00:00all right marijuana use is on the rise among older americans

00:09one in 20 say they've used pot within the previous month about five percent of men and women age 55

00:18and older say they've used marijuana or hashish in the previous month which is the highest it's

00:25ever been so easy to get now well yeah everywhere yeah use was twice as high among older men

00:32with about 6.7 percent reporting cannabis use compared to 3.5 percent of women

00:40old people are getting stoned i feel like old people too are using it

00:45even if it's not necessarily through a doctor they're using it for pain they're using it for

00:53you know i know a bunch of different old people that you know have been going through pain or

01:01through like a cancer thing and someone is like hey let me get you this thing you know and they try

01:08and they're like wow it changes their cannabinoids can really really help people right like seizure

01:14like people that have seizures and stuff yeah yeah my mom tried it yeah does she still do it or no

01:20yeah she didn't really she didn't find that it worked i don't know if she gave it enough chance

01:24to tell you the truth yeah right but um i talked to someone over the weekend they're not older but

01:29they're younger but they're like yeah i smoked it again but smoked in a while and i felt every pain

01:34on my body i'm like it's not supposed to make you feel every pain in your body that was so funny

01:39the opposite right she's like oh this hurts oh that hurts like wow i'm like that didn't react very

01:46well with no did she smoke the right stuff i don't know what she did that's too crazy to go

01:51to try to get high and just be like oh yeah oh god it hurts i did not like what it is on the movie

01:59oh god right because i'd be expecting like i'm gonna feel totally relaxed right right the munchies

02:07i'll be super chill dave and i'm like ah my knee oh my calves why did it work out oh this tennis elbow

02:16why did it work out my earache my ears are aching yeah oh does your hair hurt my hair hurt jaw pain

02:25oh my fingers hurt my back everything hurts oh this is the worst forearm tightness

02:36oh god i'm so high that's opposite that's opposite of what should have happened

02:53kind of sensitivity to touch i would i don't even know i don't know i don't even know wasn't her

02:59first time smoking it either no well okay oh high doses of thc can actually make consumers more

03:07sensitive to pain i might have smoked a bit too much i got back into it a bit too fast

03:15too much too quick ouch i am in a lot of pain

03:47yeah they gave in a in a test study they gave people low thc moderate thc and high thc i think

03:56you're figuring something out at least and everyone that had high thc saw a big increase in pain

04:01sensitivity that's weird so yeah like if someone is you know they just worked out really hard and

04:09you know like the day after you work out really hard is when you feel it the most really and so

04:14then if you hit some super high levels of thc uh you could be in for it i guess some people never

04:22heard that before today though i didn't first i never had heard it none of us even some uh i laughed

04:27alleged so hard weed users here have no idea it could increase your pain level i heard that it

04:32could make your pain tolerance like down the line you know be increased or decreased but really

04:38it'd make you feel pain more that's interesting this issue i mean more thc the better yeah yeah and

04:45it doesn't like because you've had some ailments it didn't make anything no like i mean i started

04:50i got into medical marijuana because i got back problems i have three bulging discs and i don't

04:54want to be an opioid so yeah i started smoking you know weed and i like i can i'm much more

04:59flexible like chuck will tell you i can yeah you can touch my toes oh my god i can't do it like i

05:03used to when i smoke put his i put his ankles right behind his head yeah it's crazy i don't feel an

05:08ounce of pain it's all pleasure yeah so yeah we have learned that your friend may have had a little

05:14too much yeah yeah i think you're figuring it out and that pumped up their weed i just started again

05:20for the first time i had a lot like a lot started for the first time
