00:00With home court advantage, the Lakers hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves in our 3-6 split.

00:05Another series we think is going to be close, but the Lakers were the outright favorites,

00:10entering game number one on Saturday night.

00:13Minnesota had other ideas.

00:15The Timberwolves winning outright as a four-and-a-half-point dog in downtown L.A., 117-95.

00:23A total of 215, and a hook does stay under,

00:26despite 37 points from Luka Doncic in his Lakers' playoff debut.

00:31The Minnesota Timberwolves have enough on the other side with some brilliant three-point shooting.

00:36Anthony Edwards, 22 points, four of nine from deep.

00:39Jaden McDaniels, 25 points, perfect from beyond the arc,

00:43and 23 points from Nas Reed off the bench, including six made triples.

00:48Minnesota wins by 22 to steal game number one on the road.

00:52Yeah, knocked down 21 triples on the road in a playoff game.

00:56Which was 50% from the floor, which is so impressive to see that happen.

00:59Specifically, again, it's a Lakers team that you think would be fired up for that game.

01:02And they were.

01:03Watching that first quarter, like 28 to 21 Lakers.

01:06Luka was on one here.

01:07But LeBron James was nowhere to be found off the jump here.

01:11Slowly starting out.

01:12Scored some points there in the second half.

01:13Eight for 18, only 19 points.

01:15Wasn't good enough.

01:16But you're talking about, again, you need some of those bench players,

01:18those ABC guys to step up.

01:21You know you have the superstars in Anthony Edwards.

01:22But Nas Reed coming eight of 12 from the floor, six of nine from three-point range,

01:26as he pointed out.

01:27That's massive stuff.

01:28That is a huge victory in a statement game from Minnesota, who said,

01:31you know what?

01:32Last year, we thought we could win a championship.

01:34We made some changes.

01:35Lost Carl Anthony Towns.

01:36Got Julius Randle in town.

01:37Things didn't really come together, per se, in the regular season.

01:40Still a good team.

01:40One game away from winning 50 games as a franchise.

01:43But that is a big-time win.

01:45And also, what were you doing with Los Angeles Lakers?

01:48There's a lot of hype and excitement that the healthy Lakers are in the playoffs with Luka.

01:51And then you see Luka drop 37 points, five of 10 from three-point range.

01:55And they got smoked.

01:56LeBron's got to be better.

01:57That supporting cast has to be much better for the Lakers.
