00:00A former MCA vice president claims there is growing dissatisfaction within the party,
00:07with grassroots members questioning its future in Barisan National after being let on by UMNO
00:13for the longest time. Commenting on a news report on the matter,
00:18Tilian Kerr said the party's grassroots members believe UMNO has abandoned BN's
00:23principles to join forces with DAP in a bid to remain in power, leaving MCA members sidelined
00:30and disillusioned. He said the party must decide whether to remain in BN and be satisfied with
00:38crumbs thrown its way or break away to forge its own path at risk of losing everything.
00:45Tilian Kerr said that by continuing in BN, MCA may end up proving DAP's claim that the party
00:51has always been subservient to UMNO. This, he said, would tarnish the party's image and
00:57credibility. He also claimed that many members were dissatisfied with MCA s current state and
01:03felt the leadership must show courage by making firm and strategic decisions to provide clear
01:08direction for the party, adding that time was running out for its preparation for the next
01:14general election.
01:16On Sunday, Sinshu Daily reported MCA Secretary-General Chong Sing-Wun as urging the party to take charge
01:23of its own destiny if BN continues to drag its feet over a clear course for the coalition.
01:30Chong was reported to have said that MCA had already given BN more than two years to recalibrate
01:36after GE15, but the coalition s indecisiveness has left party members frustrated and uncertain.
