Military Mom Honors Son For Military Monday

00:00Tampa Bay's morning crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.

00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.

00:10Alright, it is Military Monday. We have Jennifer on the phone with us this morning.

00:14Good morning, Jennifer. How are you?

00:15Good, good. Good morning. How are you guys?

00:17We are doing great. We are glad that you reached out to us because we get to talk about your son.

00:21We get to brag about your son, Dylan, who serves in our military.

00:25Tell us what branch he serves in.

00:27He is in the Marines. He is currently stationed in Japan.

00:31Okay. And how long has he been in the Marines?

00:34Two years now.

00:36And what were some factors that made him want to join the Marines?

00:39I was a single mom. Both my parents are Marines.

00:44And so my dad helped be his dad, if that makes sense.

00:48Oh, okay.

00:49Yeah, so to, you know, show respect back, he decided to go to the Marines and be a Marine.

00:58Wow.

00:59Oh my gosh.

01:00What a great reason to join.

01:02Yeah, so parents are super proud.

01:05When we went to graduation, it was amazing for my parents to have both been there on that parade deck

01:12and then see their grandson, who they helped raise, you know, do the same thing.

01:18And he loves it.

01:19He is so proud.

01:21He just got off deployment.

01:23I went to Australia, Philippines, South Korea.

01:27And he loves serving this country.

01:30So when does mom get to see her baby again?

01:33Oh my gosh, you're going to make me cry thinking about it.

01:35So today is day 317 that I haven't hugged him.

01:40Oh.

01:41And he just put in yesterday for his leave to come home at Christmas.

01:45We're just, fingers crossed, hoping it's approved to come home December 18th.

01:50So, fingers crossed.

01:51What a Christmas present that will be for mom, huh?

01:54Oh man, I am going to have the balloons and the posters and the flags and everything at the airport.

02:00Well, you got to do that.

02:01That's going to be an awesome welcoming home for him.

02:04And we just want to say that we are so grateful for his service.

02:08We know it's tough on you as well.

02:14that you can pass on to him when you see him December 18th.

02:20I'll actually wind up mailing it to him.

02:22I'm trying to have a moment here, Jennifer.

02:25Well, you know, I mean, they don't get paid very much.

02:33You can do with it whatever you want as long as you just get it to him for us.

02:36But again, we are so grateful and we appreciate you so much.

02:39Well, thank you guys very much for just acknowledging our military and being so supportive of it.

02:46It's the least we can do and we love doing it.
