00:00The National Maritime Council, or NMC, thanked Google Maps for labeling the West Philippine Sea,

00:05seeing it as recognition of the Philippines' sovereignty over the area.

00:09According to Malacanang, this aligns with international agreements like the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea,

00:16or UNCLOS, the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award, and the Philippine Maritime Zones Act.

00:22The NMC views this label as proof of global acknowledgement of the Philippines' maritime rights,

00:27helping strengthen national identity and unity.
