00:00It does look like we have that pick.

00:02It is in another Ohio State player off the board here in round number one.

00:08Interior D lineman, Tyleek Williams from Ohio State.

00:12It was 28th overall to the Detroit Lions.

00:16So bolstering that defensive line in the interior,

00:19as we just heard the guys discussing, Joe,

00:22that was going to be a team priority for the Lions here in round number one.

00:26Tyleek Williams, an anchor of that defensive front.

00:29This past year for Ohio State en route to winning a national championship.

00:33What can he do now for the Lions and the National Football League?

00:36Well, get pressure up the middle, right?

00:38Against the likes of Caleb Williams and some of the other quarterbacks

00:41like Jordan Love in the division and help solidify the defensive front.

00:45Did have five and a half sacks over his career.

00:49He's big, 6'3", 6'4", about 334 pounds.

00:53Very quick first step.

00:54He shoots the gap very well.

00:56You can see it on tape right there.

00:57He's a dominant run stuffer, and that's what you want if you're the Detroit Lions.

01:10Again, this helps them now solidify themselves with Philadelphia

01:22High League Williams was pure plus money, though, to go inside the first 32.

01:30Plenty of guys in front of him, including his own T-8 offensive tackle, Josh Simmons.

01:37If Detroit looked to do that, they did not end up taking Josh Simmons.

01:41Earlier in this draft, another NFC North team, as we shared, 24th overall.

01:46Donovan Jackson, the offensive guard out of Ohio State.

01:49Ohio State, three players drafted so far on night number one.

01:53Their most bitter rivals are the Michigan Wolverines,

01:55also with three first-round selections as of this moment.

02:02You guys highlighted a defensive lineman.

02:05It is Tyleek Williams from the Ohio State Buckeyes and the national champs.

02:10What can he present now for Detroit under new defensive coordinator Kelvin Shepard?

02:14So, obviously, interesting when you get to the end of the first round, you see these teams that

02:18obviously had successful seasons to some extent last year.

02:22They are just trying to bolster and probably are more need-focused than some of the teams

02:27earlier in the draft who are taking some swings on impact players.

02:31The Lions already have impact players.

02:33Jameer Gibbs, Amon Ross St. Brown, Aiden Hutchinson, just to name a few.

02:38Tyleek Williams now comes in and tries to stabilize some of the areas of the defense

02:42that were soft due to injury last year.

02:45Mike, a couple of things.

02:46Okay, on that point you just made about soft due to injury.

02:48Mike, they are really light at de-tackle.

02:50Lee McNeil, their start nose tackle, suffered a 2-on ACL.

02:54They had no one to replace them.

02:55They're very light on depth at de-tackle.

02:57So, when McNeil comes back, they're going to have a rotation.

03:01Maybe if Williams loses a little weight, he could play three technique or five or seven.

03:05But the bottom line is, when you're picking that late, you could take a guy that you had in your top 40.

03:10Williams, by the way, is like a top 40, top 45 player.

03:13Some people are going to say maybe this is a little bit early.

03:16But the bottom line is, this is a good, productive football player from a great program

03:19for a team who needed help on their defensive front.

03:21And going into a good program in Detroit, obviously, the Lions will try to get healthy this offseason

03:29and utilize Williams in a unique way.

03:31He'll be playing for a new defensive coordinator.

03:33Aaron Glenn, now the head coach of the Jets.

03:35Kelvin Shepard, promoted from within, is the Lions' new defensive coordinator.
