00:00The Chibi News Daily Reflection
00:04Hi, I'm Mark and I'm the Vicar of Grofell and Saltersgill in Middlesbrough.
00:10Probably everyone knows that one person who you can tell the same thing to again and again and
00:16again and though they hear it they never seem to take it in and then when they actually need what
00:22you've told them they look at you blankly. It's a real test of patience. I sometimes wonder if
00:28Jesus' followers were those kind of people. All through Luke's Gospel, Luke's telling of the story
00:33of Jesus' life, Jesus has told his disciples that he's going to have to die and then be raised up
00:38again on the third day. So perhaps it shouldn't have been such a surprise to them that a few days
00:42after Jesus' death on the cross they're told that Jesus has been seen alive again. Yet they don't
00:47believe. Later that day Jesus himself appears to them. They're shocked and confused so Jesus explains
00:53them that he's not a ghost. Their terror turns to joy but even then the Bible says they still did
00:59not believe it. They'd forgotten what Jesus had taught them. I would have run out of patience at
01:03this point. Probably shrugged my shoulders and muttered something about wasting my entire time
01:08on them. But Jesus is not like me. Instead he patiently opens up the Bible to explain to them
01:14why this happened as it did. If I'm honest with myself I'm like the disciples forgetting the good
01:20news I've been told a thousand times over and needing things patiently explained to me again
01:24and again. And as I see how patient Jesus is with me it helps me be that much more patient
01:30with others as well.
