What would it be like if an elephant was reunited with the vet that saved it's life 12 years ago? Chuck and Andy reenact the encounter based on a real story!

00:00you know occasionally you see the videos of an animal recognizing someone from their past like

00:08wild animals yes like you see lions you know run up and almost like look like they're hugging

00:13guys yeah right that they haven't seen someone turns out they raised them from when they were

00:18born well uh a guy in thailand had a elephant recognize him he's a vet turns out he treated

00:28this elephant 12 years ago they never forget elephants never forget they're super cool yeah

00:35i guess um it's a 31 year old elephant named plight hang uh in 2009 the elephant was found

00:43struggling through a wooded area it was suffering from a condition known as sleeping sickness

00:50this vet arrived to treat the elephant which was close to death it had fever loss of appetite

00:56swelling taken to um a different area to be treated this vet was with him for several months

01:05and then when he saw him again since 12 years the elephant reached out his trunk

01:12to try and touch him he recognized him from 12 years ago they say he beckoned him with his trunk

01:22making contact with him elephants are so super cool he's like hey yeah how you been you're the guy that

01:32saved my life i remember oh man well i'm not gonna stop you to death now i was gonna kill you oh man i was

01:39gonna take your organs out with my tusks please don't die please don't but no you're the guy help me

01:45i am the vet that's awesome i you saved me oh man good to see what you've been up to just uh

01:51doing human magic or just fixing stuff and doing things oh that's cool man that's cool yeah i just

01:59been doing elephant stuff oh kind of wandering around you know you really helped me out in a jam

02:04i tried i also look pretty cool you're lucky i recognize you just sneaking up on me in the

02:10forest here i totally was gonna stomp your uh butthole right out of you thank god you didn't

02:16take much you know uh but then yeah i was gonna bat you around with my tusks and

02:21play with your corpse but now that i see it's you it's not uh thank you buddy it's not gonna happen

02:27you're awesome thank you good buddy touch my trunk a little bit just for a little bit not too fast

02:33you don't want to scare me i'm a wild animal you know no no no no yeah all right well i'll see you

02:38later i'm gonna go look for some females goodbye goodbye see you another 12 years i hope so i hope

02:55catch up it was awesome we're talking with the elephant uh who just met his doctor thanks for

03:05having me on yeah no problem yeah 12 years ago he did something to you and fixed you up that's

03:11right i was just i was just sick as sick could be and now you know this guy doctor uh this was dr uh

03:17patter paul manion yeah i don't have uh i don't have the same kind of vocal things you can't i can't

03:22really say that name is it true you just called him i just called him yeah so it was awesome you know

03:30and i just see him again it's just like you know i wasn't counting on it i was doing elephant stuff

03:35when i first saw him to be honest i thought i was gonna stomp his guts right out of his ass that's

03:41what he said you know and then he reached out and i was like i don't know if it's that guy i think it

03:45is and then he touched my trunk we had a moment it was awesome so where does it go from here

03:51for me uh well i'm gonna try and find more females uh-huh uh i'm gonna wander around and uh kind of

03:58keep things in order in my area sure uh around here and uh hopefully you know eat some plants that

04:03kind of thing i like to play in the water a lot that's cool that's cool for me but um if i do see

04:09humans that i don't recognize or didn't help me with human magic i mean i will i will stomp their

04:14organs right out of all their holes yeah that's just how it does just that's how i do you know

04:20yeah i almost chipped my uh tusk the other day right on you should have seen it yeah i got startled

04:27by a tree right yeah yeah i thought i was like is this an elephant but it wasn't no just a tree you

04:32knocked it over just a tree i pushed it right over because i have crazy strength but it was cool to

04:36see that guy what'd you call him again uh dr uh patter paul manion

04:41or that or that yeah all right well uh ply tang the elephant thank you so much hey thank you guys

04:49for having me on i don't even know what kind of technology this is but it's a radio show fascinating

04:54we don't have that no i'm sure maybe someday that's what i'll do i'll try to start an elephant
