00:08Hey, thanks for checking out the video. It's National High Five Day.
00:12I mean, National Days are just taking over.
00:15Anything can be a National Day.
00:17As a matter of fact, I thought I'd just make up some of my own, like National Something on a Stick Day.
00:23That's March 28th.
00:25Alright, what about like National Goof Off Day?
00:29March 22nd.
00:31Alright, I got one.
00:32National World Password Day.
00:35That's the 4th of May.
00:38National Chicken Wing Day?
00:41That's coming up July 29th.
00:44Alright, National No Bra Day.
00:48Come on, man, we all know that's October 13th.
00:52Stupid National Days. Go out and give somebody a high five.
00:56Right in the back of the head.
00:57Hey, I had Dennis Dunaway, the original bass player for Alice Cooper on my Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast.
01:02Great conversation.
01:04There's this film out.
01:05It's a documentary of sorts called Live from the AstroTurf.
01:09Check it out if you get a chance.
01:11But he told me this funny story about an Alice Cooper prop that didn't exactly go the way it was supposed to early on in Alice's career.
01:18Check this out.
01:19Warner Brothers Props Department to build this giant wooden cannon.
01:24Alice was going to get in the barrel of the cannon, wave to the crowd, and slide down, and then go through an escape hatch.
01:31And then this thing had like this slingshot apparatus inside that would fire a dummy across the stage.
01:38And then Alice would come out from the other side.
01:40Our first gig was the test gig.
01:43We told this guy with the Super Trooper spotlight in the back of the room, okay, so Alice is going to wave, have the spotlight on him.
01:51The cannon's going to raise up, and then you'll see smoke come out.
01:55And then follow Alice across the stage to the other side.
02:00Well, best laid plans, you know, Alice waves to the crowd, disappears, the smoke comes out, and then this dummy just dribbles up the end of the cannon and hangs there swinging by the toe.
02:12And the spotlight stays on it, you know, so we're like, so we're backstage, oh my God, this is a disaster.
02:19What a great conversation.
02:20Dennis Dunaway in studio.
