00:00Hey, this is Danielle Flynn, I'm out for City of the Week.
00:08I am here with Mayor Sarah Bowman, Founders Fest, kicking off tonight.
00:14Sarah, what time is it?
00:16It is Margarita o'clock, according to my watch.
00:19Let's go!
00:20It's like Niagara Falls.
00:22You want to jump in that thing.
00:24So, they're getting prepared for Fido Fest, and one of the things you can do if you have
00:29a dog that's properly trained and you're a better dog owner than I am, then you can
00:32bring your dog out here.
00:33And I've seen it before in the years past.
00:35Dogs, like, jump.
00:38It's amazing to see live.
00:40Yeah, it's super fun.
00:41And the events start on Friday at 10 a.m., and they go all day Friday, all day Saturday.
00:46An insane amount of events if you want to put your dog or dogs into those.
00:51But also, if you're just like the casual dog owner, we're like, I'm just going to shake
00:54this out.
00:55There's plenty to do there as well.
00:57And then, Sarah, you were telling me you got new stuff, like, specifically for teens.
01:02What's going on with that?
01:03Yeah, so we're bringing back the X-throwing that was really big last year.
01:07X-throwing!
01:07Yeah, it's like a big truck that comes and says, throw it at the...
01:10So we can't do it right now?
01:11Not yet.
01:11Not yet.
01:12Dang it!
01:12We're setting up!
01:13What kind of Founders Fest is this, Sarah Bowman, Mayor of Farm A10?
01:18There's no pool, but it's coming.
01:19There's a gaming truck also for the kids that, you know, want to game and be social at the
01:24same time.
01:24Plus, you can get your kids out of the house by being like, it's fine.
01:26You can go in over to Founders Fest and you can play video games there.
01:29It'll be good.
01:30Absolutely.
01:30Then you wrap up with live music, Saturday night.
01:33Saturday night.
01:33Queen Tribute Band!
01:35What's the name of that band?
01:36Simply Queen!
01:37Simply Queen!
01:37You don't even have to say anything, Sarah.
01:39I'm just a talking machine.
01:40That's all I'm here for.
01:41So we're over at Sweet and Sticky Experience Backyard Barbecue.
01:46This is Bentley and Anastasia.
01:48And you guys are cooking this stuff for 12 to 15 hours.
01:52Is that correct?
01:5215 hours, yeah.
01:52That was the first question I asked you about your pulled pork sandwiches.
01:55I think you asked us, do we have coleslaw?
01:58You see, I'm right.
01:59We have coleslaw.
02:00We also have a seven-layer, seven-cheese baked mac and cheese.
02:06I am dying!
02:07Oh my God, that's so amazing.
02:10And you guys are open all throughout Farmington Founders Fest.
02:13Absolutely, we're excited.
02:15Get over it.
02:15This smells so good right now.
02:17You've got to smell what I'm smelling.
02:19Bentley, you're doing it well.
02:20All right, we're hanging out with John and Dave.
02:22And they are going to take this pile of sand and turn it into a mermaid.
02:28This is part of the children's area at Farmington's Founders Fest.
02:33John, how long will it take you to turn this pile into a mermaid?
02:39Well, we will definitely be done by Saturday afternoon.
02:43Probably about 16 to 20 hours between now and then.
02:48Do you guys have to remove it?
02:50We don't, but somebody will.
02:53I mean, somebody owns the sculpture when we get done.
02:56Smart.
02:57That's smart business practice right there.
02:59That is.
03:00Saves my back.
03:02But somewhere they use this sand to fill holes or in the kids' playgrounds.
03:06We add nothing to it, so it's very environmentally friendly.
03:09When we get done with it, it's just like we brought it out of the ground.
03:11So kids can play in it.
03:13You can drive on it.
03:14You can roll in it.
03:15Cats can poop in it.
03:16Yeah, there you go.
03:18All right.
03:18Well, we look forward to checking out the mermaid at Founders Fest.
03:20Please come back and check us out.
03:22All right.
03:22So we walked around downtown Farmington, and my syndicate cup is empty.
03:27I'm close.
03:28Oh, my God.
03:30Well, I talk more than you do.
03:32Well, I talk more than you do.
03:33That's a scary statement right there.
03:35Sarah Bowman, mayor of Farmington, Founders Fest going on all weekend.
03:39Farmington!
03:40Farmington!
03:40Your city of the week with 94.7, putting you on the spot.
03:45Love it.
03:46Thank you so much once again, CSX, for being the greatest rock and roll station in the state of Michigan.
03:51We are so happy to have you.
03:52That was so mayoral.
