00:00all right i want to start with the west actually dave because honestly i think that there's more

00:04intriguing matchups in the west i think you've got some big rivalries you got a lot of things

00:08in the western conference uh that really stick out to me uh now only two series starts saturday

00:15now this is the nhl for you it is what it is i guess they didn't want the teams that played

00:18thursday to only have one day off so you know you couldn't get any east teams like tampa or

00:23washington etc in there so only two series are going to start saturday three start on sunday

00:28another the rest on monday and then tampa and florida don't start till tuesday tuesday they're

00:33not playing game one two which is absolutely nonsense but it is what it is dave let's start

00:37with winnipeg and st louis they'll play game one on saturday night uh we know the story here

00:42president's trophy's been a curse last team to win the cup with the president's trophy was the

00:47blackhawks in 12 13 i think it's only eight teams in the last 35 years or some ridiculous stat like

00:54that it's very hard to do president's trophy winnipeg wins it and they get the team in st louis

01:00that has been hot over the last couple of months bennington of course hella bucks had his problems

01:05in the playoffs bennington's won a cup interesting first round matchup dave very interesting and i don't

01:12know if it's the best case scenario for winnipeg i mean what st louis did to get to this point and get

01:20in the playoffs awesome maybe not such a great stretch that you know the last couple games but

01:24they got this guy in net he's won the cup and winnipeg has nothing but questions so i think this

01:33is an extended series um i think it might be what's known in the business as a a homer series meaning the

01:42home team wins pretty much every game and we get this thing stretched out to uh a minimum of six maybe

01:49seven games i don't think this price might surprise me um you know and i think it's sometimes the hockey

01:57prices don't surprise you because the odds makers we don't the seeds don't matter eights can beat

02:05ones twos can beat sevens can beat twos this one surprised me this was a little heavy in my in my

02:12yeah you know minus 225 for the series for winnipeg and i get it they're they were the best team in the

02:18regular season but you know i don't think that they've warranted uh from their past couple years

02:25this group with hellebuck is not warranted uh being that big of a favorite especially against

02:30a goalie who's won a cup you know that's the thing for me you know goalie who's won a cup on the other

02:36side now i do think winnipeg finds a way dave i don't think winnipeg's gonna go down here to st

02:41louis in the first round but i'm agree with you on this aspect they could make it a little tough on

02:45them uh here in this opening round series uh and make them think about it a little bit i think

02:50i think minnesota's the team everybody wanted uh if you talk about the top i i think that that was

02:56the matchup uh that everybody was kind of hoping for whether you were winnipeg or vegas in the west

03:02the other uh series in that central division is of course this monster colorado dallas series and man

03:08i know jason robertson is a great player dave but i was very surprised how much things moved

03:16off of this series by him getting injured this series was all colorado was a very slight favorite

03:23when they first put the odds out a couple nights ago and now it's dropped uh completely to the point

03:28where i've got up to this very second uh with colorado minus 152 dallas plus 126 and then you saw

03:36dallas who was favored in the west dropped to fifth in the west on those odds boards big movements dave

03:43huge um again i think colorado should be favored all things being equal um they split the first two

03:51games go home you know hold home ice and then it kind of goes from there that's the way it looks

03:58dallas is having a complete mess going into the playoffs where they lose seven in a row to finish the

04:03season couldn't find anything that made them be the odds on favorite before all of that and then

04:09the injury news um this is this is a bit strange as much as the other one surprised me with winnipeg

04:17being such a big favorite i think the line is closer to being right now uh i thought it was a

04:22little you know shaded a little bit light when it first came out so colorado being a favorite makes

04:28more sense uh this would be an over series meaning games more likely to go over i think than the first

04:35series we just talked about the winnipeg st louis is going to be a lot of unders um they're going to

04:40look different but man colorado is along with vegas now one of the teams to beat odds wise in the west

04:50they are they are now officially the odds are my favorite
