00:00hi in this video we are going to go over the fundamental differences between a lead an account
00:09and a contact with regards to what it means its sales force so to get started let's think about
00:17what a lead is a lead is basically a business card that you get from a prospect meaning that
00:24it has both personal information relevant for the contact as well as organizational information
00:32in the sense that the account or company that they are associated with so a lead contains
00:40both information about a company as well as the person at the company accounts on the
00:47other hand only refer to information relevant for the organization or the company and contacts
00:54only house information related to the person working at the company so the combination of
01:01account and contact information makes up the lead information so jumping into salesforce right now
01:10you can see that i'm logged in as julie on top and she is a rep so i am now on the leads tab as
01:20indicated by the highlight on it and within a leads detail section you can see that it has first of
01:30all a company as well as a name of a person associated with that company now it also has other information
01:40however fundamentally we're looking at the fact that a lead contains a person as well as a company
01:48so let's now jump into what an account is so let's now jump into what an account is
01:55now i'm on the accounts tab in salesforce and you can see that accounts have a name
02:01a parent which we will go into at a later video and other information without really capturing any
02:10personal information related to any person working at the organization
02:16so it's basically capturing information only for the company now if i switch tabs and move to a contact
02:25you can see that i can i can now see personal information related to someone working at a particular
02:33organization or company so in this case it's shane buckner uh we can see the company that they're
02:40associated with however it's mostly capturing information such as shane's title email phone mobile etc
02:54now to take this a step further i'm now back on the accounts page as you can see and if i want to get a
03:02full 360 degree view of any contact associated with an account i can simply click on the related sub
03:12tab that you see on the screen so if i click on it you'll see something called related contacts
03:19so this is not populated automatically based on a contact who works at mcdonald's in this example
03:29however if you click the add relationship button and add a contact that you've created
03:36and assign them a role you can see easily if you come to a con sorry account record you can see the
03:45multiple contacts associated with it from the related tab so hope this a quick video was helpful for you
