00:00Hey, what's up y'all? It's Dub hanging here in the studio. We are exactly five weeks away

00:06from the 2022 Kicks 99 Guitar Pool, November 15th at the James Brown Arena. Speaking of

00:12James Brown Arena, that's what kind of centers around my Guitar Pool memories for this week.

00:17We're going to go to 2010 and talk about our first year at the James Brown Arena. All right,

00:23so up until then, Guitar Pool had been pretty much at every indoor venue in the CSRA except

00:29for the JBA. We'd been at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, which is where Guitar Pool started.

00:34We'd been at the Imperial Theater. We'd been at the Bell. We'd been at the Convocation Center. There

00:38was only one indoor venue left for us to bring Guitar Pool to, and we did that in 2010. It was

00:44our first year in the James Brown Arena, and we had a heck of a lineup for 2010. We had Jason Aldean,

00:51Darius Rucker, Vince Gill, Montgomery Gentry, Easton Corbin, and the Band Perry. There was not a bigger

00:58lineup that we could have had in 2010, and the crowd that showed up for Guitar Pool 2010

01:03knew it. I mean, the line for tickets that day was, I mean, it was around the block. That's when

01:11the Guitar Pool campout really went to the next level. I mean, there was people out there a week

01:16ahead of time before tickets even went on sale. And we'll never forget that Saturday morning when

01:22tickets went on sale. The line stretched the whole length of the sidewalk and went around

01:27the corner at the JBA. It was one of the craziest things I've ever seen. As far as the show goes,

01:33it was just hit after hit after hit. And each artist was trying to one-up each other because

01:39they all had so many hits at the time that they're like, okay, so like Vince Gill would play a song

01:45that, of course, everybody knew. Well, Darius Rucker's sitting right next to him, and he's like, okay,

01:49I'm going to see that hit, and I'm going to raise you a hit. And so Darius would play a hit that

01:54everybody knew. And then Jason Aldean, who was sitting next to them, would go, hey, all right,

01:58I'll see that hit and that hit, and I'll raise you this hit. It was nothing but hits that night.

02:03One of the other things I remember is the planned grand finale that night was going to be Vince Gill

02:09singing Go Rest High on that Mountain and all the other artists joining in with him.

02:13I don't know if Vince didn't get the memo or he just forgot, but the second song into Guitar

02:22Pole, because you know, each artist will do a song, they'll do another song, we'll take a break,

02:25they'll come back and do two more songs. And it was Vince's second song before we even went into

02:29intermission, and he started singing Go Rest High on that Mountain. I run to the backstage area,

02:35find Tee Gentry and go, we got a punt. We need to figure out a new grand finale song because Vince is

02:41doing the one we're supposed to do right now. So we finished out the show with You Never Even

02:47Called Me By My Name by David Allen Coe. It was a great cover. It was a great night. One of the best

02:53guitar poles ever. Definitely one of the biggest lineups. Our first year at the JBA. I'll never

02:59forget it. I guarantee you guys won't forget it either. More guitar pole memories coming your way next week.
