because their branches are prickly.
00:21:10Berries!
00:21:11Blackberries!
00:21:12Blackberries!
00:21:12Blackberries!
00:21:13Blackberries!
00:21:14Right, should we go and find some blackberries?
00:21:16Yeah!
00:21:18In autumn, there are loads of berries on the trees and bushes.
00:21:21These are blackberries.
00:21:22They're really yummy.
00:21:23Are you going to eat them?
00:21:26What do they taste like?
00:21:27Leaves.
00:21:29Sour, this one.
00:21:31Mmm, yummy!
00:21:32They look scummy.
00:21:34Okay, here's your last clue.
00:21:36In summer, they're green and blowing the breeze.
00:21:39In autumn, they change colour and fall off the trees.
00:21:43Leaves!
00:21:44Leaves.
00:21:45Let's go and find some leaves, then.
00:21:46This way, go.
00:21:47They're leaving.
00:21:50In autumn, the leaves change colour and fall to the ground.
00:21:54They're very fun to kick and throw around.
00:21:57Five, four, three, two, one, go!
00:22:03Damn, that looks like fun.
00:22:05So today, the nature detectives found lots of signs of autumn.
00:22:10They found conchers, mushrooms, blackberries and brown leaves.
00:22:17So why don't you go and see what signs of autumn you can detect?
00:22:21Mission complete!
00:22:23Over and out!
00:22:26Why do we see so many spiders' webs in autumn?
00:22:30Well, a spider's attitude to life is generally live fast, die young.
00:22:34The female won't survive the winter,
00:22:36so she's going to have to lay as many eggs as she can before the weather closes in.
00:22:40And this takes a lot of energy, so she needs a lot of food,
00:22:44and hence she spins a lot of webs to catch it.
00:22:47And you'll see them all over the hedgerows and the gardens in autumn.
00:22:52And don't they look fabulous, especially spangled by the morning dew?
00:22:56Don't forget, there's loads of nature for you to spot all around and wherever you live.
00:23:05Yes, and you can join the PC Plum Spotters Club like I did.
00:23:09And how do you do that then, Shelley?
00:23:11Well, you go onto the CBeebies' Autumn Watch website.
00:23:14So you do.
00:23:15Hey, look!
00:23:16Yes.
00:23:16There's you!
00:23:17Yes, and if you click on PC Plum, that takes you to the Spotters Club.
00:23:22Oh, you can see all the spots of the day.
00:23:24Yes.
00:23:25And today's spot is the conker.
00:23:27Yes, so if you spot a conker, you can go onto the website and tell PC Plum about it.
00:23:32And then you can get your own very special membership card like you've got here, Shelley.
00:23:37Yes, and you can put a photo of yourself like I did and write your name.
00:23:42I think you look great on that, Shelley.
00:23:44Yes, and you can join the Spotters Club too, Mike, because you're a good spotter.
00:23:48Do you know what?
00:23:49What?
00:23:49I would love to.
00:23:50But hey, haven't we got a programme to make?
00:23:53Oh, yes, well, what's next?
00:23:55Well, this is the first of Gordon's trips to the Monoc Isles.
00:23:58Oh, well, where's that?
00:24:00Right, imagine you're England.
00:24:02Yeah?
00:24:02Scotland is above your head.
00:24:04Right.
00:24:04And right out here are a bunch of isles called the Monoc Isles.
00:24:07Near Balamore?
00:24:08Not far, but a bit further out and a bit further up.
00:24:12Up.
00:24:12OK, well, what happens there?
00:24:14Well, every autumn time something rather special happens.
00:24:18Oh.
00:24:19Shall we have a look?
00:24:20Yes.
00:24:21Rayseal Diary.
00:24:23At the start of October, about 30,000 grey seals emerge out of the sea.
00:24:42The island's become the biggest seal breeding colony in Europe.
00:24:46Over 8,000 pups are born here every year.
00:24:49I've got two weeks to get to know these islands.
00:24:54But the challenge for me is to see how close I can get to one of the breeding beaches.
00:25:04Just look at that.
00:25:06Thousands of seals.
00:25:08And this is just one beach of many.
00:25:11Amazing to think that this is right on our doorstep in the UK.
00:25:14So, how close will they let me get?
00:25:22Remember, these seals never see people out here.
00:25:33Either this one doesn't know that I'm here,
00:25:34or it's just completely comfortable and just doesn't care.
00:25:38It's quite early in the season,
00:25:46but lots of females have already arrived and had their pups.
00:25:50This mum has a big spot on the end of the nose.
00:25:53She'll be easy to recognise.
00:25:56Nice, plump-looking pup.
00:25:58Maybe a week old?
00:26:00I can't wait to see how he gets on over the next couple of weeks.
00:26:03It's a good old drink puck.
00:26:18Are you enjoying that drink tuck?
00:26:27Oh, the flower's fristy too.
00:26:29The flowers don't want to drink like that, do they?
00:26:37Oh, yeah.
00:26:39Oh, yeah.
00:26:40Do it.
00:26:44Oh, yeah.
00:26:45Oh, do it.
00:26:51Oh, do it.
00:26:52You want to be the one?
00:26:54I love you so.
00:26:55Oh, yeah.
00:26:56Oh, yeah.
00:26:56Oh, yeah.
00:26:57Oh, yeah.
00:26:58Oh, yeah.
00:26:58Oh, yeah.
00:26:59Oh, yeah.
00:26:59Oh, yeah.
00:27:02Oh, yeah.
00:27:06Oh, yeah.
00:27:28Oh, yeah.
00:27:29Where is the shed going?
00:27:59Oh dear Chuck, it looks like you need a new watering can
00:28:18I love that Chuck!
00:28:47He's so funny!
00:28:50He's great isn't he?
00:28:51You know what Jelly?
00:28:52What?
00:28:53He'll be back tomorrow!
00:28:54Oh good!
00:28:55And you know I also loved that little baby Seal before, he was so sweet!
00:28:59Oh it's wonderful when they're just newborn because they're always that lovely snowy white
00:29:04colour!
00:29:05Actually can I call him Snowy?
00:29:07Of course you can!
00:29:08Oh!
00:29:09Do you know what time it is?
00:29:10What?
00:29:11It's time for Who's Hiding in the Hide!
00:29:17Who's Hiding in the Hide!
00:29:27It's Spencer from Ballamory!
00:29:29Hi guys!
00:29:30Hello Spencer!

00:29:39That's great because I love singing!
00:29:41Oh me too!
00:29:42And to help us with our singing, I made some musical instruments from the things you can
00:29:46find in your garden this time of year!
00:29:47Oh that's a great idea!
00:29:49Like what?
00:29:50Well, like these conkers!

00:31:51In the meantime, would you like to see what we've got in store for tomorrow? Yes, please. Yes.
00:31:54Tia will be showing us what's growing in her patch, whilst the nature detectives will be looking for seeds in the garden.
00:32:05And we'll be finding out why autumn is a great time for a walk in the woods.
00:32:09Yes, and we'll be seeing what happens when I went birdwatching with Bill Oddy.
00:32:13So that's loads to look forward to. But now, get ready to boogie.

00:42:00Do I go right?
00:42:02Which way is wrong now?
00:42:04Which way is right?
00:42:06Right!
00:42:07Okay, that way
00:42:08To the bus depot
00:42:09I'm on my way
00:42:11To work today
00:42:13Looking this way
00:42:16And that old way
00:42:17Oh, hello digger
00:42:19Hello drain

00:42:30Do I go up now?
00:42:41Do I go down?
00:42:43Which way is a smile now?
00:42:45Which way is a frown?
00:42:47Up
00:42:47Okay, that way
00:42:48Up the steps
00:42:49You told me the way I go
00:42:53Thank you
00:42:54You showed me the way I know
00:42:57Thanks for helping me get to work
00:43:00But now I've got to get busy
00:43:02Yep
00:43:03It's time to change into my work clothes
00:43:05All dressed and ready to go
00:43:13Yes
00:43:16And River Seas star striker Kai has the ball
00:43:19It's the last minute of extra time
00:43:21And he's passed one defender
00:43:22And he dribbles beautifully past the next
00:43:24And he's coming in for a shot
00:43:25And
00:43:26Goal!
00:43:28Goal, goal, goal
00:43:29Hello you two
00:43:31Hi Bobby
00:43:33What's all this?
00:43:35Wow, a box of fruit and loads of decorations
00:43:37How exciting
00:43:38Where should we put it?
00:43:40Here, let me, Rudy
00:43:41So, is someone having a surprise party?
00:43:44Oh no, no, it's for tomorrow's special fruit promotion
00:43:46Don't you know about it?
00:43:49No
00:43:49This is the first I've heard about it
00:43:51Dr Juno and I are turning one of your city buses into a fruit bus for the day
00:43:54We're going to cover it with banners and stickers
00:43:56And all about healthy eating
00:43:57Give out fresh pieces of fruit to all of the passengers
00:44:00Wow, that sounds like a really great idea, Rudy
00:44:02Hang on
00:44:03The depot manager usually sends me memos about things like this
00:44:07Oh, here it is
00:44:11Dear Bobby
00:44:12Dr Juno and Rudy will be coming in tonight to convert one of our city buses into a special
00:44:17fruit bus
00:44:18Please give them any help that you can
00:44:20I'm sorry, Rudy
00:44:21Hey, don't worry about it
00:44:23We're just dropping off the fruit
00:44:24Dr Juno will be along later to do all the hard work
00:44:27That's us off, Bobby
00:44:28OK, bye!
00:44:29Bye!
00:44:31I wonder how my little footballers get in on at Granny Murray's
00:44:34Right, it's penalty shootout time
00:44:51Oh, I knew it isn't
00:44:52Oh, yes, it is in Granny Murray's diner
00:44:55Now, who do you want to be?
00:44:57A bit of celery or do you want to be a carrot man?
00:45:00Carrot man
00:45:00Are we ready?
00:45:01OK, Granny Murray goals for goal
00:45:03She shoots
00:45:04She...
00:45:06Oh, no!
00:45:07It was saved by Mr. Carrot
00:45:08OK, it's your turn
00:45:10Can you...
00:45:11Woo-hoo!
00:45:12Oh, you've got it
00:45:14Oh, no!
00:45:15We've lost the ball
00:45:16What'll we use?
00:45:17Would you like to use that, darling?
00:45:19Yeah
00:45:19Well, I don't know if you'll score with that right enough
00:45:21Woo-hoo!
00:45:23Yes, it works!
00:45:24He scores!
00:45:25He-he-he
00:45:26Whoa, look at this, Kai!
00:45:28He-he-he
00:45:28I knew your mum's socks would come in handy
00:45:31I'd love to skip in Riverside Bingle
00:45:36Riverside Bingle
00:45:37By the sea
00:45:38I'd love to skip in Riverside Bingle
00:45:41Riverside Bingle
00:45:42That's for me
00:45:43Are you cleaning all the buses?
00:45:45Hello, Dr. Gino
00:45:46Are you chalk?
00:45:47I wasn't expecting to see you
00:45:49I've been calling for emergency bus decorating duty
00:45:51I've had to cover a nice shift at the hospital
00:45:53So Chuck's got to be in charge of decorating the fruit bus
00:45:56Hang on a sec
00:45:57Right
00:45:58Ah, yes
00:46:02You're on bus number 72
00:46:04That's the one that goes all over the city
00:46:06Who's the bus driver going to be?
00:46:08Erm
00:46:08Oh, great
00:46:10It's Jim
00:46:10He's going to love driving this bus
00:46:12He's really into keeping fit and healthy
00:46:14I've written a little rhyme for him to say to the children
00:46:17As they board the bus
00:46:18Hey, diddle, diddle
00:46:19Be fit as a fiddle
00:46:20Orange is a juicy and cool
00:46:22Apples and pears
00:46:23Help you run up the stairs
00:46:24Eat bananas
00:46:25Jump high as the moon
00:46:26Nice one, Doc
00:46:27I'm going to put it in my pocket to keep it safe
00:46:29I'm glad you like it
00:46:31I've got a break at ten o'clock
00:46:32So I'll pop back then to see how the decorating's going
00:46:34I'm sure you do a fine job
00:46:36You can rely on us, Doc
00:46:37Have a good shift, Dr. Gino
00:46:38Thanks, bye
00:46:39Bye
00:46:40Where's number 72 Park, Bobby?
00:46:42I'd better get started
00:46:43It's this one right here
00:46:45Right, well I've got a lot to do before I'll be able to help
00:46:49Chuck, I'd better get on with my work
00:46:50Goofy woogies as she cleans and mops the buses
00:46:53Sponging with her squeegee sweeping rubbish with her brushes
00:46:56Polishing the hubcaps with her bright yellow cloth
00:47:02Bright and beaming bosses
00:47:07Bye bye soon
00:47:10Cleaning while you're dreaming
00:47:14Making ready while you're in bed
00:47:18Gleaming while you're sleeping
00:47:22Dawn by dawn
00:47:25Lining up all shining
00:47:30They'll be leaving for the day ahead
00:47:35Ready to dazzle the day away
00:47:40Swinging to the city looking pretty and radiant
00:47:42The headlights shine, the windows look fine
00:47:45Tip top topper of the river sea line
00:47:48The driver she drives, collecting the fares
00:47:51Leaving then arriving, she will get you there
00:47:53This bus is stopping what you're thinking of putting down
00:47:56This bus is shining, it's the talk of the town
00:47:59Boppy boogie woogie's flipping over, flipping under
00:48:04Running round and scrubbing up, she really is a wonder
00:48:07Brightening up the paintwork with her wet soapy sponge
00:48:12Boppy shimmy shimmy's as she sharpens up the windows
00:48:15Wiping to and fro then down below for fun chillin' bows
00:48:18Polishing the buses
00:48:20So they'll all be gleaming
00:48:22For the day ahead
00:48:26Oh, wow! Looks like a cross between Rudy's stall and the jungle
00:48:33You've done a fantastic job, Chuck
00:48:35I'm exhausted
00:48:37Oh no! I forgot to put these fruity stickers on the outside of the bus
00:48:47It's nearly ten o'clock
00:48:49Dr Gin will be here soon
00:48:50I'll never get this up before she gets here
00:48:53Don't worry, I'll do it
00:48:54I've still got loads of energy
00:48:56I'll have it done in no time
00:48:57Oh, thank you, Bobby, you're a star
00:48:59Hey, diddle, diddle
00:49:02Be as fit as a fiddle
00:49:04Oranges are juicy and cool
00:49:07Apples and pears help you run up the stairs
00:49:11Eat bananas and jump as high as their moon
00:49:13Now it's me who's exhausted
00:49:18Oh, I wonder how my Kai's getting on
00:49:22I wonder if he's managed to settle down after his exciting day
00:49:25OK, Kai, see if you can guess this one
00:49:35Ready?
00:49:37Whee!
00:49:38I think it's golf
00:49:40Yay, it's golf
00:49:41Put the golf one in then
00:49:43Oh, there's the golf ball
00:49:45Right, what's this one?
00:49:48This one
00:49:50Yay, rugby
00:49:51Good boy
00:49:53Ready
00:49:54Goal
00:49:56Yes, clever boy
00:50:00Well, you look at Granny Murray's socks
00:50:02Aren't they funny?
00:50:05I think your mum would like these socks, wouldn't she?
00:50:14I'm thinking of you, Mummy
00:50:16My word, well done
00:50:20This looks more like a tropical island than a bus
00:50:23People won't want to get off
00:50:24I told you you can rely on our stock
00:50:26But I'm not sure about the stickers outside
00:50:29They don't look quite like I expected
00:50:31The fruit doesn't look very healthy
00:50:33They don't look very healthy, do they?
00:50:45They haven't got their beautiful colours
00:50:47How did this happen?
00:50:48The fruit bus was looking fantastic until I put them stickers on
00:50:52What did I do wrong?
00:50:55Where did the time go?
00:50:57At six o'clock
00:50:59I took Kai to Granny Murray's
00:51:01And the children dressed Claude as a goalkeeper
00:51:03To celebrate Kai's winning goal for Riversy Fingal Juniors
00:51:06I showed Granny Murray a pair of gloves I'd bought in the Nicholson sale
00:51:09I felt so silly when they turned out to be socks
00:51:12At seven o'clock, I arrived at work
00:51:15I was still really excited about Kai's winning goal
00:51:18I pretended to play football
00:51:20Rudy and Louis arrived with the fruit and the decorations for their special fruit bus
00:51:24At eight o'clock, Dr Juno and Chuck arrived
00:51:28Dr Juno gave me a special fruity rhyme for the driver
00:51:31And then went off on her night shift
00:51:33Leaving Chuck in charge of decorating the fruit bus
00:51:35At ten o'clock, I went to help Chuck
00:51:38She'd done a fantastic job on her own
00:51:41But she realised she'd forgotten to put the stickers on the outside of the bus
00:51:44She was tired from all her hard work
00:51:46So I said that I'd stick them on for her
00:51:48But I was in such a hurry to get them up before Dr Juno arrived
00:51:51I didn't concentrate on what I was doing
00:51:53At eleven o'clock, when Dr Juno turned up
00:51:56She couldn't tell which fruit was which
00:51:58Now remember, there's always more than meets the eye
00:52:03There's always more than meets the eye
00:52:07I know just how to get this fruit looking nice and healthy
00:52:11Come on, it's a race against time
00:52:13I've got to do it, I've got to do it
00:52:17I've got to beat the clock before the chime
00:52:19I've got to sort it, I've got to sort it
00:52:21I've got to do the job on time
00:52:23Like a busy bee, I'm going to beat that bomb
00:52:25I've got to finish this job before you finish that song
00:52:27I've got to do it, I've got to do it
00:52:35I've got to beat the clock before the chime
00:52:37I've got to sort it, I've got to sort it
00:52:39I've got to do the job on time
00:52:41Like a busy bee, I'm going to beat that bomb
00:52:43I've got to finish this job before you finish that song
00:52:45It was my fault, Dr Juno
00:53:01I was in such a hurry to put the stickers up
00:53:03That I stuck them on the wrong way round
00:53:05I certainly won't be making that mistake again
00:53:07It's easy to see that Bob eats a lot of fruit
00:53:11It certainly is, she's as bendy as a banana
00:53:14No wonder Kai's such a good footballer
00:53:16Goal!
00:53:26I missed you, Mummy
00:53:28Your mum's here, Kai
00:53:40Hiya, Kai
00:53:42Oh, you look like you've had a smashing time
00:53:47Oh, we sure have
00:53:49Are you going to say thanks to Granny Murray?
00:53:51Thank you, Granny Murray
00:53:52Clever boy
00:53:53And thanks from me too, Granny Murray
00:53:57I remembered what you said
00:53:58There's always more than meets the eye
00:54:01It saved the day
00:54:02It never did
00:54:04Come on, you'd better be off
00:54:07Come on, you
00:54:07Looking forward to next time
00:54:11Me too
00:54:12Right, come on, Twinkle
00:54:14Let's talk about our time away
00:54:16And I suppose you'll want to know all about my time too
00:54:22Well, there was
00:54:25Hacking, squishing, walking, pushing
00:54:27Tancing, dusting, sharing, choosing, talking, cooking
00:54:29Drying, cleaning, saving, cleaning, laughing, joking
00:54:31Using things and rushing round
00:54:34Dressing up and sitting down
00:54:36But what was really special about today?
00:54:41Well, the children dressed Claude as a goalkeeper to celebrate Kai's goal
00:54:48Bobby thought she'd bought a pair of trendy gloves
00:54:51But when she realised they were actually socks
00:54:53She gave them to me as a present
00:54:55At tea time, Kai and I played tabletop football with celery and carrots
00:55:01And I caught the second one between the toes of my new socks
00:55:04Just before he went to sleep
00:55:06Kai and I played a wooden shape-fitting game
00:55:09He was doing this at the same time
00:55:11As Bobby was trying to fit together the stickers on the fruit bus
00:55:15I hope you enjoyed yourself
00:55:17Me too
00:55:19Bye-bye, honey pie
00:55:21I love to skip in river sea things
00:55:25Oh, river sea things
00:55:26Oh, that's for me
00:55:32Come on and get on down to the city
00:55:34Where the fairy books there for blue
00:55:37Time to call on Granny Marie
00:55:39She'd love to say goodbye to you
00:55:44Me too
00:55:47Next, Gordon the Garden Gnome
00:55:52Geranium
00:55:54Here on CBeebies on BBC Two
00:55:58Hi, welcome to CBeebies
00:56:01Let's take a look at what they're all doing, shall we?
00:56:05Wow
00:56:06Got any good ones, Lola?
00:56:09Charlie and Lola, weekdays at 4pm on CBeebies
00:56:12A whole world of fun and learning
00:56:14The letter F
00:56:17F
00:56:18F is for
00:56:19Fly
00:56:23A fantastic fly who flees
00:56:27And
00:56:30A frog from afar
00:56:32The frog finds a fuzzy feather
00:56:39It's funny
00:56:43The letter F
00:56:46The letter F
00:56:46Busy, busy, busy
00:56:52No time to waste today
00:56:53We're off to dig the garden
00:56:55And clear the weeds away
00:56:57Let's get Mucky
00:56:59Put your puddle busters on
00:57:01It's Gordon the Garden Gnome
00:57:04It was the first day of the Grand Meeting of the Gnome Council
00:57:16And my magic calendar reminded me that the Chief Gnome had put me in charge of all the arrangements
00:57:23I didn't want anything to go wrong
00:57:26What exactly happens at a Gnome Council meeting, Gordon?
00:57:30It's a very important occasion, Andrew
00:57:33The Gnome Council makes up all the rules for Gnomes
00:57:36Ooh!
00:57:37How do these look, Gordon?
00:57:39Perfect, Rosie
00:57:41Just perfect
00:57:42Are you sure it's okay to leave Meow at your house, Gordon?
00:57:47Of course, Sue Lee
00:57:49She'll be quite safe here with Rosie and Morris
00:57:51We'll play with her while you're at the big meeting
00:57:54Thank you so much, both of you
00:58:00We'd better be off
00:58:02Mustn't keep the Chief Gnome waiting
00:58:04That would never do
00:58:06Cue Gardens
00:58:08Good, good
00:58:21Excellent work, Gordon
00:58:23Thank you
00:58:32Why don't you join us for the opening session, Gordon?
00:58:35I'd like you to hear my opening speech
00:58:38Quite an event, you know
00:58:40Oh
00:58:41Sit down here, next to me
00:58:45Ooh!
00:58:48Ahem
00:58:49Ahem
00:58:50Ahem
00:58:57Huh?
00:58:58What did you say?
00:59:21I haven't the faintest idea, but it always seems to get a good clap
00:59:25Mark Rowling
00:59:26Smartelbast
00:59:28Flugelbiscuit
00:59:32What did he say?
00:59:33No idea, but he said it jolly well
00:59:37Excuse me, but can anyone understand what anyone else is saying?
00:59:42No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
00:59:45But that's the whole point of Gnomish, Gordon
00:59:47It is?
00:59:48Yes
00:59:49Yes
00:59:50You make it up as you go along
00:59:51Bargly-flown-boid-noily-bore
00:59:53Wonderful language
00:59:54You can be fluent in no time at all, halfly-riff-luff
00:59:57Go on, have a go
00:59:59No, I couldn't
01:00:00Go on
01:00:01You know you want to
01:00:03Yeah
01:00:04Go on, Gordon
01:00:05Well, just a small speech then
01:00:08That's the ticket
01:00:09That's the ticket
01:00:11Hmm
01:00:12Uh, bam
01:00:13No
01:00:14Barp
01:00:15Uh
01:00:16Er, barp
01:00:17Er, barp
01:00:18Barp fangle
01:00:19Todd hoddy flim ep xanvez in hapsian
01:00:22So hornic camsulant im quatort negel grint
01:00:26rent. Chief Gnome, please, just for today, can we speak normal? Yes, then we'll get everything
01:00:38done in no time at all. Well, if council members are sure. Best idea you've ever had, Chief
01:00:46Gnome. Very well then, Ormley Spadon feed. Our task today, Gordon, is to decide on the
01:00:53new sound for the gnome post. Huh? So that's why we're here? I know a field trial in your
01:01:03garden, Gordon. Good, good, thanks for volunteering. Come on then, come on. Oh, don't be frightened,
01:01:17come back. Rosie? Oh, Gordon, thank goodness. Meow has just run away. She was scared by
01:01:25a dog barking. Oh dear, that was me. What's going on? Oh, gnome post has gone haywire.
01:01:38The Chief Gnome's running an experiment. We have to decide which new gnome post sound
01:01:43we like the best. I'm fine. I'm fine. Couldn't resist trying that one out myself. Keep marking
01:01:55the sounds. Cue gardens. I like the Chief Gnome's sound. Ten points. We can't mark sounds now,
01:02:09Gordon. We've got to find Meow. She could be anywhere. I'll check the woods. We should
01:02:17listen out for her bell. Yes, good thinking, Andrew. Oh dear, dear. Meow. Too loud. Only two points,
01:02:29I think. How are we going to hear a tinkling bell with noises like that going on? Running about looking
01:02:38for a lost kitten isn't really a thing, is it, Des? Not at all, Des. In my view, we're better off
01:02:44staying in one place and seeing if she comes past. I suppose there'll be some sort of reward for
01:02:50finding her. Highly likely, I'd say. Hmm. I rather fancy a reward. Especially if it's for doing nothing.
01:02:59Meow. Meow. Meow. Meow. Oh, that wasn't very funny. Gordon, a tinkling bell. I think I can hear
01:03:09one in my garden. Jerome's right. Hooray. There it is again. Over there. By that tree. Meow. Meow.
01:03:23Meow. Oh, no. It's not Meow at all. Just another of the chief gnome's sounds. Well, no points for that one.
01:03:37Oh, Gordon. I couldn't find Meow. And the gnome council's here. Oh, dear. What shall I tell Sue Lee?
01:03:46Wonderful cabbages, you see? Entirely pest-free, of course. He never spoke a truer word.
01:03:55Any sign of the kitten, Les? Not a whisker. I can feel that reward slipping away, Des.
01:04:03Ah, Gordon. Good, good. We've come for the results of the test. Where is Meow, Gordon? How is my little darling?
01:04:12Ah, well, now, you see... Meow? We didn't have a meow sound, did we? No, no. Can't see it here. Can you see it, Nelson?
01:04:21Uh-uh. The kitten! The kitten! There she is!
01:04:28With Morris! Well spotted, Des.
01:04:31Oh, meow! There you are. Quite safe.
01:04:38Hello, my puppet. Have you been a good girl? Phew. That was close, Gordon.
01:04:47It certainly was. The plant worked, Des. She came to us.
01:04:52Exactly. No running about needed at all. It's a skill, Les. I'd be a fool to deny it.
01:04:59Now for our reward, eh?
01:05:02It was such fun. I was playing with Rosie, and then this dog barked and frightened me, so I ran down a hole.
01:05:11And it was one of mine.
01:05:13Morris has been showing me around his tunnels all afternoon.
01:05:18That wasn't a real dog meow. Just one of the new sounds for Gnome Post.
01:05:25Probably not the best one. Seems to have caused a bit of confusion.
01:05:29Well, Chief Gnome, I've found all the new noises confusing and, well, rather silly.
01:05:37You're really silly. I agree, Gordon.
01:05:39Oh.
01:05:41Ah! A message from Gladioli.
01:05:44My wife reminds us not to be late for tonight's Gnome Council Gala dinner.
01:05:49Oh! I like that noise, Chief Gnome.
01:05:52You did?
01:05:54What a relief!
01:05:55Ten points!
01:05:57You all prefer the old one?
01:06:00Yes!
01:06:01What a relief! So do I.
01:06:04Eh? Then why did everyone...
01:06:07The old sound wins. This calls for a celebration. I know. We'll have the Gala dinner here.
01:06:13Here. What about our reward?
01:06:17Loovam, Haldi, Spodihar.
01:06:20Oh! Do speak properly, dear.
01:06:23Ha ha ha! Only joking.
01:06:26Welcome, everyone. Let the feasting begin.
01:06:30So we had our old Lone Post noise back. Meow enjoyed the rest of her visit.
01:06:39Oh! A juicy peach!
01:06:46Must be our reward, Liz.
01:06:48Worth waiting for, I guess.
01:06:52And succulent.
01:06:55And everyone was very, very happy.
01:06:59Ta-da!
01:07:00Goodbye!
01:07:01Adios!
