00:00Tampa Bay's Morning Crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.

00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.

00:10We got Jennifer on the phone for Military Monday right now.

00:13Good morning, Jennifer. How are you?

00:15Good. How are you guys?

00:16We're doing great. Hey, thanks for reaching out to us.

00:18We get to honor your son today.

00:20Tell us about your son Devin's service in our military.

00:22He joined two and a half years ago. He's in the Marines.

00:26Okay.

00:26He has a five-year contract, which is a four.

00:29He's an intelligence, so there's a lot of training, so they're keeping him an extra year, of course.

00:34We miss him. He's in California, Camp Pendleton.

00:38He's a corporal now. I think he's been promoted a couple times, so we're really proud of him.

00:42So what are his plans? To make this a career, or does he have some other plans post-military?

00:48He's saying he's not going to re-enlist, re-sign up.

00:51He wants to come back here and maybe get a job at McGill or somewhere, but he's a homeboy.

00:58He loves it here in Plant City, so he's looking forward to coming back.

01:01But who knows? He's liking his job. He's settling in more, making friends out there.

01:06But he can't stay in California, that's for sure.

01:09He knows that.

01:10Mom is set the rules!

01:11Far from mom.

01:12I love it.

01:13What high school did he go to?

01:15He went to Strawberry Crest.

01:16Very cool.

01:17And when he first came to you and said he was going to enlist, what was his reasoning?

01:21Why did he feel compelled to enlist?

01:22He wasn't sure. He was going to HCC.

01:25He wanted to either be in law enforcement or military.

01:30We talked about it as a family and thought it was a better choice for him to go into the military

01:34and get a different kind of training.

01:36And of course, I've got two bosses I work for that they're former Marines, too.

01:40So they're proud of him, too.

01:42I get a lot of conversations and support from them.

01:45But so really, the training he's getting in the military, he can actually come out.

01:50And if he wants to do law enforcement, then he's got an opportunity.

01:53Exactly.

01:55Well, good.

01:55Well, listen, Jennifer, we're so glad you told us about Devin.

01:58We are proud of him as well.

02:00And we're so thankful for his service and however that is in the military and the Marines

02:06and what he decides to do with that.

02:07And if he comes back in law enforcement, then we'll probably honor him for First or Smarter

02:11Friday as well.
