03:27at about 10 11 wall that that could have been very nasty indeed for pierre gasly is pushing and pushing
03:33hard with the drs open goes ninth fastest decent lap there from pierre gasly have towards the final
03:41corner now with lewis hamilton neat and tidy outside of the uh sorry away from the wall as
03:50hamilton goes ninth fastest uh coming out and relying totally that was close on his team that was close
04:00because he can't see anything until he's into the pit lane and to uh the background rather than the
04:05race track whilst piastri's flying in the middle sector verstappen's three tenths up on mclaren in
04:11the first part of the lap he actually crosses the line george russell now uh to the hairpin as
04:17antonelli his teammate goes third fastest overall alex albon has had a lap time deleted doesn't count
04:24it was only a slow lap anyway russell goes second fastest where he's been second fastest in qualifying
04:29in two of the last three qualifying sessions and verstappen goes to the top 10th and a half ahead of
04:36that was always going to be vulnerable remember of course this is all about getting through to the
04:41top 10 shootout this as long as you do that this is not about your grid uh slot the claire goes fourth
04:47fast might help them for the race but does that offer their rivals just a hope and a bit of lights
04:53for this evening yeah well norris has maybe just to put that to bed but not by much as antonelli makes
04:59his way around the final corner his teammate george russell has moved up into third place just ahead
05:05of him on the track antonelli makes the dash to the line and goes fifth fastest not it has to be said
05:12ollie bearman who reached q3 in japan then was qualified last last week and still managed to score
05:18points yeah he won't have the time or the battery left will he to go again so that's uh that's the end
05:24of that little adventure for ollie bearman sadly isaac hadja will be next to cross the line to try and
05:30get out of the bottom five and can't do so which will be good news for the likes of yuki sunoda and
05:35lewis hamilton who are right on the cusp here comes liam lawson trying to get into q3 and he does so and
05:41pushes lewis hamilton out of the top ten so this lap now becomes very crucial indeed for lewis hamilton his
05:49teammate charlotte claire in seventh make that six just ahead of carlos sainz uh fernando alonso is
05:56improving pierre gasly is improving hamilton goes into the top eight above albon and sunoda so saved
06:03his best till last there and he should be okay as gasly next across the line goes ahead of him drs open
06:10pushes to the line it's 13th and only 13 for fernando he beats off uh hadja and bearman to that 13th
06:17spot but he can't make it out of the bottom five sunoda does though turning late got the throttle
06:23hit the throttle hard and that was a hit against the wall was it not i think it was and we've got
06:29a double yellow being waved uh for lando norris and a red flag and that is a bigger hit against the
06:36wall than his teammate oscar piastri and piastri got across the line to recall that time of a 127
06:43five before the red flag we believe lando norris says he's okay out of qualifying let's see so this
06:51is turn three let's see where it went wrong
07:00yeah it's a lot of damage as well he hit the throttle really hard and took a bit of a swap
07:07and boom before you know it he he would have the car would have been in the wall before lando even
07:15realized so this is where he hit the throttle too hard it jumped over the curb and it's landed off the
07:22curb and he's got some corrective steering lock to the left are you okay yeah i'm good
07:28you worry about it mate the grid right up nicely against the wall looking handy for max restappen
07:39definitely on a par with oscar piastri through the first two sectors and by one millisecond one
07:46one thousandth of a second the last three qualifying sessions in his mercedes and third on the grid here
07:52a couple of years ago where's this lap gonna put george russell it's gonna put him on provisional
07:57pole that was as close as you want to go to the outside of the final corner without hitting it
08:01piastri throwing everything at this lap and everything to get provisional pole from george
08:07russell so it's mclaren back on top but this man max verstappen is still within touching distance
08:14the man who was on pole last week is on pole now the man who was on pole here last year could get
08:19pole again here comes max verstappen and he does get pole by one one hundredth of a second verstappen has
08:27proved the difference once more he did it in japan he's done it in jenna and by jingo was that a great
