00:00We must end the scourge of violence against women.

00:03It is too many tragedies.

00:06One death is too many, but we see time and time again

00:09violence against women having an impact.

00:13And one of the issues we have to deal with

00:15is making sure that there are safe places and homes for people to go.

00:21My government has made combating domestic violence a national priority.

00:25I've had two discussions at the national cabinet level

00:28because some of these issues go to state and territory governments.

00:32We've provided $4 billion of funding.

00:37We have a range of programs there.

00:41The 480 community workers that are now in place out of the 500,

00:47the 10 days paid domestic and family violence leave,

00:50making the leaving violence payments permanent,

00:54making sure that we made the changes in our first budget

00:57to single parenting payment as well.

01:00That's so important and something very close to me.

01:04The national plan to end violence against women and children

01:08is central to my government's plans.

01:12And I am proud to say that if we are re-elected,

01:17we'll build on the investments that we've already made,

01:19$1.2 billion in emergency and transitional accommodation

01:24for women and children escaping domestic violence.

01:28Some of that is through the Housing Australia Future Fund,

01:32which we know was inexplicably held up by the no-elition,

01:37the Liberals, the Nationals and the Greens in the Senate,

01:40holding up that investment that should have been rolling out.

01:45But now we've seen this morning from the housing organisation here,

01:51they're benefiting from the Housing Australia Future Fund.
