00:00Kashmir is a place you know that everybody wants to come and loves to come and I'm sure you know
00:06it's going to pick up as far as people listening to me in Delhi I would say that you know that you
00:12know for the first time Kashmiris have taken an open stand and this is something that needs to
00:19be reciprocated by Delhi as far as security is concerned okay you deal with security whatever
00:24you want to do but you need to have a different policy as far as the people are concerned you
00:29need to reach out to Kashmiris who stood with you at this very critical juncture
00:34how are you looking at the situation right now it's a lot of things to take in to kind of like
00:45you know manage especially the fact that there's a lot of you know war bongering kind of situation
00:51going on there's a lot of hate speech that is also happening so how you're sitting here you know you
00:56have to talk to media but there's a lot of stuff that's happening so how do you well unfortunately
01:02we have seen these happen things happening many a time but for this was attack on tourists happened
01:09for the first time on such a large scale and people are really you know shocked they are heartbroken
01:15and for the first time in last 30 to 35 to 40 years Kashmiris came out openly against this act
01:24and in support of you know the victims in solidarity with the rest of the country so that's something
01:33very new but as far as you know warmongering goes on these ups and downs in India park relationship
01:39it has this has been going on since 1947 we are the worst victims you know when there are tensions
01:45between the two countries we are the first and the worst victims and i hope and uh pray that you know
01:52this is a temporary phase and uh good sense prevails on both the sides though you know at this point of
01:59time people in our country are very much hurt they are very angry so i think government of India is doing
02:04certain taking certain measures which they feel is going to cool down tempos to a little bit and the
02:11other thing is that a lot of people are also talking about the security lapse that happened
02:15uh when the tourists were there there were a lot of many tourists actually and how come they just came
02:20down and kind of shot them for 20 minutes and then uh left and nobody has been found yet and now
02:26they're burning all these houses you know uh so what do you think happened and uh if you know
02:33anything you see i'm not a security expert so i can't comment on that what went wrong whether
02:38there were any lapses you know whether there could have been better security arrangements that is
02:43something for the government to investigate inquire into and find out you know that's i think it's
02:48going to come out soon now you have been in the government before so uh you must have managed
02:54security situations looking at the fact that anant nag and that whole area is quite sensitive and
02:59amarnath yatra is the beginning so you know unfortunately during my tenure there was an
03:05attack on amarnath yatra and so you know at this point of time you know as the home minister said
03:10baisaran was uh it was you know a part of amarnath yatra tourists were not supposed to go there but
03:18they went there and the police wasn't informed the forces were not informed you know they just were
03:23allowed to go there so there are many things are many stories are coming up unless and until the air
03:28doesn't clear you know after some time there may be certain you know investigations inquiries and
03:34then we may know you know what actually went wrong and in the meanwhile then what happens with kashmir
03:38because you know the students are i mean their reports that's my worry that's why i spoke the
03:43home minister yesterday i told him you know we are getting frantic calls videos are there on the
03:48social media where kashmiri students kashmiri tradesmen are being you know beaten up mercilessly they
03:55are being asked to go back and uh he assured me that he's going to intervene and thankfully we are
04:02getting positive reports from many parts of the country not everywhere you know certain things
04:08incidents are still taking place but overall we are getting information from the students and others
04:14that police of at different places is giving them a call and asking them about their whereabouts about
04:21their well-being so uh it's getting better and what happens to tourism now because uh there is all
04:28this development that has taken place and also the fact that you know uh people come around this time
04:33livelihoods this that all kinds of things and then this kind of stuff happens and violence actually
04:38has increased after 2019 uh in some ways you know um so how do you look at that because there was
04:44this abrogation then kind of the long period of silence in kashmir in fact we did an issue also
04:49about this whole silence that nobody's talking there's a lot of fear here um do they even listen
04:54to you in delhi i am hopeful that uh you know this is not going to last this kind of feeling this kind
05:01of atmosphere apparently unofficial newspaper policies were that you can't you have to use the word
05:07terrorist what's the difference in i don't think there is much difference because any person you
05:12know who uh kills innocent people he is a terrorist so i don't think there should be any doubt about
05:18that when you kill innocent people it's not something you know that you are in a war zone and you are
05:24fighting two soldiers are fighting you know from two sides no it's uh it's a you know uh powerless
05:31uh carrying no weapons uh innocent tourists on one side and fully armed you know terrorists on the
05:39other side so i think uh there should be no confusion about it and the last question is does hope ever
05:45work in kashmir kashmir is surviving on hope because we have seen so many things so many ups and downs so
05:53many you know bad things happening but kashmir you know it again comes back it's a very vibrant place
05:59there are setbacks you know we have seen too much of blood too much of destruction death and all that
06:06but kashmir is surviving i don't think any other place in this uh subcontinent uh has seen so much
06:15you know pain and so much destruction and still is surviving and still is thriving you know i i am
06:22you want to ask the government to like you know have a different uh yeah i already spoke the home
06:28maybe to the people of india first of all you know before i give a appeal to people of india i would
06:34like to you know appeal the media because they are spreading venom they are making it in hindu muslim
06:41issue no doubt the terrorists ask them their religion as per you know the reports are coming but
06:47you know kashmiri terrorists are not kashmiris you know whosoever they are kashmiris not terrorists
06:53they are not talking about you know the people who carry these injured people for miles all together
07:01who gave their blood they are not talking about adil shah you know who tried to snatch the gun from the
07:08militant to save the tourists uh there and was killed so they are not talking about all these
07:13things they are only talking about what the terrorists you know ask the tourists and uh you know
07:20i don't think kashmiris have anything to do with the what the terrorists did and this is being
07:24playing played again and again on the tv channels and that's why you know is also one of the reasons
07:30why our students are being beaten up mercilessly why our you know traders are being beaten up so i would
07:37appeal you know to all the indians that for the first time in last 40 years kashmiris have come up
07:43come out in open sport of country they have shown solidarity they have shared your pain so please
07:51you know try to uh you know reciprocate it by reaching out to the students to the traders kashmiri
07:58who are there in your places in your states and uh this is going to you know uh kind of uh bring us
08:06closer and kind of bridge the gap that is between kashmiris and rest of the country
