00:00hi in this video we are going to go over how you as a manager can create budgets for reps within

00:08your team now there are two ways to create budgets in salesforce the first is through a bulk upload

00:15we are going to go over that specific way in a different video and that's probably going to be

00:22your most used use case when you're trying to load in budgets you want to do it in bulk and

00:29for a number of different reps within your team however for this video specifically we are going

00:35to focus on how you can also create manual budgets manually in the system so it's for those one-off

00:43cases where you think you might just create a budget manually for someone new joining the team

00:49of a particular month yeah it's basically for those one-off cases so without further ado let's jump right

00:57in so you'll see that now i am located within the budgets tab within my system and i'm looking at

01:06the all budgets view so as a manager when i click on this i should be able to view all of the budgets

01:12defined for all of the reps in my team from here if i click on the new button in the top right i'll see

01:20the budget creation layout pop up now we are using some a combination of different criteria in order

01:28to define a budget and then to match that budget against any opportunity created that matches all

01:34of those criteria you'll see the red asterisks beside certain fields and these are basically the fields

01:41which make the budget uh which define the criteria for the budget and is used for the uh matching so

01:49for example if i define a budget with a specific market brand product family for a particular rep for

01:56a particular month of the year salesforce uses this in the background and of any opportunity created

02:04that matches that same criteria since that same market brand etc for the same month for the same rep

02:13that's the opportunity that's going to get matched uh to the corresponding budget record that has been

02:18created so let's just go in and fill some information i pick my market i pick my brand pick my product

02:29family i just defined who this is for now you'll notice when it comes to the budget value field that it's not

02:39required meaning that you can create a value uh budget without a given value however when you do save the

02:47record it will automatically be created with a zero value so for the purpose of this i'll pick three thousand

02:55and i will also pick a date let's just say it's for the month of august this year now you'll notice that

03:06we do have a full date uh value that we're entering in the sense that it has a day a month and a year

03:13but really what is uh the more important part of this is the month and the year only so this is basically

03:21the budget for august of 2020 and you can discount the specific day that you pick uh from the date

03:28picker as a best practice though we always encourage you to use the first of the month uh for any budget

03:36that you're trying to create uh but just know that whatever date you pick uh the really important part

03:42of it is the month and the year so with that uh we are ready to create the budget click save and the

03:49record is created the budget is now defined so hope that was helpful thank you
